Dan's "rata tat tat tat🎶" bit gets me every gawrshdang time
Same. It doesn’t get old. Hehe, *oldbag*
I’ll leave…
🚶🏻
God DAMMIT Arin! Why would you read ahead and spoil yourself on this case! It's one of the best cases in the whole series and I wanted to see your reaction to the big twist! Ugh!!! Dan was right, someone DID get super pissed off, and that's ME! At least I still get Dan's reaction.
Same here dude 😤
Ngl this sucks a substantial amount of ass
I'm not mad, just disappointed.
Somehow a part of me knew he would do this...
I have the worst feeling he'll tell Dan. He did that during Silent Hill and it really frustrated me.
Especially considering how long it takes for them to get through these games. It’s like watching a great show with a buddy but only two episodes every week and when you’re finally at the last arc, your bud says “DURR, sNaPE iS LUkE’s fAtHEr”
Not surprising that Arin spoiled the entire case for himself, just as long as Dan doesn’t get spoiled on how it ends.
Arin has already played all the PW games. He admitted as much when they played the first game in the series years back, so not really spoling, more refreshing previous knowledge. But God help him if he spoils Dan. D:
And then of course at 35:56 Arin pretends he's "guessing" that Maya is in Engarde's house. "I TOLD you dude, I told you she's in this house" when Danny figures it out.
@@nick-tp6bk Whoa. Spoiler owl. :o
@@nick-tp6bk i think he knows the basic plot beats like who the killer is, but not the smaller stuff like maya being in matt’s house
@@crepprubyyeah he did say he “spoiled” by “going ahead” in a way, so he might’ve just poked through a walkthrough for like the next 3-4 steps through the case cuz he probably didn’t remember anything, but I genuinely don’t think he spoiled himself all the way down to the END of the case
I wouldn’t say I’m pissed that Arin looked up the ending... but AT LEAST 30% of the Game Grumps joy is watching them struggle to figure things out. Watching them both piece it together is the best.
To be fair there's countless episodes where Dan will ask something about where the story may be going and Arin will pause then brush it off because he obviously knows what's coming but doesn't know whether to tell Dan. XD
whats astounding is that his goldfish memory allows him to still not know wtf is happening 90% of the time... either that, or he truly is the greatest actor of our time!
Except that some folks tend to get upset whenever they're stuck for periods of time or especially when they accidentally talk over important stuff while doing their show and people get anal that they didn't pay attention.
Granted, there are times where they blame the game over their own screw ups but in the end of the day, let them play how they want because games are better when they play it at their own way, not how WE do things.
I prefer that Arin either has a walkthrough or looks ahead, because that means we won't be stuck in one part of the game for multiple episodes. In my opinion I don't think Arin over does it with walkthroughs.
@@turnipcrazy4602 walkthroughs are fine especially in games like these, idk why he would look it up before the video with the full ending when the point of watching it is to see their reaction, like he can use the walkthrough in real time without spoiling everything for himself
Not to worry, Dan. I'll only get pissed off if Arin spoils it for you.
Snape kills Dumbledore
@@angelasfixations Damn you Spoiler Owl! Next thing you'll tell me that Tyler Durden was all in the narrator's head. D
Unfortunately, he already starts spoiling it for Dan at 34:10.
KYAAA! ROSEBUD!
@@HornetColoredDreams did you mean Dan?
Edit: there we go
Phoenix is such a great judge of character that he NEVER finds anything suspicious about the butler, who was the last one to see Maya before she disappeared, and was the person the transceiver came from that they use to speak with the killer, who was at the house of the guy we just learned hired an assassin and who specifically DOESN'T have a butler so he had to send his lawyer to feed his cat--
Edgeworth still doesn't even question the "director" of that health clinic so they're both batting zeroes at this point.
@@rebellemuria A clueless match made in heaven.
Also why is the living room of Engarde's manor so dark if there are open windows
@@rebellemuria Also, this "master assasin" who's family has eluded capture for at least 100 years, couldn't come up with a better cover name than "John Doe"
To be fair to Phoenix, I don’t think he’s slept in like 30 hours or something by this point.
Friendly reminder that Franziska's father ALSO got shot in his right shoulder and because of it took the ONLY vacation in his career to hide away & lick his wounds. Franziska not only got shot in the same place, but instantly got surgery and was better by the middle of the day.
She's way cooler than her father.
And the only reason she's taking a vacation is Edgeworth is forcing her.
Well, the only reason Manfred chose _not_ to get surgery is because it would've placed him at the scene of a crime.
34:00 Nick casually referring to Pearl, an eight year old child, as his fellow lawyer is just so funny to me. I imagine her puffing up her chest and nodding her head very seriously like, “yep, uh huh.”
And then at court, she puffs up her chest a little too much and accidentally turns into a dead woman.
