- Today's video is all about my candle business and how I started. Starting a business can be scary but exciting. It's a HUGE accomplishment but it is a lot of work leading up to your launch.

THINGS I DID BEFORE LAUNCHING MY BUSINESS
STEP 1: Research, Research, Research
STEP 2: Decide on a business name
STEP 3: Search for naming availability (Every state has a secretary of state or other state agency that's responsible for business entity filings. You can use the online tool to search business names and find out whether another business is already using the name you have chosen.)
STEP 4: Checked if the domain name was available (purchase domain and email address) domains.google...
STEP 5: Filed for LLC (state filing fees vary)
STEP 6: Applied for EIN (FREE)
STEP 7: Ordered candle vessels, fragrances, wicks, warning labels, boxes etc.
STEP 8: Purchased materials to make my own labels (paper, adhesive, paper trimmer, ) www.michaels.c...

STEP 9: Used Shopify to setup website (there is a 14 day free trial, $29 per month after for the basic plan) www.shopify.com/

I know, this looks like a stressful list of things to do. Trust me, I've been there. But it is SO WORTH IT in the end!

I really like that you put so much effort into getting the kind of labels that you wanted. I'm glad that you didn't settle. The candles look luxurious. The gold color on the "Paris" candle just looks all kinds of fancy. So your packaging is great. And I like that you just want everyone to win. I just started using Il Makiage foundation recently and I absolutely LOVE It. It is the best skin match I’ve found yet and it feels nice and light on my skin. I’m excited to follow your candle business journey. Eventually I’d love to have my own but for now, I’ll live vicariously through others. ;-)

I believe Bath & Bodyworks uses a paraffin wax blend for their candles. I used to love getting their candles but then notice they would have this “off” smell to them. After researching candle making I’ve found out that it’s the paraffin when burned gives a wonky scent. So kudos to you for using all natural wax! 👍🏾

Congratulations and I'm praying much success to you! This is something that I would love to do, but I get so confused with how to create the fragrances. I have the name and I love word play, so coming up with names for the candles wouldn't be hard.... just knowing what I would want them to smell like is where I'm stuck.

As far as fragrances are concerned, I would like to mix my own at this point because I find that there are so many candle makers who use the same fragrance oils and I want to be as unique as possible.
