Today is February 3rd, 2019...60 years ago today American music changed forever! Then again on April 17th 1960 when Eddie Cochran was taken away far too soon. May they know how much they are missed!!
I’ve loved this song for years, both the Buddy Holly and Beatles version, but upon discovering this gem, this has became my favourite. Slower pacing and harmonies just elevated the song tenfold
@@wesleycook7687 This version being slowed down is what makes it better. Slowing it down makes it sound more intimate, like he is actually singing a love song to his girl, instead of singing a pop song to his girl.
@@RoadWarrior77 If Marshall Crenshaw could sing his version of Crying Waiting Hoping right then whoever this guy is a also ran.. He tried to sound like Buddy, but Crenshaw did much better..I thought it was BUSEY, but it was Gus somebody. Doesn't matter, Crenshaw has them both beat.
@@wesleycook7687 So, what is your argument, here. This isn't Marshall Crenshaw or Gary Busey. This is Gus Macgregor. I was talking about the song. To me, it sounds better slowed down, instead of how the original was sang, buddy Holly or The Beatles. Like I said in my earlier comment, with it being slowed down, it makes it sound more intimate, like you are sitting with your wife or girlfriend alone and singing it to her personally. And as far as it sounding better, there are 79 likes on the original comment, and only one on your comment saying it was too slow, so, there's that.
Me too. I first met him as occasionally playing Buddy Holly on the UK tour in Bournemouth in 1994 and then I went to watch Gus twice at the Strand on the 1000th performance of the show. He was alternate and took over from Martin Fisher
Me and my friend watched the UK tour in Bournemouth in 1994 starring Martin Fisher as Buddy Holly and Gus MacGregor (featured in the video) as an alternative Buddy. Gus later became the lead in London at the Strand Theatre
If there is anyone out there that doesnt love Buddy Holly I will go up to them and beat them senseless because he is the most caring talented artist to exist and it's hard not to love him for who he is💜💙💜💙💜💙💜rest in piece Charles Holley, love you till the end of time-Ashlee💜😢💙
True vocals, harmonies.... no digital autotuning! This live version gives a great example of how to play, sing and even end this song! Would've loved to have been in a band, back in the day, covering such songs, when I was playing in bands in my younger years. Definitely would have several Buddy Holly songs in the set lists! Music has changed a lot and we don't see/hear but very rare new songs even close to these great hits of the past. 😁
No me canso de escuchar esta hermosa canción, para mi esta versión es sin lugar a dudas mejor que la original, Dios bendiga a buddy holly donde quieras que se encuentre. Gracias por compartir este hermoso video.
I love this song ! this version is funny. Thank you so much ❤️ Buddy Holly était vraiment talentueux musicien, compositeur et chanteur. Il paraît qu’il était très marrant et il adorait plaisanter. Il est mort trop tôt et en pleine gloire. Le chanteur qui l’imite sur cette version est très bien. Chantal from Paris 😍
I’ve loved this song for years, the Buddy Holly version, this gem, this my favourite, That is a great song. this is magical, THIS IS THE ORIGINAL VERSION. regards by OROZCO III
This music is perfect slowed down, contrary to the "fast" version of Beatles and even Holly himself. About this particular interpretation, it's funny and all but wish they had made an "official" version of this beautiful song.
People…people, let’s be honest, it’s the best version of Words Of Love, ever. Buddy would approve for sure. The tempo was slowed a bit, a Telecaster (Niki Sullivan) is carrying the music. He plays it differently, adding very tasty subtleties. Another huge difference is the bass line…adding the 3rd instead of Buddy’s version going to the 5th after the the one chord. The added percussion Guiro instrument has a huge impact, as well as several backup singers with killer harmonies. This was a stage production on a huge level..they performed night after night, and obviously were TIGHT! That’s my take.
I've never heard this song at this Tempo. .its so surreal...it almost sounds like a Ween song. This man was so a head of his time...but taken too soon...
Depending on who the other guitarist in the band was, he didn't always play lead. When Tommy Allsup was playing in his band he actually deferred all of the lead work to Tommy.
Wow. All this while I thought Beatle's version was the original one. That is a great version. But this is magical.
you are utterly right Rejath..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! right
This isn't even Buddy's original recording, check that one out. Superb.

You'd be amazed at how many Buddy Holly songs The Beatles covered in their early days.
really.
Buddy was an all time great and such an influence on what came later. I love this song and have just sent it to someone special.
We can only imagine where Buddy would have taken us. A true musical genius.
If you listen closely, he's actually doing the Beatles version here more than Holly's version.
If you watch this musical, the tempo, is a bit slower than both Buddy Holly's original song and the cover by the Beatles
Well he died before the beatles were around so no
