I start working om the side las augost with a 21" push mower a used weedeater and used troybilt blower everything on back of my truck,then 3 months later a bought a 33" cub cadet walk,and i was still putting it on my truck 2 months after o bought a 5x8 2019 open trailer,1 month ago bought me a new echo blower,2 days ago bought a 42" raptor..
Have 32 lawn customers as I am part time this year. Have a 36 inch walk behind with sulky I use for every yard except 1 hill is no joke 45 degrees the sulky comes off. I love the standing because your legs like when walking absorb all the impacts. A sit down mower all the impacts your lower back takes the impact because your on your butt. I think I want a 52 v ride 2 stander for next mower when I go full time. faster and more cutting then my 36 but keep the 36 and out all small yards on 1 day together.
My landscaper told me that he would have to charge more for mowing a property because he couldn't get his 48" walk behind mowers through the narrow gate. Later I saw him tilting the mowers on the side and rolling them through the gate on 2 wheels.
I like the standers best. They seem to be the most functional. It is a good balance between a rider and a walk behind. I'm stuck with a crappy old craftsman 46" rider and a nice honda push mower right now. Looking to upgrade to a gravely stander this year or next depending on how good business is this year.
One of my buddies is letting me use his Staris 32" until he trades it in for a bigger deck. The engineers did a phenomenal job with it, and the pin deck doesn't but me in the slightest. I like the Staris because it doubles as both a stand on and walk behind since the OPS is in the handles and not the platform. I've got some videos on it. Wouldn't mind you input on them if ya could? No sweat if not, I understand you're likely pretty busy. Thanks for the content.
I have a 52" husqvarna commercial zero turn with bags, a 36" Toro grandstand stand on and an Arians 21 " push mower, my favorite is the Toro stand on, but it was pricey.
mowguy fudd Toros are overpriced.i have 36”turboforce walk behind but mainly bc I got a good deal on it used. I would never pay $9k-$10k on a stander. Now gravely does have a good spring sale on their pro stance. 20% off of $8000~roughly $6400. That’s a good deal
I got a 48" hustler raptor xd with bagging system, non-vaccum. It does clog up in wet/and/or tall grass conditions, but with spring/fall clean ups in new england is clutch, cuts my time in half. Walk behind in my case would be luxury, like now with all the rain we're getting would be good to less likely tear up the lawn. Some properties turned into the everglades, 1st time after 5 years. If only a walk behind had a big enough bagging system...
I believe a 36” and 52” is the ultimate setup. Can almost always get a 36” in a backyard and can use the 52” up front. I have a 36” walk behind now. When things grow, I may go with a 52” stander.
I have a Toro timemaster, scag cheetah, scag swzt walk behind, both scags 48". Husqvarna 52" zeroturn. Looking to make some changes this year. Different properties so thinking about going with a scag 61" zt and Toro stand on, not sure on size. But heard Toro stand on is the best for hills.
I have a scag v ride 2 and I mow in Cincinnati. If you’re not familiar Cincinnati is very, very hilly. My Scag does a fantastic job going up and down some very sketchy properties.
Buying my first commercial blower today and then I'll buy a commercial weed eater and a commercial mower later I'm getting the sthil bg 86 I was thinking of getting a backpack blower but I returned it because it's just too heavy and I don't need all that right now maybe soon but not right now
Last summer i purchased the husqvarna 525 BX commercial handheld blower. Its the competition to the stihl BG86. It has a little more cfm and air speed specs. I find it easier to use on smaller properties than a backpack and it has as much power as most of the smaller backpacks. 525bx is very light, quiet and has no vibration. I love it. I plan to get a medium size backpack maybe redmax, but will always have the handheld for quick deployment and back up. Good luck.
I got a 48" husq residential mower and 2 21" self propelled push mowers. Just do residential properties rite now. Next season We will be getting a new scag v ride stander so we won't have payments. I really do appreciate all your videos. Could you do one fer overgrown properties? Best way to cut, bid, and such. I have 3 about waist high i need to get after the rain clears out here in Texas.
Do you find that Exmark’s 1.5” cut is low enough for Bermuda? Obviously 1.5” does fine, but some mowers offer 1” as their low. Curious if 1” on a rotary is just too much anyway and they’d be better with a reel mower at that point?
I would say 1 and 1/2 inches is low enough for 95% of Lawns. There are some people who like to keep it lower. I remember trying to keep a Bermuda lawn very low with a walker mower. It was difficult to keep it that low unless you are cutting it every 2 or 3 days
Lawn Care Life How was the cut quality of the Walker at 1”? I’d be willing to cut mine every 3-4 days. I’m reel mowing some of mine now, but that’s gonna be tough to do my whole yard, but I love Bermuda low. Trying to find compromise. I got a good deal on a used Turf Tracer 36” recently, but haven’t gotten to really put it to the test yet.
Standers only on any new purchases going forward. More comfortable, easier to get on and off, safer, faster. Everything you said about rider mowers is wrong. Its more comfortable and faster on rough terrain to use a stander. I have thousands of hours on both standers and ZTs. I will only be purchasing standers going forward.
@@lawncarelife I'm sorry but what you said about them is what i hear from people with little to no experience on standers. They most definitely aren't more comfortable, and are not faster. What you said is what I hear from homeowners who just want to sit. If you've used a zt for 8hrs one day and then spent 8hrs on a stander the next you will almost certainly agree that the stander was both more comfortable and more efficient at getting the job done. I don't mean any offense. It's just what I know and hear from others with my experience.
@West Georgia Lawn Care LLC lol. Wrong. The biggest problem with ZTs is how they beat on your back. Once again I have over 2000 hours on both ZT'S and standers. You're back is much happier at the end of the day when you've been using a stander. I highly doubt you have the experience I have using both. On top of that my ZT experience has been almost 95% on large ferris suspension mowers with Michigan suspension seats and I would still prefer to operate a stander.

