- The S.S. Badger car ferry based in Ludington, Michigan makes the trip across to Manitowoc, Wisconsin and back daily. The 410-foot ferry was built in 1952 and is now a National Historic Landmark. The Badger can carry 600 passengers and 180 automobiles in a single trip across the lake and does it in about 4 hours.

@@EperogiLimousine Actually it is a *big deal.* The several-ton counterweight has to be pulled from the depths of the Lake. The repairs are extensive, costly and the loss of business (600 passengers per crossing) plus the loss of the night crossing business, and the impact on both communities of Ludington and Manitowoc are part of the effects, no small deal. The spokespeople for the SS Badger have publicly said as much. Why are you in denial?
