The whole album is a bit more deep than its pop-oriented production seems to be. I think it tells a lot about Lana's instrumental choices in her more recent albums.
one of lana’s best 💖 born to die 👶2️⃣💀 - 0:59 off to the races 📴2️⃣🏇 - 3:09 blue jeans 👖 - 5:46 video games 👾 - 8:16 diet mtn dew ⛰️💦 - 10:18 national anthem 🇺🇸🎶 - 12:38 dark paradise 🌴 - 14:46 radio 📻 - 17:29 carmen 💃🍷 - 19:26 milli $ man 💰💰🚶♂️- 21:36 summertime sadness ☀️😞 - 24:09 tiwmug 💁♀️💖🥇 - 26:11 (love the review 🫡 dropped a like for juxtaposition, bc u don’t hear that everyday)
this is why we recommend people listen in order, it throws people off and they think Lana’s putting on some kind of voice, when this is the sound and voice she started off with lol.
Whoever wrote that it is a bad album has not idea what it's talking about.. Pay no attention. We know what's up with this album and the legacy that it created it.
I appreciate your honesty when you aren't feeling a song! This album is hit or miss for me too but it's a classic! Wouldn't mind hearing you do chemtrails over the country club next!
Off to the Races and Lolita as well as other lyrics on the album are wholly or partially inspired by the novel Lolita and I’m pretty sure the high pitch voice she uses is supposed to sound like a young girl
the paradise ep is one of my favorites, it has some really unique sounding tracks and the ep in general is an astounding piece of work imo, though its not a fan favorite i dont think
This album is her signature sound and her most successful album and one of the most successful debut albums in history. I notice that you mention a few times that her voice sounds different and the production is faster/ different than usual when that’s what most thought when they heard ultraviolence 😭😹. It’s fine tho imo honeymoon, nfr, and chemtrails are my fav albums by her and honeymoon is her slowest so be prepared lol
she released the paradise ep and then kinda stuck it onto the end of born to die for a second edition to the album. born to die (paradise edition) [special version] is the full version of the album and i REALLY recommend listening to it😭 soooo many good songs
Found your Lana reactions today, and I’ve watched them all. The fact that you haven’t done Honeymoon which is my personal fav and her best album sonically and lyrical after NFR is criminal. Please do.
TIMESTAMPS : 0:00 Intro 2:30 my brain is melting 4:12 Hello bro 5:49 I went for a walk today 12:23 awrgrgwe 16:32 onika burgers 18:55 cheese strings 22:42 10 piece McNugget
shot in the dark here, but i would LOVE to see you react to 77 live by les rallizes denudes. its a heavy psych/noise rock album from 1977 by these japanese guys and the bassist hijacked a plane, its one of my favourite albums of all time and the story behind the band is so interesting. would love to see you cover any record they've released
There is technically still ONE more album by Aphex Twin thats left, Its Called Melodies From Mars however its unreleased and is currently on UA-cam, It has been confirmed before its made by him, it was made when switched over from Analogue technology to Digital
I remember when this album came out, I was only 9 but my mom was obsessed with million dollar man and would sing it all the time, and thats how my forever love for lana started
DUDE. you would LOVE some prince or madonna. PLEASE check an album from them! (to be more specific, for prince check out Purple Rain, and for madonna check out Ray of Light!)
This isn't actually her debut album as Lana! She released "Lizzy Grant AKA Lana Del Ray" in 2010 but wanted to start new so she took it off everywhere. I think that would also be a good album to react to:)
I LOVE THIS ENTIRE ALBUM. But it’s a love or hate first reaction always. This vibe takes time to grow on you. Dark Paradise is my fav. Diet MD was for the longest. Most dudes can’t get past the girlie NY influenced vocals… or the lyric choices
Hey smaggs, there is this album I really think you would like. Its called The Raven That Refused To Sing by Steven Wilson. It is one of the best albums I've ever heard, me and my dad both share a love for this album. I would really appreciate if you reviewed it, thank you!
I find that the self-titled EP which preceded this album did a better job with organizing the first 4 tracks. It was… “Video Games” “Born to Die” “Blue Jeans” “Off to the Races” I was never big on “Off to to Races” until I heard it in that order, however, as far as the album version goes, there is something interesting to be said about the chronology. As they go from “Off to the Races” then to “Blue Jeans” and lastly “Video Games,” what actually happens is the album goes back in time to a more innocent point in her life, thus taking a more emotionally ambiguous approach to storytelling within an album.
ur gonna love honeymoon ill tell u that ❤ ALSO diet mountain dew is the title cus ig its going with what shes saying “you’re no good for me, but baby i want you.” diet mountain dew is overall horrible for your health, but you crave it ! soo shes talking about the guy she loves but hes not good for her, she knows its not going to be healthy but she craves it (his love).
Nooo idk why people are saying honeymoon you should now listen to born to die ep addition it has realllyyyy good songs in there with great production and it’s what she realest right after born to diee
Fantastic album...however, I think Ultraviolence is still her magnum opus, followed by NFR. This was an incredible and fresh debut when it released. Bro...another phenomenal artist you should consider is Bat for Lashes.... 'Two Suns' was pretty much a perfect album.
I still love this album, but I get that it’s not really your taste for the most part. In some ways, it’s starting to show its age, but when it first came out it was revolutionary. At the time there was nothing that sounded like it, and it has been a major influence on pop music ever since. The fact that it’s still on the Billboard 200 after over 500 weeks (a full decade and counting!) is a testament to its sound and continued acclaim. You might like the Paradise EP more. The music and aesthetic were carried forward, but in a more mature and perhaps even darker tone. Also her vocals are more raspy as she was moving toward her Ultraviolence era.
Hey man, if you want to check out a male artist that’s similar vibe to Lana, you should listen to Tamino.. he’s very underrated and doesn’t have many people reacting to his work. His voice is amazing. He has two albums so far but I’d recommend checking out the first one first, “Amir”. I’d love to see your reaction!
this is her most pop album it's my least favorite but i gotta say that she was super creative and made up a whole world based on the american dream, lolita, hip hop, it's her aesthetic at this project each project she goes for an specific aesthetic and she always does it sooo well i feel like honeymoon it's gonna surprise you in a good way, it's just slower and with a totally different vibe
"light of my life, fire of my loins" is a line from the book Lolita
The very first line of the book is ‘Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins’
The whole album is a bit more deep than its pop-oriented production seems to be. I think it tells a lot about Lana's instrumental choices in her more recent albums.
one of lana’s best 💖

