When you said “and then the menopause and then death” my mom heard and just goes “mood” from the other room. Gave me a good chuckle.
Lucy really makes me feel like I could do these things, I love her attitude
You totally could! Just got to give it a go 😂
"... and then the menopause.... And then death."
Got me right in the feels! So funny, but so depressingly true. Oh the joys of being a woman!!
And from the way people talk about it, menopause is also considered to be a bit of a mini death in and of itself.
Yep.
And that’s not even mentioning the peri-menopause, which can start several years before and be terrible. I had never heard of this until recently when a friend told me what she was going through. Noooooooooo!
Just one big happy life for us eh? Hahaha
@@naomiharrison311 definitely the awful stage that no on talks about. Once you're in menopause your kinda done with the horribleness. I was in my mid 30s when it started and it's just not something that we know to expect.
Lucy, look into getting storage under your stairs, the stairs can be made to lift up (any carpenter should be able do this) it’s brilliant for show storage etc xx
"nothing but spotty chins and unexplainable rage" 🤣 I'm dead
I love all this house reno content. Im a couple years behind you in 'adulthood' so its great seeing the next things to look forward to. I can't wait to decorate and renovate my own home one day!
I have never been quicker to watch a vlog! Your vlogs are just what I need on a Sunday morning ❤️
Yay! Have a happy Sunday 🧡
I love the idea of a full on pink accent wall at the top of the stairs and the side bits pink. Combine that with bright walls and stairs, it’ll look awesome.
It’s so cool that you’re doing so many jobs around the house yourself! When we got our apartment the renovation had to happen really quickly so we had builders do most jobs (and most things I couldn’t have done). But this is seriously cool and already looking so good. Mercury the trans-maintenance lady on TikTok is also super sweet and really helpful.
honestly, I live for this type of relatable bins content.
I'm restoring an 1855 Italianate with my family and I take a break from our restoration watching other people work on their houses LOL. Can't wait to see the final result of the stairs project!
Those holes in the stairs were freaking me out lol I expected fingers to come poking out of them. It's going to look so nice when it's all done though. Definitely need a mirror at the top of the stairs to reflect light
I knew you could do it! Can't wait for the next installment with paint revisions.
I do have a strong desire to send you a staple remover and pry bar now though
Hahahaha I definitely had absolutely no correct tools for this job
I have always had the mindset that I cannot do these kind of home repairs myself, but you really have inspired me to. You are amazing! Way to go :)
The trick is to know who to call if it all goes really wrong. I mean, do some research, but have that get out of jail card!
For the wheelie bin situation you can get these metal L shaped brackets you can attach and put a padlock on them. We used them in our old house as our bins were next to a path and everyone who walked past put their dog poop and rubbish in our bin. The L brackets worked a treat.
Your blogs are so relaxing, fun, and wholesome. Thank you for creating content that’s not based on shock, drama, or spending crazy amounts of money on random stuff. It’s refreshing. 😊💛
I love all your reno vlogs Lucy! I had a thought that you could pop a big ol' mirror at the top of the stairs and that that might bounce some light from the bedrooms?
Honestly I just love watching your home vlogs!!
Good day cafe is amazing. It’s my weekly treat!!! The cookie dough slices are *chefs kiss*
Your vlogs make me feel at home - from moving to Canada from England- you just encapsulate everything London I miss especially the humour ❤️😄
I did this a few months ago so I totally feel your pain!! I removed the paint from the tops of each stair and it took FOREVER , looking back I probably would have just painted them, so good choice !! super excited to see it all come together 🤗
If you got a new front door with larger frosted windows, that would open up the space with so much more light 🥰 the photoshop idea is a great idea!!
We have strict guidelines about our front door style, it’s very annoying! This would be a great solution otherwise 🥲
Lucy! If you can’t sand or strip away the existing paint, you can have a look into tread covers. It’s like a thin new piece that just fits over the old, so you can still have just wood all the way up!
Watching you bumble through DIY has really inspired me to do my own DIY when we have our own house! Takes me back to Average Girl Tries ❤❤
Lots of hard work!! We worked on our stairs in our old house... SO many staples!! Can't wait to see more of the stairwell progress!
Great job on the stairs! Watching these house vlogs makes me so happy and we are currently renovating our own house for the first time and you guys are so relatable and down to earth (:
These vlogs really are my safe space!
