Hey Chris, I spent a few hours trying this again, this time with 9.3. I get stuck going through the nvidia step 6. I get "No match for argument: kernel-headers-5.14.0-362.8.1.el9_3.x86_64" and "No match for argument: kernel-devel-5.14.0-362.8.1.el9_3.x86_64". I can see that both the 362 (9.3) and 427 (9.4) kernel headers are installed on my system. nvidia-smi returns a "NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running." Would really appreciate some help. Thanks.
Great video, unfortunately, it didn't work for me. But I'm on 8.4 and a newer kernel. It gets stuck on the blinking dash after debug messages. Tried different ways. GUI install with RPM fusion, then with epel, and with NVIDIA. Also tried the option with Nvidia modeset = 1. It works fine on GNOME and RPMfusion drivers. BTW could you be more descriptive? I would like to better know what I'm doing so it would be easier in the future to replicate steps. Thanks.
I tried to install Rocky but I can't get the installation GUI. It stops after "when reporting a bug ....". I install it from Ventoy. Do you have any advice for me?
Hi Chris, Thanks for making this! Unfortunately, I'm stuck trying this on Rocky 9.4 at the Nvidia Dependencies Step. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running. Any guidance on this would be much appreciated!!! triple
@@TheLinuxITGuy Thanks for such a quick reply! I gave that post and it's links a read but it's over my head. I'm running a rtx 2070 super gpu, with pretty new hardware. If you could give me any pointers on what specifically to try from that post, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'll wait for your updated video. Thanks either way!
Thanks for the video. Does Rocky Linux 8.6 avoid the requirement to re-encode all the video footage? This workaround seems like a lot of trouble and not what Blackmagic would want.
Why nvidia 545, when only 535 is officially released? - and is recomended by install managers throught all distributions? I've been asking same question on mint (mint is my installation) forums, if i have to do 545, they say no - black screen, in development
"sudo dnf module install nvidia-driver:latest-dkms" pulls the latest and greatest, and it works fine for me. I was getting a black screen prior to following all these steps outlined in the video.
Followed all the set-up instructions including KDE, but post installation the boot is stuck at problem loading x.509 certificate -126. system i9-14990k 4060ti

@TheLinuxITGuy I'm new to Linux - 6 Months ago this was a nice tutorial on 'how to get things working' but I tried it lastnight and discovered the "add repo" line gives 404 error. How I resolve this?
@@TheLinuxITGuy I followed your video and used your blog for instructions. The line in your blog number 6 Install NVIDIA gives me a not found error inside Rocky. I stopped after that. Should it give me an error?

Great, informative video! That's also some serious dedication buying a 3050 just to make a tutorial for folks.
Glad it was helpful! The 3050 is for this video and for future editing. I wanted 100% Linux for the channel. Thanks for watching.

Hi trip, I'm working on this one today. 9.4 install. Stay tuned. Thanks for being patient.

Try the grub option instead of normal. If that doesn’t work use Etcher and put it on a standalone usb stick.
@@TheLinuxITGuy Thank you! I try it out.
I got it installed but via VNC. Other modes does not work for my workstation.

Wat commands to keep the genome desktop instead of kde plasma ?
You can swap sddm with gdm. You'll also have to download gnome instead of KDE.