her vocals on this album are fucking perfect i love the contrast of her angelic voice with a bit of rasp
this is why we recommend people listen in order, it throws people off and they think Lana’s putting on some kind of voice, when this is the sound and voice she started off with lol.
this, along with Adele's 25, is one of the longest charting female albums of all time on the billboard 200, it's been on the chart for over 500 weeks
21*
People in the comments calling this album bad??? It literally influenced so many artists til this day
Whoever wrote that it is a bad album has not idea what it's talking about.. Pay no attention. We know what's up with this album and the legacy that it created it.
yes
next in line is honeymoon
actually it might be worth it checking the paradise ep
it's similar to born to die but more atmospheric and haunting

“Blue Banisters” or “honeymoon” is gonna fit your taste in music I think (after watching you reacted to Lana’s albums.
Based on what you said, I think you would really enjoy her Honeymoon album. She has a deeper sound, great lyrics and it’s very cinematic.
DUDE. you would LOVE some prince or madonna. PLEASE check an album from them! (to be more specific, for prince check out Purple Rain, and for madonna check out Ray of Light!)
Ray of light is pure gold ❤
omg really like ur reactions! also you're so cuuute.... cant wait honeymoon

off to the races is such a grower- listen to it a couple more times and you’ll get obsessed 😭
Jim O'Rourke's "Halfway To a Threeway" would be a treat, think you would really enjoy it 😁
8:24 World of warcraft, according to Lana 😂 I am old, so I know what how addictive it is. Used to play it too 😂😂😂
Early lana takes me back to high school. You should check out Renaissance by Beyonce
Want to get experimental? Check out Not Available by The Residents. Extremely influential (and weird) album
Paradise EP - next 😋

this is her most pop album
it's my least favorite but i gotta say that she was super creative and made up a whole world based on the american dream, lolita, hip hop, it's her aesthetic at this project
each project she goes for an specific aesthetic and she always does it sooo well
i feel like honeymoon it's gonna surprise you in a good way, it's just slower and with a totally different vibe