I am so looking forward to seeing a finished house ( no matter how long it may take, I am so here for it!!😁😁😁😁). These make my weekend ❤️
Watching this with sunburn and feeling relieved it's slightly overcast today after 4 days of boiling heat! 😂
You made me laugh when you refer to the underlay as "The spongy thing"
Eating a bucket of ice cream, while watching you, after having a rage argument with my bf for no reason!! Yup - monthly gifts, menopause then death 😂 so true!!! Lots of love, to all us ladies 😘
The start of this video is so me. Wake up brush hair and decide whether it can go another day without being washed. If I'm not going out or meeting anyone I leave it. 😉
Only benefit of menopause - No more visits from Aunt Flo.
Haha glad we’re all a greasy mess together 🥲
Not me already looking for the finished stairs video and realising you only uploaded this 2 hours ago 🥲
I love a Lucy home project! ❤
I wish I had your energy! Xx
Kinda wish we had Adam's reaction to your hard work on video. You are doing a great job with your house loving watching the process
Yesss updated shed tour 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
A new coffee maker? When did that happen?!? I'm so glad that you both had such a good time on your get away. And also glad to hear you get to see your family soon!
Girls get it done 👏 😁 be proud! You take on so many things yourself. I seriously let the side down with our house, every time I got stressed I'd just hand the whole thing over to the Mr 🙈 you're doing great! Xx
I lived in Bath for 5 years but moved recently, and it is the most amazing place. It's where Jane Austin is from so there is a Jane Austin Museum, and the Jane Austin Society where they all dress in regency era clothing. Definitely a good place to visit, I can't wait to go back, so glad you liked it!
10/10 content as usual Lucy! I would honestly watch you try out anything haha. 🧡 Cant wait to see how the stairs turn out!!
These type of vlogs are just perfect for a sunday😍
Can't wait as always to see what you do. Loving the house adventures still! I bet you felt so accomplished after pulling up that carpet!
Anybody else wishing they had Lucy's motivation and energy? .. Just me?!?
Hey, just throwing this out there but one of the easiest and safest ways to remove lead paint is with a paint stripper. Just wear a mask, open all your windows and endure the awful smell. And chemical strippers are not at all expensive.
I’ve been checking your channel all week for this, 10/10 content no joke
I was supposed to go to Bath for my semester abroad this year :( But I will go and see it all at some point in the future! Sounds lovely
Living for this kind of content ❤
That’s great to hear, hope you enjoy this one 😊
"Skins style rave" 😂 those foxes 🦊
Hiya Lucy, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to my hometown of Bath, it's such a beautiful place, but I am biased lol Hope all is well with you and Adam, loved your video as always. It's so interesting seeing how you are transforming your house into your home. Keep them coming as they always make me smile and you cheer me up every time I watch them. Take care xx
I could watch you remove old carpet and chat about house stuff all day. Which probably sounds a bit crazy but it’s very true ✨
I'm glad you loved Bath. It's such a lovely city! I live 8 miles from the centre of Bath and I've never had a bun from Sally Lund! I should rectify that next time I'm in work! Haha!
It’s Memorial Day long weekend in the USA and I’ve been doing all the house projects (mostly building ikea) and I love it 🛠 🧰
saving this video to watch it when my pizza is done baking ☺️ have a lovely sunday! xx
That sounds like the dream Sunday!
Really looking forward to the continued stairs adventures - especially runner reccs, I've been looking but can't find anything that is both modern and cost effective atm :(
This is awesome Lucy! love your can-do attitude. Love this content. Can’t wait to see what comes of it all! X
I love how the staircase is looking!
Might be cool to get some jazzy gold framed mirrors on the way up the stairs to get the light bouncing around a little.
I'm weirdly invested in these stairs....just waiting for the next stairs vlog now.
I am planning to do the same thing with my stairs, so this video was perfect! Thank you for doing all the research on the weird white paint strips so I don’t have to. 😂
Would you think about removing the living room wall side of the stairs and having some nice balusters going up? It would brighten the stair area and make the living room feel bigger? You've probably already thought about it and decided not to.
Yes this is something I’ve thought about a lot! I think it would be too expensive to do but if we were staying here for a long time, I’d definitely do it x
@@LucyJaneWood and if you do that, think about under stairs storage! would be massive. maybe a under stairs bookcase? that would be stunning
Ooooh I just read Hamnet last week and I loved it so much!! Also Bath is one of my favourites places I've visited so far, it's absolutely stunning.
