  • Remember Ufouria? If you do, cool. If not, it's cool. You might not have heard of it because it never came out in America back in the day. Yep - it's one of those games. Anyway it was made by Sunsoft - they made some cool NES games and stuff. And now Sunsoft's back, baby. And they made a new Ufouria, that's kind of just a remake of the original? Sort of? But look at the pretty graphics. It's very nice. Here's a review. Thannnnnks.

I’ve been following Ufouria 2 since it was first announced! Fell in love with the first game when I first played it on Wii U VC.
I’ve been a bit mixed on if I want to get it digitally as I do really want the physical version, but that doesn’t launch until July 5th…

I had the OG on NES. So glad that games like this still exist & the style gives my wife & daughter something to go "Awwwww!"

The visuals & music are by far the strongest attributes of Ufouria 2. Sadly the rest of the game is a BIG STEP BACK from the structure of the original. It's inaccurate to call this sequel a metroidvania. Unlike the original, there's nearly zero exploration in this game, only trekking through linear stages, and using character abilities to pass through certain branching points in the path. New abilities are not discovered through exploration, but purchased from a Vending Machine in your home base, which even then, only stocks upgrades in a set order, allowing for no sequence-breaking. The challenge is also virtually non-existent.
