They are both dystopian novels, so they are similar. Just like brave new world, 1984, and so on.

Ummm, that doesn't look like the giver I've read several times. I mean loosely based, but the main character was CHOSEN to be the next giver, he didn't mysteriously find the old one...

What...is...this? This isn't The Giver I know and love. This looks like somebody tried to use a dystopian setting to create a ridiculous looking action movie.