Look through the comments and you will find that an overwhelming number of people who have experience using both will say something along the same lines as what I've stated. It's just the way it is. Another common theme in those comments will be the ones preferring to sit don't have extensive experience with both. I will say that it does seem counterintuitive but I promise you that stand on mowers are much easier on the body.
I bought a 32 inch ZTR with a bagger from the beginning, because I was looking at fall leaf clean-up. I even have a couple of customers that want their lawns bagged. Love it. I was also able to buy a used Cub Cadet 46 inch rider for my bigger lawns, it also came with a 36 inch blade for snow removal and an aerator.
I've been using the Ferris Z2 52" stander for a year and came from the sit down ztr's. And I can say this to be true for me with switching, my back issues from mowing are far far less standing than when I was sitting. My only complaint with the stander is, and it could just be my inexperience with them, but my only complaint is when I hit a hole or rough bump in the yard my hands get all wonky on the controls and I lose control a bit and I have to stop and regain my composure. But the more I use it the better and more comfortable I get. I can say I will never go back to sitting down while mowing. Standing makes this old dog (53) feel better and younger.
I hate to admit it but I've actually gone over the handle bars of my grandstand a couple of times. It's not as serious as it sounds but its definitely embarrassing. I'm 6'1" and 250lbs so when you're going 8mph to an unexpected dead stop it can throw you.
I went to purchase the 32 staris but was turned off by the fs motor and deck adjustment system so I know what you mean. I ended up with a Wright 36 stander I. It has the FX motor and easy deck adjustment. I won't buy another fs kawasaki. I've lost 2 with under 500hrs due to rocker brackets coming loose. Not to mention the horrible air filter situation on the fs. I'm sticking with mowers that have Donaldson filters going forward.
Ive had my eye on the gravely pro stance, but Wright just came out with the "Stander B" Its their sorta entry level model but still considered commercial. About same price as Graveley. Decisions Decisions. Dangit !

Sit down 60 inch Kubota ZD 1211 , 36 Exmark vantage stand up will fit single gate back yards for a 1 person set up I can take anything !!!

We run a 61" sit down and a 52" stander with mulch kits/baffles . If our 52" doesn't fit in back yard gate then we don't take on the yard.
I’d love a stander, just not a fan of payments, I’m still pushing a 21. Hopefully I can get a wright at the end of the season

Im a solo operator in market for either a stander or ztr. Cant make up my mind if standing is better than sitting when factoring in trimming/blowing.

Toro is good. I have heard really good things about the gravely pro stance as far as hills are concerned. Those take hills like a beast.

Perhaps you're correct. I did say in the video that the ground speed was the same. I've just started using a stander

I have a 42" Ztr & a 30" Timemaster for small back gates with a 5x8 open trailer. I would love to get a bigger Ztr or stand on mower.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I like the suspension on my staris. It seems to handle bumps pretty well

Staris E series is trash. Engine choices are bad and no quick height adjustment. S and x series is way better
Mine is the S Series. I don't think they make an X Series on the Staris.

Exmark dropped the ball on the e series line. No quick deck adjustment on a 6-8k mower.
