Brilliant, I remember this song in my very early teens, Bill has a great sense of humour and doesn’t take himself too seriously. A rare commodity in the music business!
Serial womanisers and men who prey on underage 13 year young girls - don’t usually take themselves seriously at all - even more so when you throw power, fame and expensive lawyers into the mix.
"She was a disco dancer..." => FM radio edit to replace the line "Said she smoked marijuana." Well played, Bill. This song has made me smile for so many years. Thank you for everything.
Ole Bill has the best solo works out of all of the Rolling Stones solo projects in my opinion. Non commercial songs that are a lot of fun with a sense of humor.
Great Bill Wyman 🌟 Good, fantastic musician 🎸 and songwriter 👍 So serious and intelligente 💯 His song Je Suis Une Rockstar like it so much 👍 Thanks for sharing ✌️👌🤗👋👋
I thought of this song today . I had not seen this video since the early days of MTV but I still remembered it all these years later . Thanks for posting this lost video
That's cuz he took a chance met a girl and went to France, I wonder how this song would've gone if he'd went to Spain instead lol, There needs to be another version 2
God bless Bill Wyman. This track, "Monkey Grip Glue", "Seventeen", "Apache Woman", "November", etc. all cheer me up a million times more than any antidepressant I've ever taken...and the effect is immediate.
Knowing him Kath I am sure he would have given it his best shot & in his 9wn inimitable style! The Blockheads were more than talented enough to play the music! Early 1990's I enjoyed Ian Duty & The Blockheads at the Brixton Academy & what an amazing performance that was & the raw energy was powerfull but not distorted! Ian had to be helped to walk onto the stage by one of his roadies or other crew because of his disabilities & he had his cane/walking stick in one hand & a plastic carrier bag from a SPAR shop in the other hand filled with his food & drink & my younger brother thought it was all part of making his stage entrance act which it wasn't of course! Despite having polio Ian was very energetic as were The Blockheads that night & he performed just about all of The New Boots & Panties album as well as other material & was also joined on stage by Wilko Johnson who played his guitar & strutted his stuff on many of the songs like a wildman! If Elvis Costello had have been there that night with his Attractions (another one of my favourite artists & bands & also on STIFF records along with Ian & The Blockheads as well as Madness & other bands) he & his Attractions would have got blown off the stage again! The whole concert was filmed by a TV film crew & later shown on Channel-4 & I recorded it on VHS & got a really good clean recording too! After the concert me & my brother waited outside with our ears still ringing from the very loud concert in the pouring rain for nearly 2 hours at the backdoor stage entrance for the great man & his band to appear & get his & The Blockheads autographs but they sneakily got away seemingly unnoticed via another exit! I think Hit Me With Your Rthymn Stick was the first single I bought when it was first unleashed closely followed by his first album New Boots & Panties or the first singles I bought back in the late 1970's to 1980 could also have been Gary Human & Tubeway Army with Are Friends Electricic? or it could have been John Foxx with his first single as a solo artist Underpass followed by his first solo album since leaving Ultravox! which was the Metamatic album & what a groundbreaking album that was for its time & it still sounds alien & dystopian now in 2020!
@@andrewhillis2269 I really liked Ians song for 'The secret diary of Adrian Mole', for all his amazing manic energy, he's quite restrained & tender on that track.

Didn't know he was a solo artist until I seen the documentary on him last weekend in which this song was featured. I know, I keep asking myself the same question, "what rock have I been living under?" Listening to this and a few of his other songs, almost makes you forget he's a member of the Rolling Stones.
This song cracks me up. I was crying all day yesterday due to Lockdown. Today I'm laughing again, this song has helped. Love the line 'they'll think i'm your Dad, and your my Daughter' 😂
I kinda know how you feel. I'm stuck in Melbourne still in lockdown mid Oct 2020 and it's shit. At least I'm now back with my kids at school and some normality is returning. I'm so glad there is music like this that is upbeat, happy and cheeky that makes me smile through the crap.
Incredible song (...on which the also great "Si Si" piece, of the 1981 movie "Green Ice" OST, was based) by the great Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones! Well done Bill! Well done!
I remember seeing this for the first time on MTV...Bill all cool as fuck dans la south of France. Singing about a hot Brazilian babe with his charming British accent after the Stones legendary 82 tour!❤ A true Bon Vivant...more subtle than Jagger but fucking OG none the less. Pure fucking Gold!!
This song shows perfectly well who was the real genius behind The Rolling Stones. Who needs a Mick or a Keith if you can pull off a treasure like this on your own?
this song has a very happy "let's have a day at the seaside" feel to it, much like Barry Gibb's "Shine Shine".NOT the beaches of LA or Florida mind you, more the knotted hankies and deck chairs of Scarborough or "Sarfend". And what's wrong with THAT?. I have always smiled to myself at the lyrics "They'll think i'm your dad, and your my daughter" and it's really good to see that HE too smirks with embarrassment @ 2:20 when he mimes them.

It's crazy to me that a member of the Rolling Stones tried to write a song for Ian Dury. This song is totally written in his voice, but I understand why he turned it down. Dury would not be a "Rockstar" like Bill Wyman could have been considered at the time. Dury has always been underground and punk, it makes more sense for Wyman to sing it, but I would have loved to hear Dury's take!
I think he's so sweet in this video. he's so cute. I'd love to go walking in the park with him or... take a trip to his bedroom. that escalated quickly. whoops
Bill Wyman nailed his sound with this tune, and one more time showing his skills apart from the bass. Very different from what Jagger and Richards did at that time.
