Kind of recently, I stumbled upon the Cortez the Killer cover with Joe Satriani. I had to reevaluate my whole life, to figure out why I have not been listening to Grace Potter. That cover is one of the best songs I have ever listened too. So I have been trying to find all thing Grace Potter to listen to, since Cortez.
Wow! She's just so casual, relaxed and then all hell breaks loose! My mind got blown away by her sultry singing and her impressive slide playing! Highly impressed! Now excuse me why I go look for my mind that was blown away it hasn't returned!
Based on what she does here, her slide playing is not impressive, it's extremely basic rhythm playing. She's in an open tuning and just playing the chords, or notes, by barring the slide across all the strings. She's not doing any single note runs or anything else, like a real slide player. It's decent rhythm playing, solid and tight, bur anyone who plays half decent can do what she's doing with about 5 minutes of practice.
@@rodjohnson3045 she manages to hit less than a quarter of the notes she means to. As evidenced by the last riff of the video. I am iron man. She’s lucky she’s cute.
What a talented Lady!! She got it going on!! Love her rendition of this song.. She "truly owns it"..on soooooo Many levels.. OMG I can't get enough of her or this song!! Keep up the great work, Grace!
this is absolutely amazing, fresh and authentic. Congratulations from Catalonia, Spain. You have made a sad 40-year-old math teacher, who once played in a bogguie group, want to play the electric guitar again (I only play the acoustic guitar now) and sing without shame. Thank you.
Holy Crap!!! That was just AMAZING!!! She is So BAD-ASS HOW have I not heard of her before until recently when I was recommended to watch "Grace & Frankie", & she's singing/performing the theme song. I am Definitely a new fan!
she is a great person an musician. F....rules of big business, does not allow to bring the "best" on Top. Same of Your President...(sorry) Regards from Germany!
I remember seeing Grace and the Nocturnals, several years ago, great show, and years later, Ive gotten older and Grace stays eternally young and brimming with talent
This clamped down version with the slide guitar and the fractured bass riff is intriguing; it's like a musical beast expending enormous energy to break free, demanding your attention toward the inevitable. Fascinating take on a classic. KDM
Great music always inspires reinterpretation but this song has always been a tall order. It is more about capturing fire and passion than technique or variation on themes. There are probably 10 million guitarists in the world who could shred this into oblivion and vocalists who can cover it but how do we bring the raw emotive power, angst and yearning of Whole Lotta Love to the surface in a fresh way and also keep it authentic? She really owned this song and gave it new life much as Hendrix did with "All Along The Watch Tower" or SRV did with "Little Wing". A true interpretation, not a cover. This performance has real artistic integrity. Grace is now on my Essential Listening list. Thanks
Grace Potter: "Way, way down inside, ooh you know I needed it" OMG, please girl don't tease me like that!!😊😊. Grace is beyond awesomeness!!. She took "Whole Lotta Love" and made it her own!❤❤ Also, congratulations to the bass player and drummer. They sounded great.
Somebody's been wood shedding. Rock our socks off Grace when everything is back up and running. I hope some great music comes out of this pandemic pause. Looking forward to some live music again!
Wow. Great job, Grace! This is one of those scant few cover tunes that adds a little something extra while still honoring the original and KICKS A$$ in the process!
Heard Grace & the Nocturnals while doing laundry in Bar Harbor. Some crazy live music bar with a laundromat in the back?! This song is just what they were rocking out to the year before they hit the national scene.
Outstanding!!! Grace covers the 70's like no other. Awesome stuff !!! I think that a glass slide is nicer only because then the fingers don't stink so bad :)
First saw you at Cains Ballroom in April of ‘08, opening for Gov’t Mule. Was absolutely blown away by your voice, stage presence and how tightness of The Nocturnals sound. So impressed that I drove to Little Rock to see y’all the following night. My wife and I were outside before the show and got to meet you while you were walking “Kick”. Needless to say, we were more impressed with you offstage than on and have been fans ever since. I do miss the sound of the original Nocturnals lineup. You guys really had something special. A result of hard work and dedication, raw talent and God-given ability, a blessing and a curse. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to see y’all back then and remain grateful to you for sharing so much of your life through such great songs. It’s good to see you’re still kicking ass and sounding great! Thanks for the music. Rock On! 🤘🏻
@@officialWWM You should see her with Joe Satriani singling and playing Cortez the Killer by Neil Young. One of the best videos on UA-cam and she just exudes sex appeal. This is O.K. but THAT was SOMETHING ELSE!
2:28 you got SOUL there Lady. And similar to Samantha Fish too ❤ I've just moved into a similar house in New Zealand, absolutely huge, no neighbours and heavenly ambience. My mic stand emulates yours but I lack the professional aspect but music has been a huge inspiration all my life. Have a fabulous weekend coming up 🌟
Every time I hear Grace Potter sing I feel like there just isn't a blues song or rock song that's capable of fully utilizing her vocal talent
This is one of the coolest renditions of this song I have ever heard. Thanks.
Boring as hell

Grew up on Zeppelin. Outstanding cut Grace! You'll never grow old with Rock & Roll. I'm 72 but feel 27.

Dude that performance was peak musicianship all throughout. Epic

I love Zeppelin. Her vocal energy just blew me away. My god, chills down the spine.
Wow. For the first time after all these years, this is the first time I've liked a version that's as good as the original. Wow. 😀
That is how to take a classic and make it your own! From the bluesy slide to the fuzzy bass to her vocals, it was like a new song!
This is the Grace Potter style with which I fell in love. I’m sure Robert Plant is proud.
Of course
Grace Potter is fabulous! This rendition of the song held me spellbound, and trickled into my soul where all my senses were alive!
What a talented Lady!!
She got it going on!!
Love her rendition of this song..
She "truly owns it"..on soooooo
Many levels.. OMG I can't get enough of her or this song!!
Keep up the great work,
Grace!
What a unique cover but still very true to the rock classic! Love it!! ❤
Grace Porter ‘s taking of the Led Zep’s ‘whole lotta love’ to a whole new level with slide guitar playing thrown in for good measure.
Don't forget its based on a Muddy Waters song, written by Willie Dixon.
Hands down the best cover of this song that I've heard.
this is for me the best cover.....ua-cam.com/video/jM6_wOCdD5I/v-deo.html

Sensuality ooozes thick in the great Grace fashion of classic Zepplin. Kudos to Grace's greatness!
The bass completely sets this song on fire. That whole fuzzy wah thing is an absolute music orgasm.
People tend to overuse the phrase talented and beautiful, but my god, woman. Love this arrangement and the fuzz on the bass.
💓Omg....my absolute 2 favorites in this world....Grace Potter and LED ZEP!!! YOU JUST MADE MY WHOLE NIGHT!! LOVE YOU!!!
That Gracie's a little badass, ain't she? She sure has a voice that was made for the Blues. This was a nice surprise today.

First thing I saw this morning. This and one cup of coffee and I am good for the day.
