4th opening : All Might is standing behind Midoriya

To be fair , in trying to capture a certain mood . Creators sub consciously make certain decisions that fit it . Such as color or shading
Honestly sometimes creators do mean to do that kind of stuff. As a person who’s a creator myself, I do drop important imagery in my writing.
Why are the curtains blue?
Sometimes, as your teacher said, it's because the author wanted to signify the depression of the protagonist has been pulled back in this moment, that they see a brief glimmer of hope here.
Sometimes, it's because the author wanted to signify that even in the mundane, like the colour of curtains, we can find something of interest to focus on, something to give us hope.
Sometimes, the author just liked the colour blue.
And unless we ask them, we'll never know.
If you look close, you can see Toru in every Basement video
Krillin Aka Kuririn If you look even closer, you can see that Toru is animated. Swaying from side to side. That is some attention to detail.

I noticed in the part with Uraraka, Yaoyorozu, and Bakugo remembering what they perceive as past failures, Uraraka and Yaoyorozu's memories only take up part of the screen, but Bakugo's take up the whole screen. I wonder if that's supposed to convey how preoccupied Bakugo is with trying to prove himself better than Deku, or maybe if it indicates how strongly they feel about those portrayed memories?

I was wondering when someone was going to do that!!! The first time I heard Geoff say that, I broke down laughing so much, people around me looked at me weirdly. Which i don't mind when I joke picked me up from a rough day.
13:18. I know I’m commenting on a months-old video, but I think you missed something here regarding Ojiro, Yaoyorozu, and Bakugo. I don’t think the shots with the former two are just to “be fair” to them since their partners were already featured in the action scenes, especially with Yaoyorozu. Ojiro’s solo shot appears to just be a nod to their exam where Iida throws him. Yaoyorozu’s seems to have more meaning in that this fight is when she finally comes into her own as a hero and begins to have confidence in herself after her failure in the tournament arc. Todoroki isn’t featured because his presence in the fight isn’t really important, especially since he spends a good portion of it tied up. The fight is all about her learning to have confidence in her own abilities, and though Todoroki is a key part of that journey, it is symbolically more fitting for her to be alone since that fight allows her to become more independent (I mean the whole episode is named after her). As for Bakugo, I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about the fact that Bakugo is alone because he refuses to rely on Midoriya for help with anything, even when their final depends on them working together. Anyway, great video and analysis regardless.

Awesomeness11 Yeah, he went like super Saiyan the just stopped then his eyes rolled into hi head and it was really weird.
I thought it was refreshing that for once a villain wasn't destroyed by a volly of power attacks, but by a medical complication as simple as a broken rib piercing his lungs. And yet even still, he held every hero there spellbound even after he went silent, letting him maintain his power in the series even in the face of a somewhat anticlimactic ending. Besides, he'd already been defeated in a pretty fucking great fight, so he definitely got his chance to shine before he went out.
I thought that was what they believed happened until All Might mentioned that he drank his blood, which meant that Stain, in his condition, couldn't handle One For All.
I just realized that Deku’s punch continues the continuity from the past 2 OP’s. As you said, in the 1st OP, Deku is punching furiously and wildly and in the 2nd OP he punched with focus and determination. In the 3rd OP, he punches with a smile on his face.

Subjectively, The Day just did something to me that none of the other OPs did to me. Those shots of Izuku reaching out to All Might with the epic music of the beginning of the song hyped me up so bad I couldn't help but smiling. It holds a special place in my heart, and those first few lines of this opening, to me, are at almost the same level as Again from FMAB. Almost.

