This series of clips were never intended to be a video,
--I recorded them on this trip just to have a bunch of memories to look back on. I appreciate the patience with the ever changing aspect ratios on this video. I have big plans for summer 2020. STAY TUNED
What was the name of the hostel at the end of the trail that provided shuttles to either end of the trail?
i did the whole trail this summer with my dad and i think it is so cool to see the places i saw. i am only thirteen so i hope i remeber the treail for the rest of my life. thanks this was really cool to watch
Nice video. Brings back memories. I did the entire NPT with my dad in 1980. There wasn't any lightweight gear to speak of and GPS wasn't available. I was 12 and my dad asked me what I wanted to do for summer vacation. I told him hiking, picked up the NTP book in the Eureka store, rented 2 packs and 11days later we had a story to tell. I go to Ironman Lake Placid every year and being there camping has been giving me the itch to do it again. I love the area. The Adirondacks are a great place.
That’s awesome. It probably took a lot more guts to do something like this back then. Pack weight and trail popularity considered, it was a much harder trail then than now.
Loved this. Helps me to prepare for my trip.
Congrats! This was fun to watch. Good to see this section of ADK. Cheers from Canada!
That a heck of a hike! Great job. You kept on going despite some challenges. Good for you.
Awesome! I didn't know you a channel here. I always wanted to go down the cold river trail, but I never got around to it. I hope your thru hike was worthwhile and thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I’ve had one for a little while but am now just getting around to make something out of it. When I took this trip I wasn’t sure how I wanted to share it with others and didn’t think it was worth using my phone but I’m glad I made something to look back on. Looking to improve my skills and my quality this year. :)
Awesome. You rocked that out!
This is such a beautifully made video! I loved following your adventure. Well done. ❤️
Thank you Jessica!
That was great. Thanks!
Yup, that’s at the top of my bucket list!
And I think I’ll start where you did in Lake Placid, like in the movies, going south always feels like I’m going downhill.🤣
Loved that shot at 6:50. Also the Buck with velvet on his antlers, super cool!
Oh, and all the F-Bombs, hahahahaha
Great adventure!
Hahaha the f bomb moment was just too real to not share. I have so many unforgettable memories from that trail. Totally recommend it or a similar trail!
She spotted a car in lake placid, but she hiked nobo
Congrats on completing the NPT solo! Rated R for REAL Adventure! Did the Cold River section August 16-19 2019, unbelievably beautiful. Second time there, will be back for sure. Our route took us out Preston Ponds Trail to Upper Works. Way less mud, sooo steep!
Thank you so much! It was really cool and I felt so good about myself afterwards! The cold river section was easily my favorite!
Wesley Jones also just realized, you were on the trail when I was. I finished in Lake Placid in August 17th!
Oh wow! You must have been a day ahead, we stayed at Seward LT by Miller's Falls the 17th. Duck Hole the following night. For me it's about exploring the "nooks and crannys"! Anyways you so crushed it! ADKs are a treasure and outside of the high peaks, relatively unknown, shhhhh hope it stays that way!
Congratulations, very nice job, I did it in the fall 2019 and had a super fun trip, thanks for sharing, cheers
Thank you! Such a cool experience!
Great video Danielle! Super stoked for my attempt this May. Thanks for making these videos
Thanks! You’ll love it!
Congrats!! I hope to hike the NPT someday soon!! Hard to get that many days off work to do it ughh. Thought hard about how long it would take me? I figured 10 days-ish maybe less conservatively. I figured i would pack enough food till long lake and do one mail drop of food or clothing there to finish the trail. ADK's for life!!
Great video! I thru-hiked the Long Trail last summer and hope to do this one in the next summer or two. Thank you for giving a sneak peak at what awaits. Good luck with your future adventures!
Thanks for watching, would love to try the Long Trail in the near future!
Nice video! I’ve seen some of your posts on FB and Instagram too. I’m planning on hiking this trail in August or early September. It’s only been on my bucket list since 1992.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching it! I would do it in later September, probably a lot cooler and less bugs. The leaves were just starting to change in long lake when I went through.
Nice work! I hope to hike this trail soon.
I would have loved to hike this in September. Cooler weather and a lot less bugs!
Danielle... this video is F'ing great! (F-bomb #18 🙂)
Cool trip! Had to laugh at the F-bomb tirade!
I couldn’t hold back any longer
Nice video thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed watching.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video ! Really glad I found your channel ! Nice effort. I’ve canoe camped several times on the Cedar River Flow, and never realized the LPT was that near ! I might need to do that hike one of these days! Cheers
Thanks so much! It was definitely one of the greatest adventures of my life. If you can get the time to do it, I highly recommend.
Great trip! Looks like you had lean-tos all to yourself!
Yes I did! I was really lucky.
Just found your channel great hiking and good luck to you I will keep watching your progress
Thank you for watching and for subscribing! Good luck to you as well!
Awesome!! Really enjoyed this. Thanks.
Thank you for watching, im glad you enjoed it!
@@DanielleRootes question for you.. your 25 mile day hiked.. roughly how many hours did that take you? I am trying to plan my days and miles hiked and wondering the difficulty of the trail and daylight hours to hike 20 - 25 mile days. I am comfortable hiking 20 + mile days, just curious how the trail is and how many hours it took.. thankyou!!! And good luck with that van! Very very cool... love it!!
Great job Danielle. That is a huge feather in your cap and you did it solo! I am very humbled. Keep up the great adventures! I subscribed. You can give ADK Woods Walker (Jay) a shout out for bringing me here! I am so glad he gave you a plug on his channel.
Thanks so much! That trip was one of the best things that I could ever do for myself. It gave me a lot of confidence. Thanks for taking the time to watch my experience and I hope that your subscription to my channel is worthwhile.
Great video! Hoping to do this trail soon. What was your favorite part?
Thank you!! I think the Cold River Section was my Favorite, I also enjoyed the Silver Lake Wilderness in the very beginning in between Woods Lake and Mud Pond!
Great hike. Really nice job with the video. Loved the day 4 morning rant. I told my son he needs to find a girlfriend like you.
Haha! Thank you!

i plan to make a video addressing some tips for the trail and things that i learned while on trail. As far as mileage goes I averaged 18 miles a day. Thanks for watching!
I talk a little about my bear hang in the "Whats in my Pack video". The video that i am about to post talks about some other details that may be useful to you.
No re-supply that’s cool. I hate people leaving trash, I always bring out something that’s not mine. Great cursing 😊❤️🇺🇸⛺️🌄
Haha I wasn’t about to sugar coat my struggles. Thanks for watching!
