  • How to spend a day in St. Joseph, Michigan? Located in the southwest corner of Michigan, St. Joseph has a lot to offer for people coming from Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Chicago. The city has a downtown full of shops and restaurants, a historic carousel with memories going back to when St. Joseph once had an amusement park, a sandy beach with two lighthouses at the end of the St. Joseph River as it empties out into Lake Michigan, historic homes overlooking the bluff, and very famous pizza from Silver Beach Pizza. Very special thanks to my good friend ‪@DiscoverWithDima‬ for meeting up and checking out some cool things to see and do around St. Joseph!

    I am in St.Joe right now, going back home to Indiana this morning. Watched the fireworks last night off the bluff. Over the years a lot has changed here. I know, at 72 years old I have been coming here since I was a kid. My greatgrandfathers farm was on John Beers Rd. My great aunt lived on Church st. Over the years Chicago tourists would head to New Buffalo, as years have gone by they have found South Haven to go to. But in recent years people have found St. Joe to be a great getaway. Met people from Arizona last nite, and noticed a lot of far away state licence plates.

      Thanks for sharing! It's amazing how many people from all over are checking out the area now and that it is not just people from Chicago or from other areas of Michigan.

    Beautiful little town. Love the touch of jazz you've added as background. I'm gonna have to head there sometime to get some of that pizza!

    I worked in downtown St Joseph at Nuechterlein camera, now longer there. I have not been back in almost 30 years. I was there when they had the Venetian festival. I wish I would have enjoyed my time there better. Nice people to work for and I enjoyed the downtown area and lake. Over in Benton Harbor there was an interesting amusement park called the House of David amusement park, which also had a baseball team.

      @@scottman895 Another neat area you may want to explore is Saugatuck Douglas area near Grand Rapids. Many from the Chicago area enjoy visiting. There's lot to do and it has a cool vibe. In the Same area I would stop by Holland, Michigan, visit the Dutch Village and the outlet malls. In Saugatuck make sure to take the paddleboat cruise with the Star of Saugatuck! Happy trails.

    🚀🚀I remember in the late 60's when I was a test tester for NASA space food made by Whirlpool at their old Silver Beach facility. All I can say is they make much better appliances than food.🚀🚀

      How harsh are the winters there? I read not bad but is that true?

    • @StephonDWatson
      @StephonDWatson 2 місяці тому +1

      @jessli369 Well, it can get harsh when we get lake effect snow, which can develop with the winds from Lake Michigan and then get inland. Depending on where the lake effect the snow band goes with the direction of the wind, it could lead to a lot of now, maybe a foot or more.
