    I worked at a bowling alley for 6 years. Just recently resigned because of better opportunity but didn’t work out. I was the head mechanic for 3 of those years. We had the same GSX machines and I know them like the back of my hand. This is the first time I’ve ever seen a pair installed anywhere. None of us mechanics got a proper training except when I trained people, I trained them how we should have been trained, every detail, pictures of part blow outs, machine blow outs, belts, every little thing just to make sure my employees knew everything I knew. And so they didn’t get hurt or anything, that is the very very very last thing I wanted. I don’t boast about myself or talk about myself in any way usually but I will say I was the best damn employee in that building, and mechanic. Building maintenance, I will say some of those machines problems were such a pain in the ass but I would rather work on these instead of the 8200’s machines.

    I visited their website to check my hunch about the pin-setting machine, it requires 3 phase electric power . Which is common for commercial installations like a bowling alley, however very seldom in a residential home. Thus a solid state phase converter is installed, for additional "hot conductor" Some homes do have 3 phase in areas with larger commercial A/C units or farms where a lot of motors are used.

    • @ghost307
      @ghost307 4 місяці тому

      You can have a phase converter installed (they make both solid state and rotary versions) but you may need to hire an electrician that does Industrial work, so he knows exactly what he's doing.
      Alternately you could replace the 3 phase motors with single phase.

Seriously though, if that's a real family, and that is how they play, they'll get bored of bowling in a week and then hardly ever use the lanes again. If I had all the money in the world, I wouldn't install lanes at my home - kind of lame, kind of sad. I always like going out to bowl.

    It would be great to have a pair of lanes in my house. I'd probably go more retro than average, though... above-ground ball returns, 3-10 wood, perhaps Brunswick A-2s running at 'A' speed, oil the lanes myself using lane towels or bug sprayer(!), etc.

    • @wecontrolthevideo
      @wecontrolthevideo 4 роки тому +2

      I would love to have the A-2’s with the pin elevators bonging away, and use Astroline masking units with the white star shield lights. I would probably still go synthetic lanes, for less maintenance, and Cosmic Bowling capability.

    • @NipkowDisk

      I would also go with synthetic lanes for the reason you state- definitely less maintenance. Cosmic bowling would be cool, too... and maybe old-fashioned moonlite bowling with glow-in-the-dark pins. As for masking units- Astroline would be very nice, although I might opt for the Gold Crown dual-lane ones depending on the decor I chose.

    • @johnseal56
      @johnseal56 3 роки тому +1

      Last I heard it was about 100k for a pair of lanes. And would need approximately 100ft. That's with walking space in front of and behind the approach and machine. Then you would also need to get an oiler which is usually around 15k- 30k depending on what you get.
