Very interesting and clever. Don't regret, just enjoy it. Craft people in general buy all kinds of "gadgets" they really don't need, but make their experience more fun.
I am using up some reeves Pencils. just now there some what small enough to have the extender being used I could use them as small pocket pencil :) loz
Ohh I love this, gotta get one to try. Im totally intrigued I love anything that's different gadgety-wise especially arty bits. You can use the whole pencil till it's gone. Even in an extender you can't use it all, now you can it's genius! Brilliant thanks for sharing this.
I've just watched this open-mouthed. I think I like it 😅 Great fun. Can you show step one? I'm a bit concerned how hard it might be. I'm really into pastel pencils at the moment, do you have any you could try it on?
Step one is like using twice as much pressure as a regular sharpener and it takes twice as long because the hole needs to be quite deep, It wont take pastel pencils , only takes regular size pencils.
I've never been able to get on with manual pencil sharpeners, I've found that they twist the leads and they break! Whereas electronic sharpeners keep the pencil and leads still while the blade's spin around the pencil. Or even better sharpen the pencils with a scalpel knife so you can vary the length of the lead depending on drawing. Longer leads for delicate drawing, you tend not to press the lead on the paper or the lead breaks!
Hi Smoothie, I think it is awesome!! A very nice gadget and a real money saver (Since I am from Holland, it a big deal right? Hahahahaha lol ^^) Thank you for sharing my friend and all the love - Lineke ;)
Hi Lineke, I thought everyone in Holland was rich ;) and its only us poor people in the UK that have to glue our pencils back to save money, hehe, or is it because we are both poor starving artists that we attracted to saving our pencils lol, take care my friend:)
Hahahahaha LOL XD I guess it is because we are both born, not with that "silver spoon", but with a wooden one.... shaped that wooden spoon into a pencil and started drawing with it! ;)
Cool, I do like the idea of making double ended 2B/4B sketching pencils out of my stubs, I don't know why nobody makes those anyway, they would be real useful.
Amazing piece of engineering! Conservation wise brilliant but buying a new pencil would be better on the pocket I think. Also replacing worn out parts could be a challenge. Having said that it’s a neat invention.
Anyone who loves to draw, also loves their pencils, right? Sometimes getting rid of a pencil with which we made many drawings, it is even painful. I bought two Derwent extenders and I'm happy. It seems silly, but they are really useful and they help us use the pencils to the maximum of their capacity. I`ll try the other gadget. Nice video! :)
I agree, its a shame to waist those pencil stubs, whether we join them back together or use a pencils extender isn't important, the important thing is we don't waist them, thanks for the comment
Sadly, this is useless for my purposes since I mostly use artist grade colored pencils, so even if this *would* work on them-- and based on what happened to the 8B, it wouldn't-- I'd choke on having to sacrifice millimeters of usable core to make this work. But thank you for this entertaining and informative review. ;-D
I like using pencil stumps anyway, even down to the last inch. anyway, you can get a tin of Faber Castell a lot cheaper than that gadget. Looks like you had fun though!
It doesn't save any more pencil than getting a pencil extenders cause you gotta factor in the part you bore out. The only way to best that is glue pencil together that come un sharpened using wood glue
Pencil extenders don't fit all sizes and some coloured pencils are so pricey, it's definitely worth getting the most out of them. I found this video while searching for an alternative to the Caran d'Ache pencil extender which costs €26! And that's just for one. Granted, it's a beautiful, clever, quick swapout system, but your device is a better option if you ask me.
I HATE those pencil extenders, I want this thing! That stupid metal part of a regular extender drives me NUTS so,,,,, (*wildly looking for further reviews *) (*totally in love with this stupid piece of heaven*)
Should I, or shouldn't I? Hmmmmmmmm! :D Hey, never mind. We have to have some fun in our old age, haven't we? Very interesting video, though, Smoothie. Thanks for that. :)
I do see an issue with this device. That would be different sized pencils. This gadget looks like it only works with one size. I don't know how much it costs. But I would need at least two maybe 3 of these all different sizes.
No way! Let's not even talk about how big a fuss it is to use. For reference, I could pick up a Faber-Castell 9000 (my most used pencils) for about 40 cents USD in my country. With this sharpener costing 26 bucks, i'd have to save a total of 62.5 pencils. That's not the number of pencils I have to join, but the amount of lead I save using the tool that would otherwise be lost has to be worth 62.5 whole pencils!!
Can you buy replacement blades ? I hope so for this price .... darn expensive bit of fun for those of us who love inventions and out of the ordinary gadgets. That's often the problem with sharpeners, you can rarely purchase extra blades. Thanks for bringing the ?!#■◇)☆ to our attention. Will definetly try... Just for the heck of it.😉
I'm not sure if replacement blades are available , one is just a regular pencil sharpener blade and easy to replace, the other is a different type so might be hard to replace.
Well, that could only have come from Japan really, couldn't it? I'm deeply impressed by how well it works, but will probably muddle through without. :-)
I love gadgets. This is one I Will put on my wishlist. What a great idea. No more wasting great pencils!!! I Will let my boyfriend use iT for me! If iT is to heavy for me to use
please answer- you often draw with a black pencil with a red-yellow stripe -which can be seen in this video. Write the name of these pencils.. I will be grateful to you.
@@smoothie77drawingpainting thank you for the answer- yes- the second pencil of this company- I wanted to know about the first pencil- black. Apparently, too, this company- in many videos you use it.
This would work well for creating double ended colored pencils, too.
Very interesting and clever. Don't regret, just enjoy it. Craft people in general buy all kinds of "gadgets" they really don't need, but make their experience more fun.
Oh I have no regrets, I'm enjoying this little gadget, its great fun :)
Smoothie77, I think it is a nice gadget where pencils cost over here like a dollar 39 a piece good way to reuse these kinds of pencils
Would be quite usfull to join half sized pencils back to back for a double ended one of different lead for a pocket drawing set
Good idea.
I am using up some reeves Pencils. just now there some what small enough to have the extender being used I could use them as small pocket pencil :) loz

