- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island...
This song has stuck with me for a long time, and is one of my favorites. Yoshi's Island was the first ever video game I had, and this being the intro song to the game, the very first video game song I ever listened to.
This was my grandfather's favorite game and he sadly passed away today Rest in Peace I'll always remember the good times
Sorry for your loss but don't worry your grandpa is watching over you from heaven and is saying what a wonderful and great grandson I was with growing up all of these years on this planet

For me it’s 0:10 , tears flowing
Its just one of those nights right now
Indeed it is. We all share our longing for our innocence and childhood. Hold on to your memories ❤️
Tears... an endless sea made of waterfalls... It is something... Something between sadness and happiness.
Maybe because of memories. Memories of more innocent times. I haven't even played this game. I only watched one or two LPs if anything. However... This song has some kind of beauty in it. I have a great weakness for innocent things like these. And this is maybe one of the best soundtracks ever made in the history of gaming. It touches something deep down in the heart and can bring everyone to tears. It's freeing. I find myself replaying it over and over again lately. And even the song itself wants it... When the music box get's recharged in the middle of the song. Just to play a little bit longer... And then we still have to restart the video to hear the full song again. But it fades out eventually. And just like the song and the memories - It is a part of the past. We have to put it aside at some point. Not forever. We can always return to these memories. Only spiritual. Not physically. Not permanent. But never forget... Those beautiful memories are a part of your life. And even if you find yourself thinking and crying about them... Thinking that it will never be that beautiful again. That thought is wrong. Nobody can take these memories from you. And nobody can stop you from making new wonderful memories. And if you have a child and play a music box for it. You just started to give the little one one of his/her first of those beautiful memories. You're never alone. Never forget this. Never forget the beauty of life. Put aside all negativity for a moment. And replay the song. Just one more time. As much as you want. As much as you need to. Let all emotions coming. It's okay. It's not a bad thing to cry. It's nessecary to get freedom. Once you did feel hugged. And then replay it one more time. And then let go. You can always come back. After all these memories are a part of yours.
Try to be a kid again in your mind while listening to this. And then move on. Never forget the good times. Be glad if the bad times are over and let them go. And if you are in bad times move on as well. There will be good times again. There will also be bad times in future of course. That is inevitable. It's a part of life. That is what makes us human. If this song is one of the things that make you feel strong don't be ashamed. Embrace it. And use it to move on.

One of my favourite things about this music box-centric theme that becomes leagues better than all the other music box-centric compositions out there is actually including sounds of the music box actually working and churning, as well as the music actually slowing down and having to be re-wound up. It actually makes it feel extremely authentic despite being an digital emulation of the real deal, and something I really wish more soundtracks with music boxes would actually incorporate
Everytime I listen to this, I start crying, I really loved this game, it was my entire childhood :'(

