The US 38th airborne was in Ukraine in February 2022 , 3000 were sent.
Difference betweeen 2014 and 2022 was that Russia was now fighting the US direct- indiect hybrid. So this is why the feint of Kiev.

You covered a LOT of events in excruciatingly accurate detail that I was absolutely certain mappers would look over or forget about. I am old enough to have remembered getting into politics in early 2015. A lot of these events were fresh on my mind at that time.
still remember the green men in crimea and watch dog groups posting it was russian specop forces and naysayers said no way. crazy that was nearly 10 years ago now.
This is amazing. Every day is exactly the same. I am surprised how the author managed to convey events from my country so accurately.

I would point out that to be fair in terms of geopolitical situation you should put into the side of ukraine at least support from NATO, the US and UK at least

Small thing but I really like how the music and sound syncs to the action. The tone drop as Russia invades at the 5:50 mark put a lump in my throat.
This is very similar (same music) to CherepashkaShusha's Chechnya war video. Either way it's a pretty cool addition.

Hello! I have a suggestion for the next edition of this video. Please put the box of Kyiv to the bottom left, roughly to Transylvania, this way you don't have to cover up the Ukraine-Belarus border, which is a bit annoying. Other than that, really great work and very interesting map timelapse.

This Map is really well design i have a suggestion of maybe updating it to make it more slower and put points on key event of each date like the sinking of Moskva and Losing of Kherson and Mobilization, just some key events and points.

@@stephmod7434 Nah, literally the ONLY oblast center size russian gain since 2014. Anything else are parts of other oblasts where capital didn't change hands.
@@KasumiRINA Yes, it was a smart decision. In the Kherson direction, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation had difficulties with supplies. The only bridge (Antonovsky) was under constant bombing by the AFU and was damaged more than once. One day he would just be destroyed. And what in this case should the Russian group do locked up on the left bank of the Kherson region? If they were attacked, they would all be killed or taken hostage (50/50, we are all well aware of how "well" Russian prisoners of war are treated in Ukraine). Leaving Kherson without a fight is the best solution (for the military, but not for people, because filtration measures are already being carried out there during which everyone who helped the Russian Federation is being killed. Life in the city has clearly deteriorated.) Moreover, this allowed us to move to safer positions, gain a foothold there and regroup.

it's worth mentioning that just before Yanukovych cowardice to Crimea, he was expected in Kharkiv by his supporters. It's said by some sources that if he actually had driven towards Kharkiv, it would have lead to full-stage civil war (like declaring a rival government).
By the way - i feel you. Since start of all this shit i've hyperfocused on that topic and i truly appreciate your work - it clearly explains all details of those complex events. GJ!
Its somewhat true, he could hire those separatists that were prepared for donbass scenario and attempt to retake government, but after he ran away he admitted in interview that this was all possible , after all he picked citizens lives over political rivalry which was most adequate thing he has ever done . On the other hand Moscow hated him because he was about to be second Lukashenko and be president for eternity by rewriting constitution and be a small pawn or obstacle to overcome , ( he would still cede Crimea though)

5:23 WTF? NATO didn't have ANY military exercise on Ukraine in 2021! The 16/3/2021 exercise (Defender-Europe 21) was in Estonia, Bulgaria and Romania! Ukraine was indeed participating, but the exercise wasn't on it's land.

I am a resident and one of the defenders of Vyshgorod (to the north of Kyiv in the very south of the Kyiv Sea near the hydroelectric power station) Parallel Mezhgorye - Lyutezhsky bridgehead was under the control of the defense forces of the Vyshgorod region, also the enemy could not break through Lebedevka and tried to take the hydroelectric power station in small groups from the east
One thing this video missed was that US troops were present in Ukraine as far back as 2014.
Paul Kim was part of the 82nd and around Feburary 4th 2022, US had deployed 3000 troops with him there. So this was not just Ukraine vs Russia , it was indeed US, Ukraine, UK vs Russia.

@@HoneyMad_History NATO countries like... Japan and Australia? The latter gave Ukraine tons of weapons. It's not in NATO. Also, then you'd have to add Iran and North Korea as they arm russia. It's also pointless since both don't patricipate directly or control territory. Belarus is the only third country with direct participation as it has russian bases from which they staged attacks and done airstrikes and bombings on Ukraine.
The level of detail in this is outstanding amazing job considering that all of this open sourced!

