I am new to Smule (lifelong singer). I bought the Rode NT USB, so it plugs right into a hub for my iPad. Learning how to set it up for good sound, and appreciate your content.
@@kristylovefromSM sure! I bought a hub with a usb-c plug that goes into the iPad. The hub receives the usb mic. The mic I bought has a headphone jack for monitoring sound. This is the one I bought, which is no longer available, but you can find something like it USB C Hub, iTeknic USB C Adapter 9-in-1 Dongle with 4K HDMI, RJ45 Ethernet, 3 USB-A Data Transfer, SD/TF Card Slots, Mic/Audio, PD Charging, Compatible for MacBook Air/Pro and Type C Laptops www.amazon.com/dp/B07TT9P9KQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2Y2KYHCPDAASWMM68G88?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Hi, thanks for the great info! Unfortunately if you are using a USB-C device you’ll also need a hub/adapter. I’ve had great success with the QGeeM model using the USB port. Everything works perfectly. I also would like to mention if others have the same issue of distortion that I had when using the mic on the earbuds then the Shure SM58 is the way to go. I haven’t had any issues since switching over. I am so happy with my new setup! Thanks again!
I can't believe that no one said it yet, so I will: what a beautiful song! I just listened to it on Spotify, beautiful melody and beautifully sung, arranged, played and recorded! Awesome stuff!
Yes. Actually I wrote the first verse for a bit of fun to try out some mics in a previous video. A number of people mentioned they would like to hear the rest of the song, so I finished it off :) I would be absolutely honoured if you added it to your repertoire:) let me know so I can check it out, thank you :)
@@CreativeSauce And this whole time I've been using a mic that I can plug into my phone but when I listen to the song I sang 1 second into the song in like -it sounds horrible🤣🤣
Thank you for the help and info. I’ve been wondering for a while how people have been doing this on Smule. It really helps if you have a wonderful voice like Suzie.
Suzie has a beautiful voice. I’m so glad to know that it’s possible to use these microphones without actually wearing headphones!! Can you recommend some earphones to use with these types of microphones? Thank you so much for your video!! It was well-made! 🥰🥰🥰
First up, Suzy is a great singer..no matter which mic she uses, her voice is unbelievable...I have an iRig Pro and a SHure SM58. When I try to sing on smule, the voice sounds muffled. Is there any additional setting I need to change? I use a Bose QC35 II headphone. And how did you mount the phone/tablet in front of the mic? It would be helpful if you can share that too.
I just bought the 3rd mic, plus the rig, a microphone isolation shield, and mic cables. 🎤 can't wait to try it out! Nice video really informative and to the point! 👍💯

Wow thank you so much! Now I know what to get, I have a question is there a Balance we should keep With the vocal volume ? Sometimes my voice sounds louder than the music, playing So… I wondered if you should keep both at the same level? Hope I make sense
I use android and my vocal chain is this: my voice - popshield - shure sm58 - XLR cable - Roland Quad Capture pre amp - 1/4" jack to usb cable (I use the one that came with the pc game Rocksmith) - USB dongle for my phone (large USB female to USB-C) - Oneplus 5T phone. The Roland quad capture needs power via usb, so I have to have my PC powered up for it to work. This unit is obsolete now anyway, just find a pre-amp that has a plug for power rather than USB. I get great audio recordings and can even have my wall fan on in the room and it wont come out in the recording. My smule name is Wigamondo if you want to check out ho wit sounds.
Very nicely explained. I too own an iRig pre HD used with Lewitt 440 and MXL 990 mainly for smule singing. The main point to note here is that you will get best quality only when you record a fresh song. In case of you join a duet you are just gonna add up over on a poorly recorded audio. Not gonna give any best audio even if you have a rode nt1a. Keep this in mind. Also I won't recommend iRig pre cos you may get a superior audio interfaces for the similar price tag. I own a native instruments komplete 2 and scarlet solo. They are great.
Hi, thank you for your very informative video... Will Rode NT1 work with XLR to 3.5mm connector? Instead of getting the Pre HD iRig? Or having the iRig is a must? Thank you!
Thank you very much of the sharing, that's amazing . May I ask how to singing on the smule and at the same time do the live broadcast on social media such as UA-cam, fb or ig ?I am new on smule and finding a way to sing live broadcast outdoors while walking. Is there any handy way, thanks !
Great video, Mike, clear and concise. I don’t use Smule but I do record my own songs and I have an NT1A. Suzie’s voice sounded really good, can you spill the beanz on the processing you used (delay and reverb) ? Or is it a standard pre-set in Smule? Either way it was ideal for Suzie’s voice and the mood if the song. 👍 Great work, thanks.
i have to say i really like her singing and I am a very particular person and doesn't like most of the singers these days LOL. I get goosebumps when I don't like someone's singing, my body is very honest. This time I don't get goosebumps so I got to enjoy the whole time she was singing

