Ghost is Tobias' brainchild. And when you sue someone, you have to be bonded in case you do harm. That's why the judge ruled the the former members suing have to pay Tobias' legal costs of defending the suit. It's obvious that Tobias can plug new Ghouls in and out at will and they maintain the Nameless Ghoul vibe. I think he's a genius. I have even more respect for him now. He came up with the idea. It's rightful that he should control its direction.
There was obviously some misunderstanding about how the concept/project of Ghost was to run. But as others have mentioned, when the band is given faceless masks to wear, it should have alerted them very early about how much prominence they would get in the project. Always great to collaborate with people, but sometimes getting facts straight, from the outset (and maybe written down on paper so there's no later confusion), helps ease any angst that may lead to legal cases. Lawyers are the winners here.

What Forge did was Brilliant. He controls the band, his companys control the financial side AND all his side players are invisible and interchangeable. He went to court and presumably said I paid my contractual wages to the musicians and they don't own or are not the band. Any employer that ever told me that profits would be paid when the band was profitable, I would not work one minute for. Like Richard Marx sung, unless you have a signed contract, words are completely meaningless in business. Forges business model in rock groups is iron clad and brilliant. If a side player gets a little too uppity and wants more money, just fire him and give his mask to a new ringer. That being said, I bet forge paid the side guys well and they got to tour the world at major arenas. The side guys got to be rock stars without the hard work.
Congratz, Forge. I'm happy to see you'll be able to put this mess behind you, now. And it's understandable he countersued, since the former band members destroyed his anonymity. I've met Forge, and you can sense how dear his privacy is to him when he's out of character. So for destroying that bit of freedom he had, on top of an attempt at slander, I feel that Forge deserves some recompense on that note.
This sets a nice precedent for other such bands. The fact is, folks, get your paperwork straight or pay the consequences. There's nothing wrong with being session players, but there's definitely something wrong with pretending you own someone else's IP. Great news.
So how about that new video for Dance Macabre, pretty awesome stuff. I hope Ghost makes like an epic musical movie or something with the next chunk of material.
They did a really good job of choosing a young Sister Imperator for the roll of this video and the short story clips leading to the introduction of Cardinal Copia, tour dates, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they did come out with something like that later. I'm guessing it would be pretty awesome.
Don’t get me wrong the nameless ghouls are fantastic musicians and definitely create a nice demonic ambience, but Tobias is the leader. He is the lead singer, the creator, the distinctive figure, and the main personality. Any Musician know they will take backseat to the lead.
Just because you're the lead singer and predominant figure doesn't make it your band...look at other bands where the dominate figure isnt the leader of the band..KISS, Van Halen, Metallica, AC/DC, and others

I don't think we will ever know the entire truth behind all of this. I really find it hard to believe that the former members considered themselves to be equal partners that whole time while clearly never receiving an equal split. Wouldn't they have questioned that much earlier? At the same time, for Tobias to call them hired guns and say that he was the sole creative input just seems ludicrous to me. Omega (Martin) was there from the beginning and his style of playing and his licks are very unique. I hear his uniqueness in the earlier ghost albums, yet Tobias claims none of the earlier members to had any creative input. It just doesn't add up.
Now that we know the real story, Martin Persner wasn’t there from the beginning. But he still helped. His input was valued at the time and he was credited/paid accordingly. That’s why he didn’t sue. Everyone else had no leg to stand on in this case.
Well done Tobias! You freaking genius, he controls the band and is the mastermind behind it, he can exchange the band mates whenever he wants because they are wearing masks so the audience can’t form an attachment towards them. He’s an artist but also understands the business behind the music. Truly a genius!

it wasn't unfairly. clearly, the court ruled that they should have known they was hired, and payed fairly. Claiming they owned Tobias IP is what was unfair. And they lost the case.
He's the Genesis of the whole thing. Been there since year zero according to my monstrance clock. But I believe the judge can now see the light. It's a sin if he'd have chosen to not give him absolution. But now the band is his, body and blood.
It has been clear from the outset that the concept and creative energy in the band, as well as leadership in the band, has been Tobias all along. The court decision confirms this.
I firmly believe Ghost is better off without them. Watching them in concert was one of the greatest experiences in my life. With the personality of Cardinal Copia and the Ghouls, it's a show you have to see once in your life.
Dead Coyote Not the biggest Ghost fan, but I saw them at a festival in 2014 and they definitely put on the best performance out of all the bands, except for maybe Babymetal.

