I like interlocks. I put color dots on breakers to make it easy. On Gen power, Any green dots can be on. Only 1 blue dot at a time (kitchen stove, water heater, dryer, etc). No red dots (electric furnace, heat pumps)
was curious what you suggested for a manual transfer switch as i have batteries for backup so don’t need a generator to start but still don’t have enough money for a whole house ATS like the $900 generac install with extra costs for the labor and extra electrical cabinets, etc and that gets too close to the meter so harder to remove/change in the future