Thanks for this. I definitely need this. What is the difference between the iRig Pre HD microphone interface and the iRig Pre 2 XLR Mic Interface and Preamp? android version of smule kinda sucks but i actually use my iphone with a 3.5mm to lightning adapter with the original irig pre or irig pre 2 which has a 3.5mm jack, along with a shure beta 87a condenser, also have the shure sm58 dynamic i used to use. the irig pre original or 2 would connect directly to any device with a headphone jack, so old iphones, androids, ipads, tablets, computers, etc
Hello ! Thanks for the information. Can you tell me please how you connect the last micro with the telephone ? You have not explained but just present this micro. Thanks by advance.
The second mic sounds the best in this video IMO. However, are there other condensor mics that sound even better?? Perhaps the best one in the market.... regardless the price?? 🤔 And also, how about adding a compressor so that no matter how loud or how quiet you sing, the volume will remain exactly at the same level?? 🤔
Amazing video I have been struggling to find the best combo, but I need help I can’t hear the microphone or if I do it’s really low or goes in and out any ideas? Thank you so much and thanks again for the video
Thanks for a helpful and very well produced video. And my question has more to do with the latter - what is your mike and where the heck is it? Love your audio clarity and levels - which seem to quite happily absorb your moving your head around a bit as you speak. You post-process your audio at all? (I am going to look through your YTs to see if you've covered this somewhere else :) But overall, great work - thank you. Haha - thanks. Actually in this video I used a very cheap 'lav' mic taped to my chest under my shirt. I think the brand is 'Boya' and it cost something like $25! Will pass thank onto Suzi - and yes, shes a joy to sing with :)

I have lots of different mics so maybe i just need the irig,, i used to sing with plugged in buds but got the new phone and no jack for it so I am trying to figure out how to sing on this new phone,
Hi thanks for the video, can you create another on how to use a audio mixer with Smule. Although the mic way is an alternative but there's no way to adjust individual sound settings. The first mic is abt to clip, the last mic picks up too much plosive.
Awesome video and tips!! I definitely need to try this!! How do you be able to here the music and sing? Would I need an earpiece for that? Thanks again!! Subscribed!! 😇 ❤
Hello! This is so useful! I have bought all this kit, but can only use on ipad as the android connection is producing incredibly loud interference (playback is just loud white noise/static). I am using a USB Adaptor with the cable provided. Has any else experienced this? I'm assuming it's down to the cable connecting the irig to the phone?
A very nice presentation I have a small question. How to use the iRig to sing and record with a pre-recorded track for the song, or sing live with one? It would be great if you could help! thanks

Can I use irig 2 instead ??? It’s cheaper but I’m not sure if i can use it instead of this one as I don’t know the difference
Whats the diffirence between the HD and pro I/O? I own a irig pre now , but considdering to buy another one. Good video keep it up.
I have lots of different mics so maybe i just need the irig,, i used to sing with plugged in buds but got the new phone and no jack for it so I am trying to figure out how to sing on this new phone,
Thank you very much. This was very helpful

I guess you have shown the set up with iPhone with a jack but I have a phone X. What set up will I need to connect my earphones to pre HD ?
Hi thanks for the video, can you create another on how to use a audio mixer with Smule. Although the mic way is an alternative but there's no way to adjust individual sound settings. The first mic is abt to clip, the last mic picks up too much plosive.
Awesome video and tips!! I definitely need to try this!! How do you be able to here the music and sing? Would I need an earpiece for that? Thanks again!! Subscribed!! 😇 ❤
Thanks for your useful advice. Just one quick question - can I use an audio interface or sound mixer instead of of the iRig?
Thanks it was very clear and useful video and your english understanding very well
Can I use this mic with honor 90?
A very nice presentation I have a small question. How to use the iRig to sing and record with a pre-recorded track for the song, or sing live with one? It would be great if you could help! thanks
how about apogee hypemic? Have you tested it or would you recommend it?
I use the iPhones built in mic and it is perfect 👌
How would you use a headset to hear yourself with the SM58?