Tobias created Opus alone, he created the rest of the albums almost alone, Martin (Omega) did some stuff like the solo for He Is and he didn't even sue. Tobias is Ghost, the Ghouls were just hired to play his songs and got what they deserved, them Rats. Oh and they have to pay about 476 thousand Euros in total :)
Happy about it? No. The fact any of this happened broke my heart. The band was incredible before the split. His hired guns act just as hired guns would. Not enough presence on stage. Like I said, it breaks my heart. But it means ghost will go on. And that’s good. I wish the Former ghost members success and happiness. They deserve it. They are awesome.

Ghost have been a huge succes. Many award wins, including a Grammy. A big tour with Metallica in 2019. Cardinal Copia will be an album guest with Till Lindeman. Of course not to mention millions of fans, how many albums they sold out, rats music video etc.
I remember Ghost being comprised of many of his FRIENDS that were in his former bands, so I can't help but think that he did have former friends in Ghost, in the beginning of GHOST. But, I guess he has taken over GHOST, and has hired GHOULS, and really GHOST is a great managerie of musicians, I am thinking he has had many musicians that are in other bands, and they are just taking some time away from their bands and having fun playing in GHOST. I could swear that James Hetfield has played guitar in GHOST on a song or 2. James has admitted to likeing GHOST, and I am sure I had seen him playing for GHOST, I had seen a GHOUL that had James's body and stance playing Guitar, I';m a Metallica fan, so, really, I know it was James Hetfield. When GHOST first formed Tobias had his friends play the instruments, some fans had actually knew the names of the GHOULS, but, NOW, it is GHOULS FOR HIRE. I will admit that I love all the GHOST music I've ever heard, so I love ghost no matter what, but, I would like if they did have a band of some sort, but, really, I guess, I will just have to come to terms with the fact that GHOST will always be a non band, meaning TOBIAS will sing, and each new CD will comprise of TOBIAS, AND a new bunch of musicians.
You are correct in saying that he has had friends on board from the beginning. They've just changed along the way and other players have taken their places. Tobias started things alone. Then his friend Gustav Lindström (ex-Repugnant, Tobias's death metal band) helped him record the demos for Opus Eponymous and ended up playing on the album. The drummer on Opus, Ludvig Kennberg, has continued to play with Ghost, performing on all full length releases, except Infestissumam. Simon Söderberg helped with recording Opus and then stayed on as Tobias needed live musicians. Then came Martin Persner to be the other guitarist. Things went on from there and the bassists and drummers have changed regularly. As you might see, Tobias didn't take over Ghost. It was always his creation.
In response to comments below, yes, Tobias is Ghost, main writer etc and I love the band (Prequelle f'n kills). BUT, none of us know the details of this lawsuit. I myself can't call it a "victory" without the knowing of happenings. All I can say is, I'd be pissed if I wasn't paid.
All of the court documents are translated and available on reddit. The Ghouls were paid what Tobias could afford, often using his own money from music writing royalties to do so. They wanted more and more, which he did give raises when he could. Then the 2016 lineup of Ghouls started blackmailing Tobias with not playing and sabotaging shows. He made a short term deal to finish the tour and fired them afterwards. I would. One person created Ghost, writes the majority of music, handles all business and creative. The others play his songs live and want 5/6ths of the money.

