Leo is a great help 👍 lovely to see kids enjoying and being interested in woodworking. Reminds me of myself as kid with my dad in his workshop. I learned so much 👍 nicely done 👍
The plaid cutting board was very well done. I am more impressed that someone of your skill level is willing to take the time to show in detail how to complete this project. Thank you for showing us less skilled woodworkers how we can challenge ourselves to try something new.
Thanks! I made the cutting board for the same person that I made this chess board for last year (ua-cam.com/video/ipCyrXgr5RQ/v-deo.html), so I figured I'd put together a video to show how I went about doing it.
Thank you so much for sharing your video with us!! I recently made two of these plaid boards. And, they came out magnificently! They are the talk of the town! Thank you again!
As a woodworker, I'm hooked! The craftsmanship, design and final product are top notch. Your production quality is right up there too. Lighting, flow, narration, camera placement...even the music. Bravo! Subscribed.
I love your projects...With me, the question isn't would you make it? but Can you make it? With your inspiration and calmness I will answer Yes! Thanks and can't wait for more.
Good Lord! That’s spectacular!!! I’m going to copy your plan for my father’s next birthday. I’m kicking myself that I didn’t find this video before Christmas this year. You have no idea how many siblings I have- all of whom will adore this sensational cutting board.
I really appreciate channels like yours where you're creating beautiful, professional pieces in a shop that seems designed for building things. You obviously have some nice equipment mixed in but it's nice to also see some tools like the Delta miter saw and lunchbox planer in there. Content that focuses on the art of building something rather than one big Festool & Sawstop ad. Love the videos I've learned a lot from you !
Thank you. Yes, I try to be practical when acquiring tools and try not to go overboard with spending. For example, I use my miter saw primarily for rough cutting lumber, so I prioritized space saving vs. precision and that helped keep the cost down.
@@oldhess I spent more than that on my CNC, but worth every penny I spent. Mine also has included a verticle workstation for working on the ends of pieces, and a turning center that does not mount on the table top, but is on the side of table - 10" diameter x 50" long capability.
Nice to see your helper in the shop and wearing hearing protection. However, I think training him to wear safety glasses will go a long way when he gets older. Great work. You can tell you must have put in a lot of planning for this pattern.
I'm new to woodworking, and I'm quite a bit in awe after watching this. I'm not ready by a long shot to make anything like it, but I'd love to be able to. I'm saving for a larger shed that I can turn into a shop, then my next purchase will be a sawstop. I'm just looking to have a small shop, though. I own a lot of hand tools, but as it is now, the only tools I have that I saw you use were the miter saw and random orbital sander. I can't do everything you're doing, but I love watching the process as you do it.
Sawstop is a great tablesaw. Save your fingers by being careful and safety aware whenever you work with tools that have sharp edges. Spend the money you save on not getting the Sawstop on a good drum sander. Woodworking involves a LOT of sanding! Best of luck.
Now that's how you do a plaid end grain board! I've seen other variations where people use face grain strips and they all seem like they'll fail eventually.
Amazing. Enjoyed the video. I’m a wood turner but have recently started building traditional stuff and cutting boards are one thing I’m working on. New subscriber here.
ABSOLUTELY! I just wonder what this would sell for on the internet! I've seen lots of cutting biards just slammed together and they charge a fortune! This, IS WOOD ART and I don't think people would use it as much as display it!
New subscriber here, yes I wood make it if I had a shop like yours, the final product is gorgeous and your design just beautiful, one of the best videos, easy to follow along with your clear narration, looking forward to your next video, cheers!
What a fantastic cutting board, Mike. I love the attention to detail, my friend, and the colors of the wood are perfect. You are the master of the cutting board. I also find your video is very creative with great focus. Keep coming with more content. Thank you for sharing on the platform. Felix
Excellent job. The process is perfectly executed and I really appreciate the quality of the presentation. You’ve got a great presentation voice and the music doesn’t distract from the process. I’ll stick to fine furniture.
I have done some woodworking and I have found that a Lazy Susan Turntable is a real help when doing finishing.Having to turn the pc. when wet with lacquer or other finish medium's is a breeze.
Great looking board. Nice to see you have the grandson with you, But I am concern on how many times you put you hands in harm way of the saw and band saw. Please be carefull. Thank you for shareing your technique.
Such videos are so beautiful. I subscribed after seeing one of the chessboard making videos. Very professional, creative and artistic. Background music is always soothing. I watch your videos sitting relaxed having my coffee. Great channel. Regards from Beirut, Lebanon
Before putting oil on boards I always squirt them with some water and let it air dry to bring up the grain, then sand one more time and then oil. That way the board won’t get rough again once it get wet.
Simply beautiful! This board would be an art item for me lol I would have it on my counter but never use it. I would hate to mark it up. Great work, I love watching people that are this skilled and make such fantastic projects.
Would I make it? Well, I'm going to try...I'm currently working on a basket weave design, but yours is probably the best I've seen (I have a thing for plaid). I'll try and stomach the thing I'm working on now, but when I finish, I'll try this.
This saw has ceramic blocks rather than bearings and sparks are normal, according to the user manual. Does seem weird, though, but it makes the work more exciting!
Of all the cutting board videos out there. This one has to be the dopest design.

