See I’m the complete opposite! I HAVE to have first trumpet, for 2 reasons. 1: I despise low notes, i find them hard to play (which i know is weird) 2: To me it’s easier to have main melody because I listen to the songs while i practice so i have the rest the band, so i get used to the main melody and which section to listen to for cues (I can’t count and play sometimes 😅)

My high school band (in Ohio) did the Script Ohio routine. It just takes practice, plus steady nerves at the cross-throughs and trusting your bandmates to do the same.

The marching band is only brass and percussion. But you can either learn a brass instrument (many wind players have done that and gotten in) or join the OSU Athletic band! It doesn't have as much prestige as the marching band but it allows woodwinds :)

Osus band is based on a traditional brass band so no woodwinds, and theres flugelhorns and eb cornets along with your average brass instruments like trumpet trombone and sousa. Provides a very unique sound for the band
