Thank you. Sooo well done. Sure hope the border opens so we ca get to GPN this September. Being in a better place now, bring it, next album please.lol Ottawa
Your music as well, as your presence touches soo deep and soo powerful, you impact my life in soo many positive ways! Thank you for being you and sharing your gift with us. Hope to see you soon. Stay well
It amazes me when an artist like Grace Potter isn't a super star right now. There is no auto anything. This is simply one of the best songs to this day and it should have millions of views. This is well written & well delivered. Heck, if someone says that this song doesn't make them feel... then they are a LIAR or a ROBOT [do not engage]. Look at everything Grace Potter & the Nocturnals have provided. These songs are some of the best lyrics and compositions of the time. She will be remembered, maybe not now, but I know she will be & forevermore. Just trust me, when you are dead you will wish you listened to this. I know you're reading my comment probably long after I posted it (thanks for reading!). This generation is in culture shock, and you should feel released from that pressure right now, if you have read that much of this post. Songs like this will stick and that applies the same for everything they produce. I fell in love with the album of 'This is Somewhere'. Check it out if you're bored... or even if you are not, you deserve it!
It amazes me when people make comments like yours. Musical taste is personal- just because you think something is great doesn't mean everyone else does.
@@stevenbauer1730 This is not a matter of taste. Grace Potter is unarguably a great talent and energetic entertainer with a phenomenal voice. This song is very well written and delivered. If you don't like it, you don't appreciate good music.
@@stevenbauer1730I get where your coming from, but I think that backtracks and auto tuning does serve a purpose in some aspects of any music scene. Take as an example performing a live concert where a good lot of the songs you’re doing are high energy types that require dancing and singing, it’s very hard to sing and dance, you run out of the breath that you need to just be able to get through the song, you wind up sounding like a workout instructor who’s doing a cardio class or something. This is where using backtracks and some auto tuning is beneficial. Now as far as artists like Grace Potter, they fall into that category of artists that just want to share their music with the world. They want the world to just hear their music. I’m not saying that mainstream artists don’t desire the same or that they don’t have songs with deep and powerful, emotion inducing messages like this song, I’m saying that mainstream musicians and non mainstream are different in that aspect. It’s like an interviewee I watched in a video about Sarah Bareilles several years ago when Sarah Bareillis was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year for her album Blessed Unrest, the interviewee said that artists like her will continue having a music and performing arts career long after most of the mainstream artists have outlived their relevancy. They don’t fit Hollywood’s definition of beauty or talent standards.
About 15ish years ago 2 of my friends and I were downtown and some guys on the street were trying to get more people to buy tickets for a concert at a local venue... so knowing nothing about the artist we bought tickets and it was a Grace Potter show. One of the best spontaneous decisions I've ever made and still one of the best shows I've ever seen. She gets better and better.
If there are artists who do what they do almost too well to reach the pinnacle of popularity -- Eva Cassidy, Gordon Lightfoot -- then Grace Potter is one of them. I hope this crazy music world will eventually see fit to give her the recognition she deserves.
Releasing the man I loved for 28 years and probably always love........pride and money won his heart and crowded me out. So, I will release him and wish him well.
Absolutely beautiful song AND video. True forgiveness is one of the most freeing things we can do for OURSELVES....and one of the HARDEST things to do. Bravo, young lady!!!!
As always another great song from Grace. Hits home with just 3 years out of the love of my life walking out to 'find himself'. Big hurt for both of us. Praying for him all the time.
Grace has matured into a superstar musician. She is amazing in everything she does and this song is just another step into her proper place in music. I've loved her music since near the beginning and still am amazed by her voice and talent. Saw her right before Covid in Wash DC and can't wait til we're allowed to be in the same room so we can all see her again!
2021 is the year I release myself from the pain that I am in, the pain that holds me back. Your video reminds me of a dream I had almost 3 years ago to the day. For me it was a mermaid tied as a trophy to the front of my boat, like a figurehead on an old sailing ship. I had captured the very thing that was taking my life. Xo 🙏🏽
WOW! What an Emotionally Powerful Song! I cried just reading the words, & then watching the video, it was just like...I don't know, I'm kinda speechless right now. I think I need to watch this over & over, & just have a good cry!
Letting go of something that was supposed to be your savior and in the end was holding you down. Letting go of the weight that prevented you from moving on. Sometimes I think that I am there but perhaps there is still a rope tied to it because once in awhile I get pulled back down.