Gotta love the hearing protection on your helper. My granddaughter’s are pink. She always wears them when we turn anything on. Great teaching early.
You have a little man helping you that is why you make beautiful work.
Hallo, Du bist der beste Schneidbrett Hersteller den ich gesehen habe. einfach Klasse!
Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus Germany
Thank you so much for sharing your video with us!! I recently made two of these plaid boards. And, they came out magnificently! They are the talk of the town! Thank you again!
Hi, Mike. Your job is excellent. Your little helper takes safety seriously.
Beautiful board! Also enjoyed seeing the iron ring

*Wow!!! This has to be the BEST looking cutting board I have ever seen!!!*
Your video and project are among the best I have seen. Thank you so much for the fine presentation and sharing!
Thank you so much!
I just completed 2 of these beautiful boards. They are the best things I’ve made so far! Very rewarding thank you!

Absolutely love your videos. Very beautiful work. You take the time to explain what you are doing and that makes a world of difference.

Lol there's still over 20k in tools there.
@@oldhess Not sure what your point is. Should someone who's a woodworker NOT invest in good tools to make their product better?
@@oldhess Good tools are definitely worth it, but it's not the tools that make the difference, it's the person using the tools.
@@oldhess I spent more than that on my CNC, but worth every penny I spent. Mine also has included a verticle workstation for working on the ends of pieces, and a turning center that does not mount on the table top, but is on the side of table - 10" diameter x 50" long capability.
Beautiful board and I like you speak well and are easy to hear. The music is not overpowering. Yes, I wood make this. Liked, subscribded.
Another beautiful & artfully done piece of work. Thanx a multimillion for sharing.
Once the oil hit the board and the colours popped.
Great video.
The Musics in your vídeos are very beautiful and tasteful as their creative and excellently executed works of art.
What a great board! I want to start making cutting boards, but need to get mine planer first.
It looks like every piece of furniture in my grandpa's house, which means you did an excellent job!
Nice to see your helper in the shop and wearing hearing protection. However, I think training him to wear safety glasses will go a long way when he gets older. Great work. You can tell you must have put in a lot of planning for this pattern.
Very nice, the mineral oil really made the color pop. Great gift.

This has been the most informative and helpful video I've found so far for cutting boards. Beautiful craftsmanship
Nice work man. beautiful board. I will definitely try this. I want your bandsaw too. LOL that thing went through that walnut like it was butter.
This is so beautiful, it kind of reminds me of a Scottish Tartan
Yes! Great board. Love your shop.
Very nice indeed. Lots of cutting, gluing and sanding, but well worth it!! Keep up the good work.
Very labor intensive but well worth the effort! Well Done!

It's not a question of would I make it, but when will I make it !!! Thanks for the awesome video 😎
Simply awesome. Thank you. Greetings from Antalya...
nice craftmanship there sir. like the way you work and not relying most of that on CNC as some others do.
Very nice, and I'm glad you demonstrated the utility of using the metric system. I, too, have made the switch and am glad I did.
Best helper EVER!

Thanks! I spent a few months working in Jounieh about 25 years ago. I really enjoyed the opportunity to experience Lebanon.
@@Woodumakeit wow! Glad that you enjoyed Lebanon. Hope you visit us again or seeing you in the US and order a chessboard from you :)

Definitely adding this style to the list!
Nicest plaid board on the app that I’ve seen.
Beautifull job. Amazing skills. You just inspired me !!

@@Woodumakeit You're welcome!!
Glad the young one was able to work with you! Sad that i have to say young ones need to “learn” how to work
That was amazing! Yes, I would make it!
It’s beautiful
Very creative 👍🏻
Millimeter always wins, even surgeon use them when precision is needed; we should just adopt the metric system! Btw: beautiful work!
