  • THIS is the EASIEST Way in After Effects to create Projection Mapping like Zach King.
    Camera Mapping is a technique that you can accomplish easily in a 3D software like Cinema 4D or Blender.
    But it can be challenging in After Effects. Usual techniques are quite convoluted and require precomposition or 3D lights as simulated projectors.
    In this After Effects tutorial I'll show you that Projection Mapping can be achieved quite straightforward.

    I'm not that far into After Effects and it would really help if you could explain, why you do each step.Understanding the reasoning behind an action makes it so much easier to learn and remeber the steps. Just an idea for future tutorials. Thanks for sharing this method

    Awesome tutorial. Thanks, Michael. I was actually so curious to know this technique around 3 months ago that I made a reddit account, posted a video, and asked how they made it, as well as in other VFX communities. I thought they were made using the data-mosh technique or some 3D software. Thanks for explaining this in the easiest and most understandable way. I really like that you have shown what different footage and scenario would look like using this technique. You are awesome.😄

      @@MichaelPonch My idea is, two shots, one is that I normally put down my coffee cup. The second is a blank shot, with the same motion trajectory. Then cut the cup out at after effect. The problem is, the lens is moving, not stationary. How to deal with shadows? It would be even better if you had a video. Thank you.

    The Power Pin won't allow the correct placement of the ground surface, but when I try the unstretch trick it doesn't work - the layer just disappears from the frame. Any other ways to get around this issue?

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  5 місяців тому

      Hi! Difficult to say without seeing your project. I guess it’s an extreme camera perspective that makes it difficult. Maybe use the other Power Pin technique of the two.

    • @JakobDinesendk
      @JakobDinesendk 5 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for answering quick @@MichaelPonch The issue is that the vertical tracking plate works like a charm, but the horizontal doesn't. This is how much I'm allowed to tweak the power pin. What is the other technique? If only I could push it further up, but this is max: jakobdinesen.dk/images/silkemur-problem.jpg

    • @MichaelPonch
      @MichaelPonch  5 місяців тому +1

      In my tutorial I use different Power techniques for the skateboard and the car. Regarding your problem. What about precomposing your footage but with an increased comp width. And applying Power Pin to the precomp? Just an idea.

    • @JakobDinesendk
      @JakobDinesendk 5 місяців тому

      That actually works. A bit unprecise as I don't have any exact placement points for the power pin to match, but with a little adjustment, I think I can get it to work. Thank you @@MichaelPonch