If Tobias, promotes, takes care of deals etc., why would the others get the same amount of money for less work? Sure, you have royalties and that is separate, but sharing profits equally? Martin Persner, for instance, should have earned more that Mauro since he was more involved. Sounds absurd to even suggest such an agreement. Tobias invested into the band. He gambled a lot. Not like he didn't have anything to lose. I think that is why he has been a bit of a control freak. He has a vision of what Ghost is and he has a lot riding on it all.
Simple answer... they are payed musicians, and the only Nameless Ghoul that had any input that I know of was Omega, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t part of the lawsuit. Not to mention the whole lawsuit was dismissed by the court, what part of that did you not get. Plus the ex nameless ghouls have to pay a good part of Tobias attorneys fees. Sounds like a frivolous lawsuit out of greed to me.
No Martin Persner aka Omega was not in the lawsuit, as he quit the band in 2016. As far as the band not being paid enough, apparently the court thought they did. They lost the lawsuit, and they should have to pay on the grounds it was all a bs.
Sounds good to me. If they were in it from beginning, then I would side with them in some ways. But they werent. It was always him essentially collaborating with different artists, we just never knew who they were. Even in just that aspect, he deserves the bigger cut.

Yeah, I'm glad he is doing MCC again. However, he might have not left on his own accord. At the time it happened, it was said that he was voted out. Now I don't know if that is true, but if it is, I'd like to know why.

Or if he left because he declined the contract that was presented at that time. He wasn't happy with it and neither was Tobias (These are Martin's words. Later, new contracts were made up, but by then Martin was gone). But Martin's departure is definitely a bit of a mystery.
Ghost is Tobias Forge, I hope along the way he finds definitive partners that contribute positively to Ghost, making it a band in the true sense of the term, but as it stands, it is what it is.
AfaIk, there are no touring member changes so far in 2018, the most ghoul shifting took place in late 2016 and early 2017. The 2018 kick ass along with the ghoulettes and I hope they stay.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Omega back on stage, I do believe Tobias has found some incredible musicians to work with. The wife and I have spent an insane amount of money on tickets for shows this year and are eagerly awaiting the ones coming up late November, early December as well as two coming up in February in Sweden. We can't wait to go back to Sweden. We absolutely love it there. Although, last year when we went, there was a white supremacists rally/march being organized in the soccer field right across the street from our hotel in Gothenburg. It ended up taking us over an hour to get from the train station to our hotel due to the number of streets that were blocked off. Nevertheless, it was nothing short of amazing being there and seeing the last two rituals with Papa III.

In an old interview around Meliora's release he mentioned that Spoksonat was taken from a future song we'll hear titled Rats. So Rats was written years ago around the same time as Meliora. However vocals are the last thing to be recorded and in that 3 year gap between those two albums he had the lawsuit over his head and I'm sure some lyrics reflected that.
The difference is that the original Alice Cooper band had 5 members,as a proper band. Alice, Glen Buxton, Micheal Bruce, Dennis Dunaway, and Neil Smith They were together until 1975,whereas it seems that Tobias claims that Ghost was never formed as a band. After the original AC band split,then Alice kept using different band members,...still does. Not properly formed band.
So... they claimed they weren't paid "adequately" by Tobias, meaning he was in charge of paying them. Hmm... could that perhaps be because he effing hired them to do a job? LOL
For the longest time nine inch nails was only Trent Reznor, before Atticus Ross came along. But I think Trent made it pretty clear he was in charge, and therefore there was no need for a lawsuit.
I bet Martin Persner is REALLY GLAD he wasn't part of this suit!! The band members could not prove they weren't getting paid properly, but that doesn't mean it wasn't true. Forge should have been more transparent about the books.. and the suing former bandmates should have stuck to the "we didn't get paid" claim and not have tried to claim controlling interest.