That’s such a cute image
Gumshoe is the kind of guy who will be on a speaker call having a tense conversation with the line "How dare you call me a child! I am an absolute professional." and then lean out his car window immediate to say "Yeah, can I get an adult Happy Meal with the boy toy?"
some heavy 'Shariff from Squidbillies' energy...
...did i mention that the toy was for a Boy?
He has a boy toy now though. His name is Pheonix Wright!
The fact that the Dekiller family have being assassins for 100 years, that means that they were around during The Great Ace Attorney. In fact, I'm surprised that they were not part of the plotline, considering what happens.
15:09 Adrian Andrews has what’s called Dependent Personality Disorder, in her case a reliance on others to fulfill her emotional needs (thankfully she seems to be able to take care of herself physically). Phoenix was about to point out that there’s no way Von Karma didn’t know that. Even someone as cold as her didn’t want to be reminded that she took advantage of someone’s mental disorder.
oh damn, i didn’t realize that was an actual thing, nor that it was genuinely that extreme. that really is dark.
@@plushdragonteddy Yep, I learned about this for the MCAT recently and the first thing I thought of was Adrian Andrews’ condition. Edgeworth was entirely correct in calling it an “illness” because it is exactly that.
Personality Disorders in the Cluster C are characterized by fear and anxiety. They include Avoidant, Dependent, and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorders (OCPD is different from OCD).
Her disorder is also Ego-Dystonic, in that she sees the disorder as something being wrong with her, rather than her being normal and the rest of the world being wrong. That can cause a lot of distress, and is why she tried so hard to hide it.
@@plushdragonteddy something tells me you will greatly enjoy the epilogue to this case. 😊
@@mikelxanadu 👀👀
This is extremely fascinating
I hope you passed your MCAT!😊
I like it when Arin doesn’t know the story coming up and experiences every plot twist for the first time alongside Dan.
I’m not pissed though.
LOL
I might be a little...
But that's also part of the Game Grumps experience tbh, love them
Yeah I was going to say I was slightly disappointed when I heard that but that's all.
Didn't even really recognize it until Dan said anything
@@alext6933 I wish we could see Arin's reactions to some games, like suprise horror games, because he often chooses the games and has to reads walkthroughs.
This is also a really good court case, so yea, bit disappointing
Arin not understanding the appeal of blind playthroughs after being a let's player for over ten years is...
... Well it's a thing all right.
21:20
Oh I just realized...
They used the magatama on him to tell if he killed Juan, which was true, he didn't, and the only reason that's true, is because he had hired an assassin...
Gawd, damn...
I think Pearl also uses her magatama on Phoenix, and that's why she is protective of Maya's relationship with Nick (to the point of even slapping him - it's implied when she rolls up her sleeve and he talks about having a red face.)
@@GreatWightSpark
That's a good point especially since the only reason the magatama Phoenix has is capable of seeing the psyche-locks is because of Pearl's power in the first place, so it'd make sense that her own magatama would be able to do the same, or at least something similar, it'd explain the reason she's so invested in their dynamic.
That was pretty obvious
@@user-gi9zy8rc2r
Thanks for the reply bot👍
"i bet maya is in here" - arin, who admitted almost 30 minutes ago that he reread the rest of this case
It's easy to deduce such a thing, and if he hadn't said that, it would be very inorganic. Why not at least pretend he doesn't know?
He said he saw how it ends not the whole thing
he’s said that he’s already played all the games so technically he knows all of the endings but just refreshed himself
Why admit you spoiled the case for yourself and then pretend you hadn't? Would've made more sense to either not admit he spoiled it for himself, or at least not act as though he figured it out himself so that Dan has a chance to.@@GreatWightSpark
Wow this case really made up for the lack of Wrightworth interactions throughout this game
3:10 "Someone out there just got really pissed off"
It's me. I'm that someone.
So am I
I'm not. Arin already admitted to playing all the PW games when the Grumps did the first game in the series, so it's fine long as Dan isn't spoiled.
@@ShunGuan But then at 34:09 Arin spoils for Dan "I bet Maya's in here", pretending to guess. and at 35:56 when Danny figures it out he's all "I TOLD YOU DUDE, SEE I TOLD YOU SHE'S IN HERE". Why is he pretending to be clever when he literally just admitted he read ahead and also has played it before?
@@nick-tp6bk I think it has something to do with the fact that he is grump but I could be reading too far into things.
Me too!
It's no biggie if Arin knows the ending because we treat this like bedtime stories for Dan (putting an image of Arin tucking Dan to sleep with a book except it's ace attorney into y'all's heads)
You get it
Ikr, it was same thing for DDLC and Undertale, so this doesn't bother me at all.
Of course people read ahead especially for walkthroughs and stuff. That's normal. I know about a lot of games I've never even played.

