You have 2 outlets on the brass fitting. What is the second one for? How is the brass fitting connected to the wood? What is holding it it the hole in the wood?
The hose fitting is just friction fit into a hole in the wood. I added the Y adapter simply to provide a quick shutoff valve and an angled swivel. The second side of the Y serves no purpose.

Please explain the jig that connects to the top of the strainer
Sure it’s a temporary hose connection we made for the top of the strainer - we made it to size for our boat out of some wood.