I saw them 3 nights Ago in Peoria illinois Nov 2 2018 friday..Cardinal Copia did his best the show was above ..Goin places Cause now its full force ahead and ger back to whats inportant the music..They were all good by there own right.. The Cardinal will take it beyond his showmanship is beyond words he is the part to the fullest ...Its gonna get good now... and the band was powerful then words can say..The sound shook the foundation ppl could not get enough..Ppl drove 10 hours to be there from all places ..Im definitely goin to New york in Dec for there last performance before they go back to Sweeden...hell ya well worth the 24 hour drive... Till the world goes boom ! Cardinal Copia to the fullest...
I will still listen to Ghost and do like Tobias as the ":Cardinal" and the Papa's etc, BUT, Martin Persner "OMEGA" did seem to be a VERY GREAT member of Ghost. And, I do THINK that Martin may have been shocked about Tobias saying that Ghost was HIS project alone. I say this because Tobias and Martin had HISTORY with 1 another, they had been in a band or 2 together BEFORE Ghost. Subvision and another band, i can only recall the song they had made called "Poonie song" maybe it was not spelled that way, BUT, it was basically a song about a horny guy going out to get laid. ANYHOW, Tobias and Martin had a long history so I can totally see how Martin would have been upset when Tobias had shit all over him. And, IF that song was a "Subvision" song, there was ANOTHER band that Tobias and Martin had been in together before Ghost.

And what sort of moron thinks that they'll be bigger than the mysterious lead singer? You can practice playing guitar or drums all night long, but singing is a full on different talent of its own. The former members took that signature sound with them when they left though. Guitar specifically. Ghost still sounds good. But not the same as many of the original years. These lineups were second to none!
If you talk about live shows, I can understand. But the thing is that Simon (Alpha) and Martin (Omega) only played on one album together (Infestissumam). Opus had Tobias on guitar and Meliora had Henrik doing guitars, with Simon only doing some parts here and there.

"Former" band mates, he hasn't had but like 1 other person who he always works with...Tobias is Ghost period. Touring musicians who didn't write the music get what they were offered and thats it, you're a hired gun thats all you are.
That does suck for the former band members and maybe even up and coming band members to only get paid for their tours or studio work and not a percentage of overall profits and royalties from their work as maybe band members from the Beatles had since they had a face and charisma with each band members. Tobias needs the musician support at all times so hopefully he has a process to helping them succeed after Ghost.
That is how it goes a lot of the time. The guys who write the music get more money. The ones who play, get paid for performing live. There are also payments for performing on albums. In the case of Ghost, there wasn't any profit made for a relatively long time. Therefore, there wasn't money to be distributed. Tobias received royalties as a composer, so he got money. But that was it. And he used those royalties to pay the Ghouls at least something in wages. Ghost was only a tour away from starting to make good money. However, these 4 ex-Ghouls left prior to that tour, even though Tobias had presented them with contracts that would give them pay raises. Comparing to the Beatles is unfair because they were such a different thing to everything else. But even they went through hard times, having little money. Many successful bands go through periods of having to slum it. There isn't a lot of money in the beginning. Now the performance payments in Ghost are different because 1) the 4 guys suing didn't play on Opus. 2) two of the 4 guys suing didn't play on Infestissumam. 3) Only 2 of the 4 guys suing played on Meliora. That doesn't amount to that much.
Well if the other members didn't put anything extra in the band, why did they expect to be equal. This happened to Breaking Benjamin, we're Ben was the one writing all the music and doing pretty much everything. While the band members just showed up to play and then Decided to license music without telling him.
I am fairly new to Ghost but from what I have read and learned about the history of Ghost this all seems to have been the brain child of Tobias. Start to finish. Did any of these guys read their contracts? You're nameless for a reason. You're there to project an image. If the main who created Ghost has written/composed every song and your only contribution is translating sheet music to live playing... you are not part of the entity... just a contributing party on a very low level. You're a paid contractor. So off with their heads. Anyhoo, just my 2 cents, not that is was asked for... I just felt like giving my opinion. Ain't YT comments great?
So this is how I see it...the old Ghouls put heart and soul into making the music because they felt they had something to gain. New ghouls will play the music, but have nothing to share as they are just there to " play the songs as written ". It is sad...for ex ghouls and fans alike. Well, Tobias seems to be a bit of a control freak, or he wants the songs to sound a certain way. Therefore, it has always been the same way - play it as its written. Of course everyone has their own style, but the notes are still the notes. Plus the drums remain the same on albums as long as Ludvig Kennberg keeps doing Ghost albums.