I love the anime bloopers. I lost it when Pearl's voice actor paused after Gumshoe got whipped and said ".....that turn you on Nick?" followed by Phoenix's actor laughing xD I laughed so hard at that and thought of the Game Grumps.
"Shoe" is an impractical cat name. When you try to call out to him it's just gonna sound like "Shoo! Shoo!"
Well it's not like cats _inherently_ know that sound means "go away". All you'd have to do is say something else when you want the cat to leave.
Adrian said she'd off herself when Edgeworth revealed her dependency. To quote Edgeworth: "If you're going to say you'd 'choose death', that is of no concern to me." Edit: It's cute that the Edgeworth and Franziska voices are similar. Siblings :)
That whole exchange is so interesting, Edgeworth himself acknowledges that he has a parallel with the Adrian and Celeste storyline. I also think Edgeworth sorta thinks the truth will save her, but we don't know that about Edgeworth yet so it comes off way harsher than it does in hindsight.
Arin struggling to find a word is an ADHD trait I struggle with every day
Came looking for this comment! It's so relatable!!!! 😂
Can we lobby for a classic Game Grumps Remix of the "rat-a-tat-tat-tat" cadence that Dan has for Oldbag?
Funnily enough, 1 in 12 is the EXACT number of murderers amongst defendants Phoenix worked for in the trilogy. 5 in the first game, 4 in the second, and 3 in the third when you take out the two Mia cases.
Looks like a friendly ice-cream salesman to me.
Waaaaayyyy too early and esoteric for that joke right now
@@weirdcat8373Even then, that joke never left Japan officially so some folks won't get what you're talking about.
Just a simple guy who likes selling ice cream, yes...
I understood that reference.
@@kiirosoleil, this assassin has posed as a butler & a hotel bellboy. In another game in the series (one that didn't get a U.S. release), he poses as an ice cream salesman.
"I don't know what that means, but I hate it." Dan, absolutely. This line also made me laugh out loud.
"let's go let her whip us Mr. Nick" WHAT
Not so fun fact: Director Hotti originally talked about wanting to "examine" Pearl, rather than her nurse when you talk to him about her in the Japanese version. The translators naturally changed it to him perving out on her nurse, instead.
:( isn't pearl like single digit old
Yes, which is why it was most likely changed
JAIL JAIL 100 YEARS DUNGEON
to quote dan some episodes ago, “dude, japan. come on, guys.”
The fact that they normalize perving on teenagers is one thing, but children in the single digits? Wtf is wrong with Japan.
"Why is phoenix incapable of believing a defendant is a murderer" That's literally his job, my dude.
It's a whole thing in these games that the defence attorneys need to believe in the innocence of their client to the very end of things.
He also does have a magic rock that tells him when someone is hiding something, so if a client says their innocent, he has a pretty good reason to trust them.
Besides, if a defendant _is_ guilty, it's the prosecution's job to prove it. Why should Phoenix do it for them? It's basically the moral of the series that court proceedings work best when both the prosecution and the defense are both giving it their all. Because that means they'll leave no stone unturned.
Lotta hasn't moved from that spot since the last investigation. She's squatting there.

