At 4:49 ... you have WIlt Chamberlain under the basket. Yo know, the guy who is 7'1". The guy who has at least a 40" veritcal. The guy who high jumps 6'6". Who is rumored to be able to touch the top of the backboard and the dunk from the free throw line. The guy who dunked on 12' rims in the Kansas gyms. NC's starting center, Rosenbluth fouled out, so Wilt is being fronted by 6'9" Joe Quigg. So what do you decide to do with 5 seconds left on the clock in order to get the ball to Wilt for the game winning shot? You throw the entry pass at a height of about 9' so that Joe Quigg can easily tap it away. Makes sense.
Really enjoyed seeing full highlights of this game in the style of the time. My one issue is that it looked to me that Chamberlain never fouled Quigg on that play that led to the game winning free throws. I don't see how any ref could have thought that was anything other than a clean block. I saw no body contact there really. Was that considered a bad call at all in its time? Was there controversy?
I'm no basketball fan, but this newsteel footage of this basketball game.. It's editing, it's announcing, just really made me get wrapped up in the suspense of it all! What a nail-biter!
Wilt Chamberlin & Jayhawks got hosed in 3rd Overtime. KU up 1 with 20secs left? UNC had ball and Wilt make a CLEAN game-winning block but called for a foul. UNC hits both FTs and wins.
I was 10 years old when that game was played. I was a huge Wilt fan so I was very disappointed in the outcome. Since the, I’ve never been a Carolina fan!
His Kansas team wasn't as well rounded as North Carolina. He had to put up 30+ points and 20+ rebounds consistently. He did have capable players, but teams got wise obviouly that the pass would go to Chamberlain. That last pass was really bad to him, 2 inches higher of a pass and Wilt doesn't think about this loss for the rest of his life, which he did. He was tormented by it.

3:25 how to do you miss clutch fts like that?
10 years later in 1967 UNC had their first Black player.

Lol Wilt’s free throw attempt in the first overtime was so bad. Go heels!!
Absurd Kansas Jayhawks lost this game with 7'1 Wilt!
In the NBA Wilt's team lost a number of key playoff games when he had a big physical advantage over the opposing center.
Way to go guys, NOW KANSAS WILL BE SEEKING REVENGE TONIGHT!
(kidding of course, lol)
Would’ve lost if Bacot didn’t get an leg injury.
We got our revenge Rock Chalk