All the stuff that goes along with the Papas & Sister, the whole story is all from Tobias's imagination. How can someone think they can be an equal partner in that?
I don't think we will ever know the entire truth behind all of this. I really find it hard to believe that the former members considered themselves to be equal partners that whole time while clearly never receiving an equal split. Wouldn't they have questioned that much earlier? At the same time, for Tobias to call them hired guns and say that he was the sole creative input just seems ludicrous to me. Omega (Martin) was there from the beginning and his style of playing and his licks are very unique. I hear his uniqueness in the earlier ghost albums, yet Tobias claims none of the earlier members to had any creative input. It just doesn't add up.
Now that we know the real story, Martin Persner wasn’t there from the beginning. But he still helped. His input was valued at the time and he was credited/paid accordingly. That’s why he didn’t sue.
Everyone else had no leg to stand on in this case.
Well done Tobias! You freaking genius, he controls the band and is the mastermind behind it, he can exchange the band mates whenever he wants because they are wearing masks so the audience can’t form an attachment towards them. He’s an artist but also understands the business behind the music. Truly a genius!

Tobias created Opus alone, he created the rest of the albums almost alone, Martin (Omega) did some stuff like the solo for He Is and he didn't even sue. Tobias is Ghost, the Ghouls were just hired to play his songs and got what they deserved, them Rats.

Happy about it? No. The fact any of this happened broke my heart. The band was incredible before the split. His hired guns act just as hired guns would. Not enough presence on stage. In Sweden, lawsuits are not nearly as common as in the US. It's extremely rare that bands sue each other here. I'm not surprised Forge won.

I remember Ghost being comprised of many of his FRIENDS that were in his former bands, so I can't help but think that he did have former friends in Ghost, in the beginning of GHOST. But, I guess he has taken over GHOST, and has hired GHOULS, and really GHOST is a great managerie of musicians, I am thinking he has had many musicians that are in other bands, and they are just taking some time away from their bands and having fun playing in GHOST. I could swear that James Hetfield has played guitar in GHOST on a song or 2. James has admitted to likeing GHOST, and I am sure I had seen him playing for GHOST, I had seen a GHOUL that had James's body and stance playing Guitar, I';m a Metallica fan, so, really, I know it was James Hetfield. When GHOST first formed Tobias had his friends play the instruments, some fans had actually knew the names of the GHOULS, but, NOW, it is GHOULS FOR HIRE. I will admit that I love all the GHOST music I've ever heard, so I love ghost no matter what, but, I would like if they did have a band of some sort, but, really, I guess, I will just have to come to terms with the fact that GHOST will always be a non band, meaning TOBIAS will sing, and each new CD will comprise of TOBIAS, AND a new bunch of musicians.
You are correct in saying that he has had friends on board from the beginning. They've just changed along the way and other players have taken their places. Tobias started things alone. Then his friend Gustav Lindström (ex-Repugnant, Tobias's death metal band) helped him record the demos for Opus Eponymous and ended up playing on the album. The drummer on Opus, Ludvig Kennberg, has continued to play with Ghost, performing on all full length releases, except Infestissumam.
Simon Söderberg helped with recording Opus and then stayed on as Tobias needed live musicians. Then came Martin Persner to be the other guitarist. Things went on from there and the bassists and drummers have changed regularly.
As you might see, Tobias didn't take over Ghost. It was always his creation.

In response to comments below, yes, Tobias is Ghost, main writer etc and I love the band (Prequelle f'n kills).
BUT, none of us know the details of this lawsuit. I myself can't call it a "victory" without the knowing of happenings. All I can say is, I'd be pissed if I wasn't paid.
All of the court documents are translated and available on reddit. The Ghouls were paid what Tobias could afford, often using his own money from music writing royalties to do so. They wanted more and more, which he did give raises when he could. Then the 2016 lineup of Ghouls started blackmailing Tobias with not playing and sabotaging shows. He made a short term deal to finish the tour and fired them afterwards. I would. One person created Ghost, writes the majority of music, handles all business and creative. The others play his songs live and want 5/6ths of the money.

