Another way of getting large holes more precise is drilling a guiding hole first, that keeps the large drill centered from the beginning. That also makes it possible to avoid splinters, by drilling half-way from both sides, instead of right through from one side.

Is that particle board? Idk about that I’d use legit wood. Kinda tacky.