When the title card is yellow, green and blue, the yellow could represent gran torino as an important character and a teacher to deku (the green). This also would mean that, as the frame before had the colour scheme of all might, deku also looks up to gran torino and not just all might.
Well Izuku actually looks up to most heroes, if not, all. All Might is is favorite because of how he also wishes to be the best hero in the world or at least the best hero he can be.
Jishwaa2004 it's also the colour scheme of lumillion(from the latest Manga arc, don't worry I won't spoil) , whose personality is identical to all might. He's praised in a similar way by deku, and especially by other heroes. It could be subliminal messaging that the character is similar in role and weight to all might himself, for when he's introduced in season 4

You could also interpret deku's turn around to Iida, as him becoming aware of Iida pain and suffering. While Shoto was already aware of the look in Iida's eyes from the train station and was planning to look out for him. Hence why Shoto was looking at Iida from the get go while deku had to turn around.

The conection between lyrics and the story is something I love in openings, the most recent example i can think of is the new One Piece OP, "Hope".
I'd really love for you to take a look at it and maybe analyse it if you feel like it. Probably you are not following the One Piece anime and you may not know about what the current arc is about. Even at that I think you could give ir a try with just a summary of this arc in a wiki.

I think my favorite part of the opening is the stare down between Deku and Shigoraki, ever since I realized that Shigoraki true role to be the next All For One, I realized how perfect of a rivalry/nemesis type of relationship that these two will inevitably be, both have a similarities, both being the successors to two powerful people, but are completely different with their goals, personalities, and ideals. And that scene in the opening always gives me chills because I know what there doing and the subtle build up to these two being arch enemies.

The yellow background and green accent are certainly reminiscent of Gran Torino’s yellow cloak and its green clasp, but the blue text doesn’t really work for him..unless it represents the blue lightning of full cowling. That’s unlikely, but it might work.

Hunter X Hunter is widely recognized as one of the best shounen anime/manga ever made, its far from underrated.
MHA is a solid series with massive potentiel but sadly now that it become mainstream it will get undeserved hate and people screaming how overrated it is without any real arguments

Uhm, tokyo ghoul crashed into the ground with the force of a meteor in season 2, that's why it got so much hate.
To be fair, the quality of aot manga nosedives significantly after the end of season 2. Any hate it gets now is probably undeserved, but give it a season or two and yeah it'll be kinda justified

You must do alot of editing from chronologically when you say something, what joke to say and in what tone, and what a scene reminds you of. Nonetheless I get all your references and jokes so keep'em coming. exceedcharge1 After the end credits of the final episode, you see all for one talking about a replacement. It also appear that he is barely alive. Also, he probably figure out how one for all works, and he doesn't want to be beaten by it eventually.
Not really. He can give quirks to People at will, hence how one for all was created, when his brother's quirk combined with the quirk all for one gave to him. Who's to say he can't give all of them to someone?

exceedcharge1 its more of a theory at this point because some do think that "all for one" will give all for one to shigaraki but its unknown if he can pass the entire quirk onto someone else. Because it can pass other quirks onto someone else so why not the quirk that passes quirks its self?
We can also elaborate something based on the knowledge of their blood link. We know that quirks are genetics, so what if the quirk of the younger brother was just a weaker version of his older brother's ? Like "passing his own quirk" is the first step of "taking and passing quirks from one person to another" ? If it's the case, it's very likely that all for one can transfer its quirk to Shigaraki.
Now, that's just a theory, but i think it could be plausible

I love this! I always tell ppl that you can understand what a season or particular arc in an anime will entail based upon the opening. These are usually amazingly detailed, quite packed with symbolism, and go a long way to analyzing characters (if you're dweeb enough to care lol).
I hadnt really thought about these openings deeply before, so it was great to have you unpack it.
I'm not sire if you'll be able to get around to it, but I'd love to see your thoughts on the Ah! My Goddess openings, "Open you mind" and "Colour of happiness" are utterly beautiful

FINALLY! Someone said it. I’ve seen how amazing this opening is for so long and everyone just ignored the great symbolism in it. Opening 3 is fantastic. Amazing video, you captured so much and said it all so well. This series has so much great writing and potential if only you pay attention.
The anime is done so well, and the emotional pull and storytelling brings this theme to a whole new level.

I like the idea of plus ultra being on a wall. The students will have to hurdle over the wall and go 'beyond plus ultra' This is amazing symbolism and continuity.
