The funny thing about The Plutonian from The irredeemable comic is that he's not a traditional Superman ripoff as his powers are not actually solar but in fact he's an immensely powerful psionic. This is why I've always said that the character of Superboy (Connor Kent) is actually one of the most powerful heroes in DC comics because with his Telekinesis he could actually be just as powerful as the Plutonian Who is even more powerful than Superman.
Your wrong corners telekinetic abilities originate from his kryptonian half even in a comic its mentioned superman does have the potential for telekinetic abilities but because superman would rather be human than explore his full potential its practically non existent
Superman is BOTH telekinetic AND solar (or, rather, nuclear). He is far stronger and even KO’d Worldforger (guy who slams his hammer and creates a new multiverse).
Ok but are we talking about Pre - New 52 Connor or the current one because if it's pre - new 52 I understand as his telekinesis or rather his tactile telekinesis is more limited. However if we're talking about current Connor then he is actually not that limited like everyone thinks as this is actually a combination of new 52 superboy with pre - new 52 superboy and his history restore wish make him far more powerful than before after all new 52 superboy was insanely more powerful than pre - new 52 superboy as he actually possessed full on telekinetic abilities not just tactile telekinesis. Honestly I like that now almost all the members of the Superman family except for Supergirl have there own set of powers to differentiate them all. - Superboy Connor has his Telekinetic abilities - Super-Man Kong Kenan has his Kriptonian chi manipulation and Divine Empowerment - Superman Jonathan Kent has his energy manipulation powers like the 90s electric blue Superman - Kara Zor - L Powergirl has her new Telepathic powers - Kara Zor - El Supergirl has the same powers as her cousin but! They should give her something new to. - Otho-Ra and Osul-Ra wouldn't really surprise me if they become the new Nightwing and Flamebird John Henry and Natasha Iron Steel well they are the mechanical engineers of the groop.
Bruh that world had no future. Plutonian is absolutely terrifying. Imagine a world so hopeless that nearly every single hero and villain are in hiding because they are terrified of being caught by Tony. You had Heroes and villains committing suicide in droves rather than being found considering Tony can hear and see everything on the planet. That is a terrifying situation to be in. Zero hope
I went ahead and read the first issue and a half and I got to say that the whole incinerating the baby thing is clearly a message to you the reader that this guy will kill without regard so by the fourth stage or whatever you know or you got a good idea how evil bastard is. Another thing I found very weird was how his ex-girlfriend just blew his cover like that. I feel like that was honestly the most unbelievable thing they had written into the story at that point.

I can't watch any of the mainstream comic channel's. They feel so half assed and are so unfocused and repeat themselves way too much, and oh God the voices. Danny just does this stuff legit

Currently i'm rewatching the Sandman cover, it helped me a lot at the point of their release and i want to visit them again.
The diamonds don’t start as diamonds. I think the series of events is that Plutonian flies to the asteroid belt and gets several asteroids. He hurls them at Singapore and blast them with heat to (in comic book logic) turn them to diamond through heat and pressure, shrinking them but making them much harder. These asteroid/diamond impacts cause deviation, but they are not his plan. He then goes under water and destroys part of the crust under the island, the tsunami happens because of this, but is also not the plan. The plan is that he made a platform hard enough with a big enough surface area that he can push down on the island without just punching a man sized hole through the crust of the earth. Instead he pushed the entire island under water, driving part of the Earth’s crust further into its mantle, drowning the island like Atlantis or Numenor.

I remember reading the entirety of this as it was published and thinking it just got better and better until, without spoilers, I thought the ending just stopped and crapped itself so hard. YMMV, but I’d put the last issues of this up against the last episode of GoT and call it a tie. It left such a bad taste. That said, the part in the middle that ends with “that’s what it feels like” is unquestionably one of my favorite stories of all time.
I just finished my re-read. The beginning few volumes are the best. The back half does this whole alien thing that stalls the story a bit. The ending is really high concept and I’m a little mixed on.

It was issue 4 that REALLY sucked me in. Sure we heard of Sky City, and saw the aftermath. But Singapore really cemented the title to me. The on-panel massacre as he wiped an entire country LITTERALY off the map brings it home that this series will pull no punches, and shows just how far gone and "Irredeemable" The Plutonian really is.

I read irredeemable about a month ago and loved it, i felt it was a bit too long tho and a few arcs could have been shortened but overall i really liked it
Good choice. Very good. A good exploration of the Superman mythos. Really enjoyable and taking many issues of a very bad day to the extreme. Everyone has their limit, just losing control and never coming back.
I'm sorry but a lot of these characters behaviors seem very off, and dumb. The girlfriend, the radio host, and the supervillains with the button? This is literally as if they were premature kids lol
Do "100 Bullets" next. Its extensive and has a lot of volumes in it along with a very intricate and complex storyline. Conspiracy, occult, hidden history, etc. All pretty good stuff.

I honestly enjoyed reading Irredeemable more than The Boys or Invincible. It feels more straightforward and human than the others, and it makes you feel bad for the Plutonian, despite the fact that he’s driven to genocidal madness.

Don’t get me wrong I love Superman, but he’s written to be so immensely flawless as to be unrealistic even for a comic setting. Are we really expected to believe a teenage boy with the ability to use x-ray vision would NOT be abusing it around girls? C’mon, no one’s THAT perfect. Plus he can hear literally EVERYONE but we’re to believe he can just selectively ‘tune’ it out, how exactly? I like how it’s shown realistically in this comic as a background noise that would slowly start fracturing the Plutonian’s psyche, imagine how quickly you’d probably lose your mind if you could hear everyone constantly calling for help all the time. And it also shows the drawback of having nigh omnipotent power: people will come to believe if you’re not also omnipresent it’s by choice. You wouldn’t get a break, ever, because they’d just say ‘you’re superhuman, you’re not supposed to be tired’ & start blaming you for any disaster. Even Superman would get mentally burned out & exhausted by that.

Nice review. This is one of those comics that takes the whole "Superheroes Turns Supervillains" trope very seriously, I like it.

Do "100 Bullets" next. Its extensive and has a lot of volumes in it along with a very intricate and complex storyline. Conspiracy, occult, hidden history, etc. All pretty good stuff.

I honestly enjoyed reading Irredeemable more than The Boys or Invincible. It feels more straightforward and human than the others, and it makes you feel bad for the Plutonian, despite the fact that he’s driven to genocidal madness.
This would be an awesome t v series. This character could match homelander as evil superman

Good thing you don't have superpowers, but then again, I see your point. I would be more like Saitama or Hancock, mind my own business until it involves me, I would be a reluctant and nonchalant superhero, only saving people who deserve it or good people. The wicked and the weak, foolish, Degenerates I'd gladly let die.
Don’t get me wrong I love Superman, but he’s written to be so immensely flawless as to be unrealistic even for a comic setting. Are we really expected to believe a teenage boy with the ability to use x-ray vision would NOT be abusing it around girls? C’mon, no one’s THAT perfect.
Plus he can hear literally EVERYONE but we’re to believe he can just selectively ‘tune’ it out, how exactly? I like how it’s shown realistically in this comic as a background noise that would slowly start fracturing the Plutonian’s psyche, imagine how quickly you’d probably lose your mind if you could hear everyone constantly calling for help all the time.
And it also shows the drawback of having nigh omnipotent power: people will come to believe if you’re not also omnipresent it’s by choice. You wouldn’t get a break, ever, because they’d just say ‘you’re superhuman, you’re not supposed to be tired’ & start blaming you for any disaster.
Even Superman would get mentally burned out & exhausted by that.
