  • The Webb was designed to look back into the early cosmos. How will what it found affect our belief in Genesis' account?

Religion has nothing to do with anything but religion.

The great majority of the time, I would say this is true. Shinto, Hindu, Buddhism -- they are all ethical systems, and so their character (and value) remain unaffected by anything outside themselves. People either find them meaningful, or they don't.
The two great exceptions are Judaism and Christianity, because they affirm that their faith is grounded in a book that claims divine origin -- and that book is filled with historical material. If that historical material is not accurate, then the claim to divine origin is false (how could God lie?) and the religion collapses. If, then, the Genesis account of creation is not factually correct, people can look elsewhere for religious truth. It won't be found in the Judaeo-Christian faiths. Thus, these faiths are ineluctably bound to history and to objective fact. Hence, the importance of the Webb to Christian/biblical faith.