Those Frankenpencils do look cool though.
They do look good :)
"Frankenpencil"... love it, you've just coined my new favourite word.
Thank you smoothie77. Kind of a cool little gadget. Think I'll just get a few more extenders. Excellent review. 👍
I've just watched this open-mouthed. I think I like it 😅 Great fun.

Will it work on larger pencils, like 8mm colored pencils, or only for the standard size pencils?
It only works on standard size pencis
thanks. still could be fun and useful. :)
Do I use pencils? Yes! Do I use extenders? Yes! Do I still need this in my life? Yes!
Wow, what an interesting gadet! So how would you saw off the end of the rounded pencils? I don't have any tools.
If you haven't got a small saw you could use sand paper or a file, exacto make a very small fine toothed craft saw , that what i used.
smoothie77 Thanks. I didn't think of rough sandpaper!
Do you think it would work as well with coloured pencil?
Yes absolutely, as long as your coloured pencils have the same diameter as a regular pencil it will work perfectly.
I do like the extender!🤓🚴🏼♀️

So it’s been four months, how are the grafted pencils working? Have you got enuff stubs to reach the moon in one long grafted 2B ??

you should make just one stub a holder stub and put holes in the rest to fit into the holder
Thanks, that's a great idea.
Amazing piece of engineering! Conservation wise brilliant but buying a new pencil would be better on the pocket I think. Also replacing worn out parts could be a challenge. Having said that it’s a neat invention.
Good point, I never though about the conservation side of it,
I don't think I'd buy it but I loved the video and your humour. Thank you.
Thanks Marty :)
That looks like an awesome wee gadget mate, love it.
Thanks Harry, its certainly an interesting idea, still can't make my mind up if its worth it though...
Hey Harry. Nice to see you guys together.

i have these extenders come from China
looks great!
Thanks you for sharing your ideas
You're welcome Izak.
He predicted my reaction when he showed the pencils stick together 😯
I really like this. I wish it was a little cheaper though.
A graphite grinding grafter to greaten your grip? Not for me.
John, perhaps this would be more cost effective for colour pencils if they fit.
Yes as long as they fit, this only takes standard size pencils.
Brilliant!

Surely, once you've sharpened back to the join you've just got the original stump of pencil. Back to where you started!
I HATE those pencil extenders, I want this thing!

well that was unique and interesting

OMG. I've never seen anything like this crazy
$30 here in the US. I wonder is it worth the investment.
Seems like a gimmick to me, I like the regular extenders. Thanks for the video though
Yes I agree, the regular extenders are a better option.

Just use an extender. No hassle.

I guess I'm a bit primitive I just use a pencil extender but is DEFINITELY a very interesting gadget
I need this...
Haha, go on, treat yourself :)
@@smoothie77drawingpainting just did...it is on the way.
That's great! I hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think of it when you get it....
Clever idea, but definitely not for me. My pencil extenders work perfectly well and are much simpler.
I love gadgets. This is one I Will put on my wishlist. What a great idea. No more wasting great pencils!!! I Will let my boyfriend use iT for me! If iT is to heavy for me to use

You do pronounce the t, it's like "cats" without the "ca".
Decrease the bass on your audio mix.
