    Sad your voice had gone, glad you recovered quickly :). I have the same M tips (costly). Did not know it was that easy to remove (steal) them :0. Anyway you can change the cold start noise with a more neighbor friendly startup roar. Take care m8!

    I'm glad I found this video since it turns out that my M2 had that exact same rattle issue with the tips. As soon as I took them off, there was zero rattle on cold start. I'm a little concerned with the tape though over extended use and heat cycles when highway driving. Have you needed to constantly reapply the aluminum tape?

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  2 роки тому

      And I'm glad this video found you buddy. It's been on my car for a couple of weeks and no issues whatsoever. I have not needed to reapply the tape, nor has any rattle come back. Having said that, the tape is heat resistant and the end of the exhaust doesn't get that hot at all. Give it a try, I would say, and I advise to rather use too much tape than too little.

      Did the same to mine today, it’s not completely gone(I can still see slightly a vibration during the coldstart) but it’s definatelly 10 times better as it was before.

  • @Miggel_M2

    Thanks voor de tip maat! Vandaag meteen getest en moet zeggen het is echt 10x beter, helaas niet helemaal weg(optisch vibreert het nog lichtelijk bij de coldstart) maar voor 5 euro zeker een vooruitgang!

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  2 роки тому +1

      Mooi om te horen makker. Eerste keer was het bij mij ook nog niet compleet weg. Toen ik er later nog meer tape omheen deed, wel. Beter te veel dan te weinig tape in dit geval! Optisch vibreert ie inderdaad ook nog steeds bij mij

    My rattle unfortunately is from a broken weld on the right side.
    Another UA-cam publisher created a video showing how he TIG welded a break in his MPE. Mine broke in the exact same spot.
    I'm thinking about buying a Dinan steel exhaust. No shop in Raleigh, NC welds titanium with TIG.
    Anyone know if the MPE carbon fiber tips will fit the Dinan resonator?

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  27 днів тому

      Am I correct that your M2 is a pre-facelift? The earlier version MPE’s had cracking-issues

  • @joejefferson

    You know you can align the tips by eye then tighten down so they are even, right?

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  Рік тому

      Yes, but they would then still vibrate. You have to knock ‘em on there all the way

    Just code out the cold start, and have happy enngine and rod bearings not running with very hard ignition timing :D

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  2 роки тому

      It can only be turned off with the help of a tune, not with coding unfortunately! Would love to have cold start deleted one day though

    • @ianmichaelbryant2643
      @ianmichaelbryant2643 3 місяці тому

      Cold start uses an ignition map with less advanced timing ... that why the exhaust is louder, theoretically this is actually kinder to your rod bearings... :)

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  2 роки тому +1

      You’re welcome mate. No issues at all, just wrenched on the car a couple of days ago just after driving and the tips don’t get hot enough to cause any issues. Don’t use duct tape though, I would say

      @@TheHunterHofman Thank you. Can we use WD-40 to clean the M tips?

    • @TheHunterHofman
      @TheHunterHofman  Рік тому +1

      @@steph34 yeah that would work, as long as the tips are clean and dry afterwards. The friction of the tape between the tips and the exhaust stops the tips vibrating. Also, rather use too much aluminum tape than too little! Good luck

      Maybe you have an older exhaust, check for cracks in the exhaust (around the tips somewhere). Also check if everything is tightened securely. Hope that helps, you’re welcome
