    Hey Malcolm, completely off topic, but were you potentially thinking of making a video on what we can do over summer to have a better physical/strength/mobility base for snowboarding for next season? Like a week by week training plan? (With or without a snowboard)

    • @aboutparkourtraining
      @aboutparkourtraining Рік тому +2

      Off-season, as with any sport, is a great time for improving general fitness. Snowboarders benefit a shit ton from strength training and balance training. I guess balance board is great for that as @Maddin mentioned, but also riding any other board like skateboard, wakeboard, etc. is a great way to practice some more specific balance and coordination. In regards to strength, I think it depends a lot on riding style, but since, I guess, not many people will hit big jumps in parks your specific training would be leaning more towards muscular endurance and isometrics (static contractions, like holds in 1 legged half squat for example), and the general would include just regular lower body training with the aim of improving max strength.
      I just said the first thing that came to my mind as a sport scientist but there are probably other people that are specialized in snowboarding training who can give much better advice...

    Great Malcolm! I'm confused at many responses saying not a snowboard run, and I wouldn't do that run? I feel you should practice all runs, that is the mark of a good rider. Not that they can only scream down a groomed run, but are able to "comfortably, safely" at their own place, complete any run. When I take a lesson, I ask to do moguls and trees and powder if we can, bc when I lose my way on the slopes, and end up somewhere unintended or just a change in piste characteristics, I have practiced those skills and I'm not nervous. My legs burn crazy and I have to rest, but I personally enjoy the challenge. I understand it's not for everyone, but I think everyone should give it a go.

      Snowboarders create moguls too … it’s natural from turning and pushing snow in any form. A snow bike would create moguls with enough laps. The moguls will be different spacing due to differences in turn shape between the forms of snow sliding. These moguls are fairly small and spaced out compared to more popular Colorado/California resorts though that get way more traffic.

    • @Not2BadEH
      @Not2BadEH Рік тому +1

      没什么攀比心的话或者为了当教练,考casi更多的是为自己纠正滑行姿势,提倡高效的滑行姿态,比较标志性的就是胳膊带着压肩,这样下半身能有足够的旋转空间去引导雪板,还有小回转时候的前后重心转移的换刃,我个人认为学一学基础的就好对自己很有帮助,但不必太追求标准化,不然就失去了滑单板的初衷

      To clarify, I really enjoy challenging Uber steep blacks as they require great technical riding to ride properly. You could argue this is the same, but they’re just very repetitive. Ride one mogul, you’ve ridden them all.
      (I also wouldn’t do the same black more than once, I’d get back to the reds and cruisy blues to get back to having fun)

      Mogul riding is the best riding to get you in great shape. Force yourself to do a run like this switch and you will see a massive improvement in your switch riding, all over the mountain. I start off every season lapping moguls to get back into shape. No tired legs on powder days

      @@erniemckracken6530 Fair enough bud. I can see the merit in that. I live in the UK where my local resort consists of an indoor fridge, so don’t have the luxury of too many days warm in up! Need to get straight into the fun bit for the limited time I have on snow each year.

    I'll admit that I haven't skied in a while, snowboarding was just becoming a thing, but that run looks easy compared to some of the runs I skied down at Winter Park/Mary Jane. Yes, I could see that moguls were starting to form, but I was used to ones that were knee high and would separate you from your ski if you hit it wrong.

    Probably is warranted. If you stack it it's going to be a very bumpy and painful slide down to the bottom 😀It's a shame that video just never really captures just how steep those slopes are. I'm guessing it's at least 2 or 3 times steeper than it looks?

    Also to everyone talking about moguls I'm confused, I didn't see any, this is basically windpack snow, kinda like Mammoth mountain. This is what moguls means to me

    If you want a real challenge in some real bumps, not Hero Bumps, come to Winter Park, CO. When there, get yourself over to Hole in the Wall and hope the gate is closed, unless you're one of the first to get to there after patrol opens it up and there is still pow on it. The only bummer about Hole in the Wall is that it's too short

    • @jacobiwolf77
      @jacobiwolf77 Рік тому

      @@malcolmmoore nope, my Hole in the Wall is a 65°-70° slope. If you're standing upright on your toeside, you can reach your arm staight out at 90° and touch the ground. Then half way down you have to decide what side of the rock to go around, most people go left because it gives you about 10 ft of room whereas the right side about 5 ft but generally has better snow because it's not getting skied off. Or, if you're first tracks you can drop the rock but that can be 40+ of unexpected air if you're going too fast
