Linux Mint is a great choice when going from Windows, it is easy enough to use out of the box and still gives enough of customisation if one prefer that.
The biggest issue with Linux is support for proprietary software and hardware, so if you are a streamer, gamer or a musician etc.. it may give you some problems - there are ways to get around it but that requires some user skills.
If you are a semi casual user that wants a solid OS with more user control Linux Mint is great

My experience with two versions.. I installed 21.3 on my Dell XPS laptop which is fourteen years old. Everything was good except bluetooth. I was unable to connect any of my bluetooth devices like my Android phones and mice. This was the only issue with 21.3. After i installed 22 Wilma, bluetooth started working flawlessly but software manager failed to open. After I posted the issue on forums and followed expert suggestions it didn't work. All of a sudden it started working the next day lol 😃. Don't know what fixed it. After that I found two more issues, one is Nvidia native driver didn't work so I had to go with nouveau default Linux driver. Second isdue was vmware 17 failed to work because mine is an old processor. Vmware 16 also not working because of kernal modules failed to compile. I have to post in forums and get help from the experts on this. Other than these two everything else is working so far.

It doesn't look like the update is minor at best, at least at this point. It would seem a person would be updating for the sake of updating and not gaining much, if any, functionality. Considering that updates/upgrades can break things, at least at this point in time, no thanks.

You can't blame anyone for putting their own work first, anyone would do that, there is no artist who would recommend someone else's work, there is no chef who would serve someone else's cooking instead of his own, so what do you expect? But by the way Cinnamon is developed way more faster than KDE and even now it is simliper by default, but can be more extended by installing spices, you can get almost as many effects and customizations as in KDE, the most difference is that in KDE all setting are grouped, in Cinnamon they are decentralized. By this way Cinnamon is less power hungry than KDE by default, you can use it even with lower hardware, but if you have enough power you can go ahead, and install spices... And note there is no KDE distro, (KDE team does not maintaining a distro) is just a stand alone DE. You may say there is also Xfce and MATE flavors, KDE why not - so KDE is a very different technology, developed with Qt Cinnamon, Xfce, MATE all are based on GTK. And Mint team is not a big company, it's a small group doing best they can.
