I'm a 60 yr old father who does his best not to cry at the end of this film. The video the family watch of Tom Hanks as an innocent child coupled with Neil Young's voice gets me every time.
I almost began to weep at the end of the movie but it was so not pathetically directed that I did not weep, actually I had been amazed how light and joyful the ending had been done : people are smiling at the memorial, and even when the character says I'm ready, there's peace. And that was indeed utterly beautiful.
Donde la puedo ver desde el principio , la he visto muchas veces pero siempre me la encuentro cuando va mas de la mitad muchas gracias saludos desde Cali
Neil Young at his most heartbreaking and fragile. When he composes tracks of this nature, nobody can match him. A beautiful song from one of the greats.
my brother passed away from this disease in 1992. I'm not sure how many people nowadays realize how much the victims of this disease suffered in the 80s & 90s before the life extending drugs we're available. we watched my brother waste away in just a matter of months. in the end at 37 yrs of age he suffered from pneumocistis a deadly form of pneumonia that is easily cured by antibiotics but when you have no immune system it's deadly. he also lost his eyesight in his final week he had blisters covering his arms legs and in his throat. he had many other things wrong as well. to watch someone you love suffer like this is heartbreaking. my brother was a very very talented man who had so much to offer this world. so so sad. I hope to see him again someday.
Shawn Abplanalp Very sorry, for the loss of your brother man. Make a little place in your heart, that is a locker room full of memories. You will always remember the good times.

This is just too beautiful a song and it's not that Bruce's isn't a good song, it is, but this is the one I want to listen to over and over and over. So that is why this is the better song. And I agree. It was the song that had the heart of the movie. And from my experience. It is the city of brotherly love. I tripped on a sidewalk once and a woman saw it happen and sat on the ground next to me to make sure I was alright. Will never forget that. I hope she reads this. Thank you so much young lady.
I came out in 1990, scared to death I would get AIDS. So many friends died and I have no idea to this day, 30 years later, why I didn't get it. This song and movie crushes me.
I have always loved this song and it always punches me in the gut. My father recently committed suicide and I have been listening to it with his obituary up with his smiling face and it has been my process. Process to cry for him and honor him while he was here. He was a great Dad and he loved Neil Young. I love you pop.

Sometimes there are movies that reflect, highlight and also alter the climate of a part of our human history; touch an age in our common humanity.. For me "Philadelphia" will always be one of those movies. And this song is a deep part of that. Also those micro-facial expressions of Tom Hanks.. Just how.. does he capture... He and Denzel Washington were astonishing.
Neil Young song is the perfect ending for this true story of a men who lost his life to AIDS. I cry every time I listen to this song. This should have been the Oscars Best Song of the movie. I bet the theater was full of tears and extremely quite while exiting. RIP:. Andy.
Philadelphia is the last great movie made by Hollywood, a work of art, about a real life tragedy. Neil Youngs song at the end was a perfect way to end this great movie . This movie had everything, great stars, a great director, great music, and a subject that needed the light of day to shine on it
That was a time many of us lost very good friends and outstanding individuals to this horrible disease nobody understood. If you weren't alive then you don't understand how scary and Cruel this time in history was .

"At some point in your childhood, you and your friends went outside to play together for the last time and nobody knew it." Whenever I hear this song that quote springs to mind...I imagine a bunch of teenagers - on the cusp of parting ways to go to college, the workplace, to see the world etc...playing together, outside, for the last time, while this song plays in the background. As the song ends the closing shot is the group of friends walking away together, arms around one another's shoulders while two or three of them are play-fighting while walking
This song will be played at this Philadelphia girl's funeral along with Bruce's song. To me, both songs hit home and my soul. I know my hometown has its issues, but it will always be a place I love and proud to be from. GO BIRDS 💚🦅🏈

Sometimes I think that I know What love's all about And when I see the light I know I'll be all right. Philadelphia.

This song was far more in sync with the film itself, resonating more deeply with the film's story than did the other Oscar nominated song from this movie; Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia" which although won, could've really been about anyone, be it a homeless individual or someone otherwise down on their luck while suffering on the streets of Philly. Neil got it right, and hit it out of the Park.

Lyrics:
Philadelphia
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
I've got my friends in the world,
I had my friends
When we were boys and girls
And the secrets came unfurled.
City of brotherly love
Place I call home
Don't turn your back on me
I don't want to be alone
Love lasts forever.
Someone is talking to me,
Calling my name
Tell me I'm not to blame
I won't be ashamed of love.
Philadelphia,
City of brotherly love.
Brotherly love.
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
Philadelphia.
This song makes me cry💖
"Philadelphia"
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
I've got my friends in the world,
I had my friends
When we were boys and girls
And the secrets came unfurled.
City of brotherly love
Place I call home
Don't turn your back on me
I don't want to be alone
Love lasts forever.
Someone is talking to me,
Calling my name
Tell me I'm not to blame
I won't be ashamed of love.
Philadelphia,
City of brotherly love.
Brotherly love.
Sometimes I think that I know
What love's all about
And when I see the light
I know I'll be all right.
Philadelphia.
I've never had a song haunt me the way this song does, the perfect ending to a beautiful story.
Beautiful................
beautiful!
truly sad. no more tears to fall in my eyes
It must have been written before, but I think it's unbelieveable that this song didn't win the Oscar. Just my opinion. Thanks for posting.
I'm searching for my soul on hearing this song, it is before cold day's dawn.
Thank you : perfect vid for this song. I have been amazed by Denzel Washington's performance in this movie!
Molt emotiva cançó de neil young, impossible no plorar en la seqüència final de la pelicula philadelphia
As much as I love Springsteen’s song and having grown up in Freehold this resonates more. Beautiful song!
My hometown, city of brotherly love, place I call….home 🥰🥰🥰🥺🥺
This song was far more in sync with the film itself, resonating more deeply with the film's story than did the other Oscar nominated song from this movie; Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia" which although won, could've really been about anyone, be it a homeless individual or someone otherwise down on their luck while suffering on the streets of Philly. Neil got it right, and hit it out of the Park.
Actually, both were nominated. When Bruce accepted his Oscar, he said it should have gone to Neil.
Beautiful video ! Thank you !
Amo a música e o filme!❤️
So beautiful