I can't remember if you got a new front door? If not a one with a bigger glass panel in the top will add light to that area xx
We have really strict regulations about the type of front door we’re allowed to have 😩 but you’re right, this would make a big difference
So glad you enjoyed your weekend away in Bath Lucy!! 😊
Well done on the stairs! Looks great 😊😊
Some days coffee should be available in IV form 🤣 put the stuff straight into the blood!!
Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a really nice trip away! 💜
Everyone seems to have the shed of doom, where all the crap one does not know what to do with ends up! 😜
That looks brilliant, I can’t wait to see the final thing❤️
Could you try with some paint stripper on one stair to see how hard it is to remove the paint? If it's too tough, I'd be tempted to sand and finish the middle parts and re paint the edges in a darker colour!
If the paint is lead based, it's dangerous to disturb it (with sanding, paint-stripper etc). Probably safest to do a lead test first (you can buy a cheap kit that does this at the hardware store) before doing anything further
@@KG-ul7nx Chemical strippers are safe with lead paint because they bind the particles together. What's dangerous about lead is when it creates dust.
And it'a doubly amazing that you did all that during .."that time"
Ahh, Lucy on a sunday. Love it. ♥️
We have the same problem with foxes in Hammersmith, I now squirt bleach into our bin bags before we put them out and so far the foxes tend to avoid our bags and go for our neighbours instead x
Lucy, a tip to solve your foxy bin problem! - Shake some white pepper all over your bin, it’ll deter the foxes from ripping up your bags. Sounds ridiculous but it works 😌
Such a shame you did not vlog that trip :( It would be awesome to watch :)
Near Chicago, the weather this week has been in the forties, rainy and windy. Next weekend, in the nineties!
a little trick to remove nails from any flat surface (walls, steps,...): put a flashlight as close to the surface from above/under/the side as possible. the nails will create a shadow and are much more easy to see, so the job will be more easy and much faster
Just made some cookie dough, perfect timing to relax with a video 😍
Why was I so intregued about what was under your carpet 🤣
Hello lucy!!! Your blogs are so pleasant and relaxing. Watching feels like hanging out with a lovely friend. Just wanted to let you know. 💞
I like the two tone stripe!! You should defo consider it
My husband gives me shit about not using the "right" tools, but I say if it works it's works therefore it's not wrong.
Glad the weather has improved a lot since you mentioned it being bad in this video haha
hahaha the "monthly strife" rant 😘👌 OF COURSE day 1 of my period fell on vaccination day.
Can’t wait to see the finished product. It’ll look great.
On a side note where’s the Mickey embroidery from?
Etsy! It’s taking me SO LONG 😂
I loved Hamnet! Can’t wait to hear what you think 💗
Pulling those staples out are annoying, had to do it recently in two rooms, landing and stairs. Yes crowbar or the back of a hammer is the best, makes it much easier.
Crow bar gets the gripper rod up rather easily, suppose you don’t really wanna hear that now 😂
Finished Louise Ps sunday vlog and then yours appeared straight after! Yay!
What a combo! 🙌🏻
Hello lovely lady if your crazy lol then so r we 😉 my hubby left me alone too so here I am with you 😄
Just want to assure you there are some good years between menopause and death! Ha!
Good work on the stairs...
First Time watching you. You are so sweet! New suscriber!
Sally Lunn's buns made me realise I hate cinnamon. That was about 17 years ago and I've avoided it ever since.
Is that radiator paint? I've been looking for some paint to use on mine as they are looking a bit worse for wear and all the colours just seem a bit much for what I am looking for.
Ah restock! I wanted some of those care cards but they weren't in stock so I ordered Christmas ones and pencils! Hope theres some left!!!
Awh wow thank you so much! There’s plenty this time 🥰
Have put an order in already! :-)
Spotty chins and unexplainable rage…😂🤣😂🤣😂
Care to share the name of your nail polish? It’s my favorite color and looks so nice on you!
...and then death....
Lol’ed so much!!!
So glad I'm not the only one that suffers with the dreaded chin spots every month! Never get them anywhere else just always my chin, more thankful than normal for masks during these times so I can hide my chin from the world haha (at this point it's more like my multiple chins if I'm being honest)
Oohh Please do a review on Hamnet please if possible
You could definitely have got that paint off! A product called peelaway would have made it super quick any easy to do
I found the carpet ripping up more therapeutic than I care to admit
You should have opened the wall on the left and put an open handrail. Could have brought in a lot of light.
What about tiling!