A long, long time ago...
This is a story about baby Mario and Yoshi.
A stork hurries across the dusky, pre-dawn sky.
In his bill, he supports a pair of twins.
Suddenly, a shadow appears in a gap between the clouds and races towards the stork with blinding speed.
SCRREEEECH!
“THE BABIES ARE MINE!”
“ WOW!!!”
Snatching only one baby, the creature vanishes into the darkness from whence it came.
The second baby falls undetected towards the open sea...
OH NO…
Meanwhile, here is Yoshi's Island, home to all Yoshies. It's a lovely day, and Yoshi is taking a walk.
HUH?!?
Suddenly, a baby drops in onto his back.
The baby seems to be fine. This is very fortunate!
Wha-? Something else fell with the baby...
Let's take a peek...
It looks like a map. Maybe the stork was using it?
But Yoshi can't figure it out.
Yoshi decides to talk to his friends.
AAAAAAAAAAKK!!!
Kamek, the evil Magikoopa, and kidnapper of the baby, quickly dispatches his toadies, when he discovers that he missed the other baby!
Yoshi heads leisurely back to the other Yoshis, unaware of the danger at hand.
Kamek's forces are actively searching the island.
Will these two children ever reach their
parents safely?
bro typed the whole story
I have to tell a story....this is my most old childhood i can still remember...i'm born in 1992 and didn't even own an SNES, I got an N64 near my school beginning therefore. But a friend of my mom owned one! So i played with maybe... 5 or 6 years old this game on their SNES with her doughter 3 years older than me...someday they weren't friends anymore...that was maybe 2000-2001.... of course they got the SNES back...but i secretly retained that cartridge back then...without the console it was useless...but I wanted to keep the memories.
A few months ago my mom telled me from another friend, they still have one and want to throw it away...I couldn't accept it! D: So I said them I would take it or buy it. Whatever it takes.
Now I got it...and try to load that old cartridge which i protected over 17 years...at first it didn't want to start...and I nearly gave up...
But then finally it worked! :3
When this music starts playing I just exploded literally... >_> But I'm proud of it! o.O
I just was 6 years old again...
Cool story. Gave me good vibes reading it. Thanks for sharing. Glad you got to relive your childhood. I still feel the same way about, "Illusion of Gaia," for SNES. I'M a kid again when I come in contact with anything from the game.
LordKai1102 hey, I remember watching your Metroid Fusion LP a couple of years ago.
I confess something .
One time when i was 10 i put this to myself for sleep and it work very well
I love that the music box slows down and eventually has to be re-wound. Continuing the cycle!
This game was, has and always will be my childhood. Hearing this paticular song from this game just brings me back to the simpler times when the only worry in my mind was what was the next boss gunna be. I hate growing up
childhood, where have you gone?
everyones being emotional saying about childhood but no one is actually appreciating how much of a masterpiece this is honestly.
This song gives me goose bumbs
I totally agree. The feeling you have when hearing this song, so beautiful and kinda sad at the same time. I hope that the next generations understand that thanks to these games, they have their modern videogames.
My little cousin has 7 years old and he always plays Snes in my laptop, I'm glad that he understands that playing a game like this is not just to play. But to feel inside of such a beautiful story.
0:10 Could be a intro for a movie for a baby born in the Russian Federation on December 26th 1991.
The real beginning of a legend... well, two legends: Mario and Yoshi.
Yoshis Island was my childhood uwu the emotions in this OST 💖
Am I the only one who thinks that the music slowing to a halt, then the music box being audibly wound back up, then the music continuing like normal, is a clever audio gag?
I have never played this game before but this hits me in my feels. I played the majority of Mario games and even though I never played this one, it reminds me of good times when I was a kid with my mario plushes, games, and bedsheets :)

Im officially sad now... when I searched this music I found it but used wrong keywords Im Now stuff like a brony and a sonic teen fan But Where did Mario go? ;( Ill tell you I had a Mario plush toy that I slept with every night and I told him we would always be friends and id play all your games! ;) I loved him and I told him But now im all grown up 17years old done forgetting About Mario... Liking other things and I bet Mario often called for me! And it did Its asking me to play once more.... But then the games grew old and new and too complicated to play. I am crying right now. Thumbs up if you think I should go back to Mario! :)
Go for it. If ya need somethin' im here.
Same here, pretty actually the exact same, I became a brony and became obsessed with xbox and ps games. But because of smash 4 i'm totally back into nintendo. I thought their games were made only for kids like a year ago (funny because I was a brony and an avatard, liked some kids shows) but now I realize that nintendo makes simple, less open games. However, these games are usually masterfully made and I will still like xbox, ps, and pc games, I LOVE nintendo more than ever because of the nostalgia (especially in music like this) and memories of being a kid (well i'm a mid-teen so i guess that doesnt really apply but still I played old nintendo games) This last year and next year I feel like nintendo is realizing their place as a unique, nostalgic company and they are no longer trying to compete with other companies with violent dark games. I cannot wait for more games like starfox and Zelda in 2015!