If Tobias, promotes, takes care of deals etc., why would the others get the same amount of money for less work? Sure, you have royalties and that is separate, but sharing profits equally? Martin Persner, for instance, should have earned more that Mauro since he was more involved. Sounds absurd to even suggest such an agreement.
Tobias invested into the band. He gambled a lot. Not like he didn't have anything to lose. I think that is why he has been a bit of a control freak. He has a vision of what Ghost is and he has a lot riding on it all.

Simple answer... they are payed musicians, and the only Nameless Ghoul that had any input that I know of was Omega, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t part of the lawsuit. Not to mention the whole lawsuit was dismissed by the court, what part of that did you not get. Plus the ex nameless ghouls have to pay a good part of Tobias attorneys fees. Sounds like a frivolous lawsuit out of greed to me.

No Martin Persner aka Omega was not in the lawsuit, as he quit the band in 2016. As far as the band not being paid enough, apparently the court thought they did. They lost the lawsuit, and they should have to pay on the grounds it was all a bs.

Or if he left because he declined the contract that was presented at that time. He wasn't happy with it and neither was Tobias (These are Martin's words. Later, new contracts were made up, but by then Martin was gone).

AfaIk, there are no touring member changes so far in 2018, the most ghoul shifting took place in late 2016 and early 2017. The 2018 kick ass along with the ghoulettes and I hope they stay.

While I wouldn't mind seeing Omega back on stage, I do believe Tobias has found some incredible musicians to work with. The wife and I have spent an insane amount of money on tickets for shows this year and are eagerly awaiting the ones coming up late November, early December as well as two coming up in February in Sweden. We can't wait to go back to Sweden. We absolutely love it there. Although, last year when we went, there was a white supremacists rally/march being organized in the soccer field right across the street from our hotel in Gothenburg. It ended up taking us over an hour to get from the train station to our hotel due to the number of streets that were blocked off. Nevertheless, it was nothing short of amazing being there and seeing the last two rituals with Papa III.

In an old interview around Meliora's release he mentioned that Spoksonat was taken from a future song we'll hear titled Rats. So Rats was written years ago around the same time as Meliora. However vocals are the last thing to be recorded and in that 3 year gap between those two albums he had the lawsuit over his head and I'm sure some lyrics reflected that.

I bet Martin Persner is REALLY GLAD he wasn't part of this suit!! The band members could not prove they weren't getting paid properly, but that doesn't mean it wasn't true. Forge should have been more transparent about the books.. and the suing former bandmates should have stuck to the "we didn't get paid" claim and not have tried to claim controlling interest.
Damn, that backfired on them big time. Lol Dunno how they are gonna afford those lawyer fees, they were only making between $800-$1200 a month in Ghost.

I saw them 3 nights Ago in Peoria illinois Nov 2 2018 friday..Cardinal Copia did his best the show was above ..Goin places Cause now its full force ahead and ger back to whats inportant the music..They were all good by there own right.. The Cardinal will take it beyond his showmanship is beyond words he is the part to the fullest ...Its gonna get good now... and the band was powerful then words can say..The sound shook the foundation ppl could not get enough..Ppl drove 10 hours to be there from all places ..Im definitely goin to New york in Dec for there last performance before they go back to Sweeden...hell ya well worth the 24 hour drive... Till the world goes boom ! Cardinal Copia to the fullest...

He started this band with members of the band mcc that he was in at the time so I don't know how to feel about this.
The first album features none of the people from MCC, just two guys helping Tobias out. So it was Tobias's band even in the beginning.

