      Because they're the staff and they are probably there everyday. This isn't good for your ears. Being infront of a good hornline like that is okay for a day or so but everyday getting your ears blasted is not good.

    One of the ear trickery things that is interesting is at the very end when they cut off. The other corps you hear in the background is holding a Bb major, but when Crown stops, you expect to hear the echo of the Bb minor. Gets me every time.

      So wait, he mentioned at the end of the tuning sequence that the trumpets go from F to a Bb. As a trumpet player, that would make sense in concert pitch, because for us it would go from our G to our tuning note C. We don't tune on our Bb, like the staff he showed represented. Does Crown actually use concert Eb scale to tune, to end on a concert Ab? That doesn't seem right

    2:10 why is “crunchy” actually the best word to describe this sound

    • @rylandcook5301
      @rylandcook5301 5 років тому +5

      “Smooth” sounds are usually major chordings and voicing, notes that tie hand in hand to each other. its the stuff thats more pleasant to hear
      “Crunchy” doesn’t flow as smooth. Dissonance and notes that don’t sound like they should be together (but sound nice in a passive-aggressive type love) break down that “feel good” flowing like sound.

    • @dennissmathers898
      @dennissmathers898 4 роки тому +4

      @@rylandcook5301 Dissonance is a wonderful thing in music, AS LONG AS it is resolved in the end. That is my beef with Blue Devil shows. They dont bother with resolution and it tends to leave me fatigued and glad they are done.