Dan and Arin, separately, each make up half a person. But together, they unite to form the ultimate Power Ranger!
GRUMP RANGER!!
Their zord is a gassy wolf with antlers, whose entire job is to fire and miss, repeatedly, until they pass out.
For clarification: Arin has already played the games and read ahead as a refresher. This playthrough is for Dan to experience. But I understand.
I really, really understand. It's okay. We can still enjoys the boys
One of life's simple joys...is the boys! :D
Did he say that? I never got the impression that he was familiar with these characters before they played the games on the channel, other than stuff like knowing that Wright and Edgeworth are a popular ship (and you don't need to have played the games to know that).
@@Rikanuhe at least knew Mia dies
I don't mind him preparing for these episodes at all. In fact, going in blind seems amateur, and for a company owner, I would be surprised at his naivety if he didn't! He's an honest and hard working guy, who looks out for his friends and fans, regardless of the animosity.
@@GreatWightSpark He's the company owner and a *comedian*. Him prepping ahead of time makes things funnier and more enjoyable, especially when keeping Dan in the dark. All the hate is totally unwarranted.
As long as Dan is unspoiled, we're all good.

“So he would be farting in her face?”
Arin: “Her face is at BUM level, kinda hard not to!”

I feel like I'm going insane because Dan says they're recording in March but I swear Arin repeated my comment about Celeste Inpax.... verbatim? And even mentioned the replies too? On the comment I wrote in April? While they were recording a session weeks before this one, ie early March/late February? Am I losing it? Are we in a SIMULATION???
Sounds very zero escape 😆 (which I hope they play one day 🤗)
They probably just checked what happens Next Time on Game Grumps, as they do, and Arin read the comment you wrote ahead of time from when they posted it in April. Not sure why other creators don't read future comments this way, it really helps maintain the illusion.
@@mordanthubris6516 I’m so confused by this comment. What?
@@statementofjoespooky1660 It's a joke. OP said that even though Dan said they were recording this in March, they could swear Arin repeated a comment posted in April verbatim. I'm suggesting that the GG can actually see the future, so when they say "Next Time on Game Grumps" at the end of videos (which is itself a joke, because as an unscripted improv show, they have no idea what's happening next time), they are in fact looking forward in time and that's how they read the April comment a month earlier in March.

42:44 There's something so on brand about Arin cracking himself up just by talking about a grown man farting on a little girl's face... Please Arin never change
Arin reading ahead means that he won't accidentally spoil-guess-remember the plot twists like he did for Dan on the second trial of this game, considering he had already played through this game many years ago. All in all, pretty smart move. 👍
I dont think he ruined anything in the second trial. It was painfully obvious with some of the dialogue that came out of nowhere.
@@_Banjo_ I've learned with these types of games, you really can't make that assumption. What's obvious to one person can completely go over the head of another (and not just because their a comedy duo who records in batches every few weeks)
Watching different danganronpa LPs are what really drove this home to me. I thought the games were stupidly easy to the point I thought the recommendations were trolling, until I watched ppl play who really went into trials not knowing the real murderer
Thankfully, Dan actually forgot about Arin guess spoiling the second case.
First episode of the session and he’s having a laughing breakdown over farting in the kid’s face. That’s the quality we’ve come to expect from award winning comedy duo “Game Geumps.” Keep it up.
Wait what do they mean Engarde likes the color blue? There's nothing blue in his room
I really hope someone's already in the process of making animations of Phoenix and Pearl's adventures. Just going around, solving cases together, starting from way back when Phoenix and Pearl go out on the town and she has to hold his hair while he throws up; to him farting in her face down a hotel hallway all the way to the lobby to meet with Oldbag.
A "law detective"???
That would just be a regular detective XDD
26:05 - 26:25 oh yay, seems like Arin read that comment about Pearl and the bed. The year is 2018 though, which is wild in hindsight, but bc Phoenix is a rather low tech person too and Maya doesn't really do lawyery work at the office, I can suspend my disbelief
42:45 Another one for the "Arin cracks himself up with his own award-winning comedy" compilation, followed up by the very end at 45:18.
Gumshoe getting fired from his detective job is kind of messed up when you think about how his entire name just means "detective detective"

There's a line young and dumb Phoenix says in game three that I think was tailor made for Arin's sense of humor, and it happens I think in the very first case of that one. I hope someday we get there.

The Spongebob editing in the video is amazing, so much talent!
What's wrong about it for me is that I truly don't see the point in reading ahead and spoiling the whole thing for yourself like that.
Except that Arin already experienced this case before so him looking it up isn't spoiling anything. He's just reminding himself what happened in this case given how it's one of the best and not everyone wants to re-experience it blind especially when it's long and they have a schedule of games.