I say this because Tobias and Martin had HISTORY with 1 another, they had been in a band or 2 together BEFORE Ghost. Subvision and another band, i can only recall the song they had made called "Poonie song" maybe it was not spelled that way, BUT, it was basically a song about a horny guy going out to get laid. ANYHOW, Tobias and Martin had a long history so I can totally see how Martin would have been upset when Tobias had shit all over him. And, IF that song was a "Subvision" song, there was ANOTHER band that Tobias and Martin had been in together before Ghost.

The former members took that signature sound with them when they left though. Guitar specifically. Ghost still sounds good. But not the same as many of the original years. These lineups were second to none!
If you talk about live shows, I can understand. But the thing is that Simon (Alpha) and Martin (Omega) only played on one album together (Infestissumam). Opus had Tobias on guitar and Meliora had Henrik doing guitars, with Simon only doing some parts here and there.
If I were Tobias I would never forgive these guys.

They should just start a new Nameless Ghoul band if they believe they were really the driving force behind the band then prove it. Prequelle sounds different but not in a bad way. Seems he did fine without them. But can they do the same?
"Former" band mates, he hasn't had but like 1 other person who he always works with...Tobias is Ghost period. Touring musicians who didn't write the music get what they were offered and thats it, you're a hired gun thats all you are.
That does suck for the former band members and maybe even up and coming band members to only get paid for their tours or studio work and not a percentage of overall profits and royalties from their work as maybe band members from the Beatles had since they had a face and charisma with each band members.
Tobias needs the musician support at all times so hopefully he has a process to helping them succeed after Ghost.
That is how it goes a lot of the time. The guys who write the music get more money. The ones who play, get paid for performing live. There are also payments for performing on albums.
In the case of Ghost, there wasn't any profit made for a relatively long time. Therefore, there wasn't money to be distributed. Tobias received royalties as a composer, so he got money. But that was it. And he used those royalties to pay the Ghouls at least something in wages.
Ghost was only a tour away from starting to make good money. However, these 4 ex-Ghouls left prior to that tour, even though Tobias had presented them with contracts that would give them pay raises.
Comparing to the Beatles is unfair because they were such a different thing to everything else. But even they went through hard times, having little money. Many successful bands go through periods of having to slum it. There isn't a lot of money in the beginning.
Now the performance payments in Ghost are different because 1) the 4 guys suing didn't play on Opus. 2) two of the 4 guys suing didn't play on Infestissumam. 3) Only 2 of the 4 guys suing played on Meliora. That doesn't amount to that much.

This happened to Breaking Benjamin, we're Ben was the one writing all the music and doing pretty much everything. While the band members just showed up to play and then Decided to license music without telling him.

I am fairly new to Ghost but from what I have read and learned about the history of Ghost this all seems to have been the brain child of Tobias. Start to finish.
Did any of these guys read their contracts? You're nameless for a reason. You're there to project an image. If the main who created Ghost has written/composed every song and your only contribution is translating sheet music to live playing... you are not part of the entity... just a contributing party on a very low level.
You're a paid contractor.

So this is how I see it...the old Ghouls put heart and soul into making the music because they felt they had something to gain. New ghouls will play the music, but have nothing to share as they are just there to " play the songs as written ". It is sad...for ex ghouls and fans alike. Yes he won, but did he really?? 5 friends vs money...hummm
Well, Tobias seems to be a bit of a control freak, or he wants the songs to sound a certain way. Therefore, it has always been the same way - play it as its written. Of course everyone has their own style, but the notes are still the notes. Plus the drums remain the same on albums as long as Ludvig Kennberg keeps doing Ghost albums.
@Lord Vader I dont feel that some of them woumd have stayed in the group as long as they did without some understanding...if you are a contract player you know you can leave at anytime but if you think you have a stake in the group you hang in there...

@@aquanina61 Well, the friendship with Simon is over. The 3 other guys suing weren't exactly old friends of Tobias. As for Martin Persner, he and Tobias are still friends, or will at some point be friends again.
@@tallargallarhorn Well, he did start it all by himself. Opus is Tobias. And no one has disputed that. Not any of the ex-Ghouls. Soundwise... live particularly, yes, everyone has their sound.