Omg!! What a beautiful song that can be interpreted so many ways, but I have read so many people suffer from being depressed.for the people out there that suffer with depression , I pray they hear this , your depression can be released! There is hope you can climb from the darkness , you don’t have to be a slave to those emotions. Thank you Grace for your beautiful voice and words, and spreading hope into our world that needs it now ! May you my dear be very blessed for your beautiful work and art . ❤️
Dang it, Grace. This is incredibly beautiful. Incredibly human. I've followed you for a lot of years but somehow missed this until today... maybe today was the day I needed it? I'm not crying. You're crying. Thank you.
I thought I can’t look at the stars was my very favorite. This one is right up there with it. How beautiful and how it touched my heart. Thank you Grace ❤️
There's something so powerful and universal about this song. The composition is reminiscent of church music, giving it an almost religious grativas, and the lyrics speak to the pain and liberation in letting go, something most of us have experienced. And, of course, the raw sincerity in Grace Potter's vocal delivery.
Such a lovely and powerful voice. She puts so much of herself in the songs she sings. Her voice seems so powerful and fragile at the same time. She stays true to herself. Hell, I guess I'm in love.
Best singer/songwriter in my lifetime. When I first heard "Paris", I was like.. Eh, ok. good voice, but a little weird. Then I heard some of her other music, and was intrigued... Then I heard "Things I Never Needed" and was hooked. Total fan. Then she drops "Release" on us, and I'm OBSESSED! Totally obsessed!
Timing is everything. I needed this! I would not want to introduce my current situation to my highest self. I release the toxicity that kept me bound and what I thought was love and is not.🎈😭✨💖🙏 thanks Grace amazing song and I watched your live before the premier it was great. Again timing is everything 🙏✨💖 Gods blessings ✨💖🙏
My grandfather passed away this evening. The timing of this couldn't be more perfect. Thank you Grace, for putting a visual to the unexplaninable feels linked to grief.
Grace Potter--you are a saving grace. A voice to instill belief.' I hope the sun will shine again'--always and forever. Music is something to believe in--and you just simply let it shine. Thank you.
Absolutely one of my favorite songs. I just discovered it on iTunes and Grace-you are absolutely just so amazing!!! This song makes goosebumps all over every time, brings tears to my eyes!
It's such a relative song in that most people hold back, for what ever reason(s), until realising that "they" have the power to "Release" themselves from so many things... At least that is what this song means to me...Great video story and what else can one say about the amazing vocal talents of Grace Potter, except that the lyrics are just as amazing...
Beautiful music video. Amazing. Such a powerful song. I cry every time I hear it on Daylight. I experienced heartbreak sometime ago and Grace was able to put my feelings into words. Thank you, Grace. Your lyrics never cease to amaze.
I remember you singing this live for your last song in Orlando about a year ago. I was in tears and had full on goosebumps. 😭 Thank you for being my absolute biggest inspiration not only in music but in life as well. Much love and prosperity to you, Grace!! ❤️
Great song great lyrics. I love Grace. Her music and lyrics always move me deeply. Thank you Grace for this incredible song. Cheers from Montreal, Canada.
This song, and album helped me through the loss of a friend this past year. Her Twilight lives brought light during the pandemic. I hope some day I'll be able to thank her in person. She's help guide me through some dark times.
I to lost an Aunt & a friend to Covid. Sorry for your loss Dragonfly23. Music, arts & crafts, cooking, gardening, painting, photography 🎨 are all proven healing therapy. To me, Grace Potter's music & lyrics helps sooth our broken 💕🥰!
Dear Grace, You just sang my life! I turned 62 a few days ago. Been in an abusive relationship for over 25 years. I dream of my freedom. But I need to let my own bonds go 1st. Thank you for helping me to see it! Thank you Grace!
Amazing! Unreal power in her voice & Grace gives this message the beauty & strength that these song lyrics require!! Love Grace’s music & ‘Release’ is a much needed topic that most would never have the guts/balls to say to someone they truly love! Great start to 2021! ❤️⛓❤️🕊
This song feels like going to church! A sermon that you hear at just the right moment!! YOU are an amazingly talented and beautiful soul!! Thank you for sharing your passion with us! So grateful I was able to see the intro also!! God Bless you and your family!! Can’t wait to see you live again!! ❤️🙏🏻🤞🏼
OMG I came here after watching that legendary performance covering Cortez the Killer with Joe Satriani & an immense trumpet player as well & I discover your work just now, so congrats from France, I'm blown away by your talent & will discover other videos of your songs & covers. Soulful, sensitive, with your own style, this is impressive & caught me (almost) off guard...Love your piano playing too🙏
This song touches my heart in so many different things I've been through and people need to bow down to these beautiful lyrics your voice is so beautiful.
