Very helpful to me, my garage door springs broke, got that replaced and now chain drive isn't moving so I took off cover and that plastic gear is shredded into shavings
YOU REALLY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH KEEPING THE CAMERA STABLE. THE FIRST THING YOU SHOULD HAVE CHECKED IS THE SPROCKET GEAR ON THE TOP OF THE UNIT THAT ACTUALLY DRIVES THE CHAIN. IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT IS THE REAL ISSUE. THE NYLON GEAR THAT YOU REPLACED IS A LITTLE WORN BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE THAT POPPING SOUND.

Was the sprocket not worn out? Looked to me like your problem was a sprocket especially with the popping noise.
yes, was a different sprocket that was worn out
Are the gears working on any models or have to be specific size for each opener.
Great video! I have the same exact issue. Where exactly did you find the replacement parts, thanks!
thanks! we have a local Garage Door company that does service and stocks parts
Amazon
Gears have zero to do with that noise lol. The chain drive sprocket is clearly stripped missing links
I wouldn’t have done a gear change with the motor plugged in