@@BlueXey Well i see that the confrontation stall now.Estimating short i can say that on the side of Russia there's huge territory and big amount of people to sacrifice with on the side of Ukrane there's motivation of defence and support from the west.Maybe russians will freeze at winter but it seems that winters are short in Ukrane,or maybe even it's not a winter but a fall that turns to spring at some moment.Some people say that Russia might put pressure on Europe & Ukrane.Russian economy is way weaker than german one for example but maybe Russia will realy drive EU & Ukrane nuts without gas & electricity at winter,but once again is it a real winter?Once i watched a video about ww1 and the author said that by 1917 the question was who will break first.Maybe this conflict will last for years and all the sides will hate their govenment and commit mass riots.Russian mass media's trying to compare this conflict to World War 2/The great patriotic war and says that we are fighting to nazis but IMO this conflict is more similar to WW1:the war itself is useless but the victory is vital for both sides.Some livers of russia remembers the glorious victory in WW2/GPW but i guess that they should remember the drama of WW1 when Russia lost to lost coalition and been fucked.They better think not of how glorious were our ancestors but what might happen if Russia will lose.Interesting things will happen if the conflict will drag on untill 2024:there must be president elections in Russia,Ukrane and USA in that year,well the elections might happen elsewhere in 2024 but that's not so meaningful.Guess that Russia & Ukrane might cancel the elections if the conflict will still go on by that time.

@@BlueXey Well talking about "Russian government has already begun to reveal cracks" i don't feel that.When this shit has just begun i were indignand that Putin begun that shit with all this sanctions i seemed that now we are doomed and we gonna stand with no economy soon i seemed that in Russia there will be same things that were in Germany in 1920s or in Zimbabwe in 2000s.But it didn't happen yet,the goods weren't fading in the shops the growth of USD & Euro stoped soon and at some moment they came even cheaper than before february 24.Well,some brands have disappeared but we are not starving.Saying personaly about me i am making bords in the woodshop.Everything was same as usual there at spring but in june our director established gathering of the woodshop and the sawmill,he said that due to the ongoing events we stand with no sales market.The manufacture's going to sell the bords to China,India & Serbia.Meanwhile we got the other job within the organization:we were planting trees and making concrete.Actualy i couldn't think that our organization's planting trees.We've reoriented the sales market and begun to make bords in august again.There are some technical problems now but the organizaton is still alive.Life's still going on,i pay for food and the living place and have enough.I'm from Karelo-Finnish SSR,not the most successful region but not the worst either.Russian economy's weaker than economies of countries like Germany,France,USA etc,but aforesaid things made me understand that we can survive.Yeah Russia might break at some moment but guess that it's early to talk about that.Since you're latvian you say that you might be biased,i am russian but i am trying to see everything as it is.Ukranie doesn't seems to make huge strategic pushes.Well the offensive near Kharkov in september looked impressive but practice shows that no one can advance forever and ukranian offensive stall by october,i have 3 hypotheses why did it happen:
1.They kept lots of their forces at the prewar border so Russia wouldn't stab their back.
2.They sacrificed with lots of people for such offensive so they have no forces to go further.
3.They faced some natural barrier that doesn't let them go further.
I wouldn't be so sure that everything will end so easy.What's important in any war is peole.They are those who fight at the frontline,if there's no people there's no one to fight at the front.Russia has more people,if it will just sacrifice with people then it will run of them soon enough and loose,if they will act resonable Ukraine is more likely to loose all it's people.Maybe it's hard to determine the outcome accurate but i can say that it will end either with so so outcome or with the fuck up.

Как житель Херсона могу подтвердить,что карта вполне действительна,но не пойму почему после псевдо-референдумов нас приписали к рфии. Никто вроде не сомневался в нелегитимности референдума,так а почему здесь его привели в исполнение?
Мне кажется просто чтобы показать, вряд-ли автор согласен с этим и многие адекватные люди.
а вообще вот такой вопрос , насколько много в херсоне тех кто поддержало якобы вхождение територий , знаю что референдум полная дичь для телевизора, но колаборантов ведь везде хватает
