it depends how you look at it, for me having fun means having the joy of the Lord Jesus Christ to praise his name out loud in a revival church lifting high our praises for him and being filled with the Holy Spirit. full of prayer and praise . there is nothing wrong with this sort of fun but it grieves Gods Heart and mine too to see his word kicked very evil and I strongly Condemn this behaviour! So, I went to a church service that started at 3 p.m. and the service started on time but the pastor got up and said "Well, I had a whole sermon prepared but he said that the Holy spirit told him to go in another direction". So he had one of the members read a particular passage from 1 Peter and then he expounded on that. The service didn't hold long because it was super bowl Sunday and I was disappointed. He just wanted to get out of church early. Nothing comes before God.

God is Holy “set apart, pure, perfect”. This "service" made me think of Exodus 32 where Moses was "long in coming down from the mountain." Watching this and other "services" like it tells me we are there where those Israelites were, we are doing the golden calf and revelry thing instead of worshipping our God in Spirit and in truth😢. And just like in Exodus 32 there's always an "Aaron" ready to do and say to God's people what God has not authorised, for their own purposes.

@@Psalm95_4 if you are talking about mega churches then the only one so far I like was City Gates in Forest Park but I only been there once. They preached the Word and many godly people I know recommended it to me. Try that Church and see if you like it. There are churches that hold Super Bowl parties, 1) To feed folk. 2) As an alternative to going to the bar (the church I'm thinking of, there is a lot of food and non-alcoholic drinks). However, I never saw a skit like that in a church service.
My church did something similar to this before the sermon on “Super Bowl Sunday’, some kid came out dressed in football gear and for some minutes, the speaker and he talked about some football,content and tried to relate it to the Word. As that happened, I felt so scandalized and offended that such a thing happened. I was very disappointed that my church did that and thought about leaving, but I stayed and listened to the sermon after that show

In the next few months I’m about to buy a 220$ bible which is preordered For July delivery . And I’m going to possibly get it rebind which will cost me another 200for the right color I want . Currently I don’t own a bible just been using bible apps. The excitement just to have a special bible with the word of God is important to me . Football cover or not why in a sacred place , a house of worship , a house of Prayer and a house that should preach the Word of God in spirit and in truth be kicking it like a football ? I watched a church service where they had their members come in their favorite team Jersey if they wanted to. There wasnt many dressed for the occasion. They still preached the word on 1 Corinthians 12 and 13. They didnt go to this extreme though. They did tailgate after service.

i attend crossroads cincinnati oakley location but we never attend on super bowl Sunday

I’m trying to figure out why I’ve been going for 5 years with my son and now two kids in total . We have a baptist church but crossroads is where we go more often.

So, I went to a church service that started at 3 p.m. and the service started on time but the pastor got up and said "Well, I had a whole sermon prepared but he said that the Holy spirit told him to go in another direction". So he had one of the members read a particular passage from 1 Peter and then he expounded on that. The service didn't hold long because it was super bowl Sunday and I was disappointed. He just wanted to get out of church early. Nothing comes before God.

God is Holy “set apart, pure, perfect”. When we come into His house we should reverence it as so , we should be able to put our moments of worldly pleasure aside for a few hours and give Him complete attention. No football jerseys no signs no team colors. Ancient Israel gave God 24 hours worth of Holy worship .We give God maybe two hours in a week now nothing is Holy. “Thy will be done as it is in Heaven.”

The Answer to why is in the bible. Paul mentioned a Great Falling away from the faith, what we see here is a by product of that. People have been conditioned by "Entertainment" to have such a short attention span that they cannot comprehend God's word normally. SO churches compensate for that by making service Entertainment. Sooner or later it becomes about entertainment over God. Its so so sad, but this is just one way the "Falling away" is occuring.

This "service" made me think of Exodus 32 where Moses was "long in coming down from the mountain." And instead of waiting to hear the Word of the Lord the people became impatient and created the golden calf as their God instead, and it further says in that chapter how they engaged in "party" behavior (revelry) that was not befitting of God's chosen people. Watching this and other "services" like it tells me we are there where those Israelites were, we are doing the golden calf and revelry thing instead of worshipping our God in Spirit and in truth😢. And just like in Exodus 32 there's always an "Aaron" ready to do and say to God's people what God has not authorised, for their own purposes.

They preached the Word and many godly people I know recommended it to me. Try that Church and see if you like it. As far as smaller Churches if you want I can name some but I rather you message me directly so i dont put the names of the smaller churches out publicly.

There are churches that hold Super Bowl parties, 1) To feed folk. 2) As an alternative to going to the bar (the church I'm thinking of, there is a lot of food and non-alcoholic drinks). However, I never saw a skit like that in a church service.
My church did something similar to this before the sermon on “Super Bowl Sunday’, some kid came out dressed in football gear and for some minutes, the speaker and he talked about some football,content and tried to relate it to the Word. As that happened, I felt so scandalized and offended that such a thing happened. I was very disappointed that my church did that and thought about leaving, but I stayed and listened to the sermon after that show

In the next few months I’m about to buy a 220$ bible which is preordered For July delivery . And I’m going to possibly get it rebind which will cost me another 200for the right color I want . Currently I don’t own a bible just been using bible apps.
The excitement just to have a special bible with the word of God is important to me . Football cover or not why in a sacred place , a house of worship , a house of Prayer and a house that should preach the Word of God in spirit and in truth be kicking it like a football ? The Word of God is Sacred to me .

I watched a church service where they had their members come in their favorite team Jersey if they wanted to. There wasnt many dressed for the occasion. They still preached the word on 1 Corinthians 12 and 13. They didnt go to this extreme though. They did tailgate after service.
