:) great video. I def know what you mean by the other groups. have had damage done to my rigs do to the trail just turning really bad and hard for what I was in. few times ended up getting towed home with flat tires or broken axles. currently have a 02 Forester that I am fixing up for my daily/ trail rig had to retire my Legacy wagon do to it actually getting hit on a trail by another driver.

See that's exactly what I'm talking about and the leaders of the ride allowing that to happen to your ride is completely unacceptable.

Loved this video! My wife is getting a '24 Crosstrek Wilderness and she would love to do some beginner offroading. Could you share the trails you were on? Thank you!

I'm a member of the Subaru Facebook group, which is what led me to your channel. I don't currently have a Subaru, but my wife is on her third. I'm looking at trying to get one in the not too distant future, so I may see you on the trail with them. There should be room for all skill levels, build levels and money levels in the hobby, but as you've observed and explained so well, often there is not in some minds.

Great, thanks so much for stopping by to comment. Hopefully as the "sport" grows and more new people get stock vehicles there will be more patience for us newbies! Maybe in the meantime the wife will let you "borrow" the Subaru to come out with us one day??

I think I know what group you are referring to. I am in a few also but cant bring myself to go on a stock ride when I see alot of brand new jeeps getting fenders ripped off and smashing parts. I want to do some light off roading but more into the overlanding traveling and camping side of things. without destroying my rig. and I do run 35s and a lift.lol

Yeah I didn't want to call out the specific group because I want to stay on good terms with everyone but I went looking for the photo of the guy who flipped his orange truck on his 1st beginner ride to use as B-Roll while I'm talking and I couldn't find it because I think I got booted from the group for asking if people wanted to chip in to get a bulldozer to even out some tough areas on the roads to make it more suitable for all people to ride the roads in Vinton County lol.

But to also address the broken parts etc. on beginners rides, it's sadly something I see a lot here in Ohio. However some of the group rides in Kentucky seem to be reasonable and I'm looking forward to riding with them because they do have specific rides depending on tire sizes, lifts, and winches!

I would love to have the trails you were road, but I can’t seem to locate the link. Would you be willing to share this? It definitely looks like my kind of “off roading” and the photographer in me is itching to take my camera!!!

I take my ZR2 on Jeep/Toyota camping trips all the time and even have Subaru people tag along. Just remember this, that Subaru isn't going to give you the space you need for things other than camping.

Sounds like you have a lot of fun out there with other types of vehicles! Believe it or not, the Jeep Cherokee XJ is smaller (inside room) than the Subaru!