I fail to comprehend ANY circumstance under which this would be considered a "thumb's down". Absolutely beautiful! I love this song. First ever I've heard from this artists. Listened to her NPR interview this morning and decided to come check the song out.
Check out Grace and The Nocturnals on youtube. You'll be pleasantly surprised.I'm 73 and in my opinion GPN the second best band after Bruce and the E St Band. The highest praise i can give. No show is ever the same. I've seen dozens of different versions of 222 and Stop The Bus for example. Check em out. I just can't believe they've never been on SNL.One last thing. Scott Tournet and Benny Yurco are the best twin leads I've ever seen A TRUE rock and roll band!!
I have not been touched by the emotion and the deeper meaning of a song for a long time. This one did it. I also love the simplicity of the music production and the way the vocal was mixed. It sounds raw at times which makes it so authentic. Great video as well. Love the last shot which leaves the room for interpretation. Would be great to know from the writers why they chose to end the video like that.
An absolutely beautiful melody and composition. The cinematography is fantastic. Thank you for sharing your talents to the world. It helps bring us some light in this dark world.
Thank you for conveying your pain into this beautiful piece. I've been healing and doing the work, but this truly was the the pain I need to let go... forgiveness. 💋♥️🙏💯
What a beautiful visual representation of internal struggle. The gorgeous rope work, cinematography and amazing voice is a powerful collaboration of art! Thank you for sharing this with me and the world. Truly moved.
Yes yes yes! That gorgeous rope work. And if that’s any representation of her relationship and the utter intimacy I firsthand know that practioners have is even more crushing and a release. I’m fighting with the same demons and not sure I can break the bonds…
Wow! Grace I been having this battle today. About letting go of a good friend. Somethings i am finding out does not set well within me. Then i somehow came across your video tonight. I have discovered many times over. You will always have yourself if your true to yourself in the end! Letting go just really makes you stronger.
The last good woman that left Vermont, took the last good reason to go back. Release. Pretty song. Puts a horizon on a Low Road. Still feel a longing, along this long way home. But I'm not alone with this release. Peace. Love. Release.
Hello Lori, How are you doing today? It’s really nice having you on here. I saw your profile on here and i think we definitely are on the same page on many levels. Trust, communication, loving, God fearing, honoring, understanding, patience and respecting your partner. So crucial to provide balance. This is what creates such great chemistry between two people that are committed to one another. Wish you a prosperous, blessed new year seasons and also wish you all the best of lucks in all aspects of your Life 🙏❤️🌹
Grace, I just discovered your music. You don't know how much I needed this song. Short story is, covid sucks and it's been hard on relationships. I think that covid has simply amplified relationships. If a relationship is strong it becomes stronger, if it's struggling it really struggles. The lyrics, the mood, and the emotion of this song express exactly how I've been feeling. Listening to you sing them has in a way, allowed me to vocalize what I have not been able to. To experience your own sunshine and hope that the other person, someday is able to see the sunshine in their own world and eventually release, is such a beautiful description. This is one of the songs I will always remember thank you so much for writing it.
I have been a professional session player, songwriter, and performing musician for over sixty years. This is one of THE greatest tunes I've ever heard. Thank you, Grace. Beautiful job. Hope to see you in my hometown (Atlanta).
Thanks so much for tuning in and chatting, everyone!
You are so talented and beautiful. THANK YOU for your music.
Thanks for your voice, your talent, your big heart. God bless you and your family

I don't always listen to Grace Potter but when I do the neighbors cry too
If break up can be beautiful this is it.
Wow! All I can say is wow! The lyrics, The voice, The Soul! I am in tears!

So awesome, you guys killed it! Much love, Rock and roll!
I just found Grace today, what a marvelous talent!

MARVELOUS. Powerful and vulnerable. Right through my heart and down my spine. Beautiful.
I got to apologize to myself because I met this song just now.
The music, the lyrics, the video with a powerful finale: thank you, Grace Potter.
I have been a professional session player, songwriter, and performing musician for over sixty years. This is one of THE greatest tunes I've ever heard. Thank you, Grace. Beautiful job. Hope to see you in my hometown (Atlanta).
