I've been playing for 35 years, and in the late 80s & 90s, 60% of pre-tax retail price was pretty normal for used gear. It's all kind of ridiculous now.
Interesting video. Vintage Ibanez, Maxon or other gear may have higher price, because it's vintage simply. So there're two different markets: vintage equipment and ordinary contemporary. The second one's prices are surpressed with overflood of used gear and billions of new gear stamped every year and immediately becoming same used gear.
(A lil rant from me , a hillbilly from south central Ohio" ......Here in the US , the working class have been struggling . People say "I don't want to get political" but you have too . But in the US there is "real policy politics" then there is "social media , drama , identity BS politics" . The working class have been seeing their purchasing power dwindle . For example in 2003 I made $16 an hr and today I make $32 an hr . With inflation my purchasing power has only increased $150-$160 . Meanwhile corporations have seen record profits every year since 1980 . Our govt handed Wall Street the keys in 1980 and it's been hard on working class Americans . Another problem is people get approved for lines of credit and buy things they want . Problem is when something happens and they can't pay , the interest rates are criminal . Like 30-50%+ . Then you can never rebound . Gibson and Fender's prices on standard USA models are criminal lol . For a standard Gibson Les Paul is was $3200 after taxes . A Fender USA Strat is $2400 after taxes....a bolt on neck that has the neck and body carved by CNC machines . IMO I think all these profiteer/greedy folk wanted to see how far they could push things until we took to the streets . But the USA is so divided politically , it's tough to bring people together . It would just be good if us who work full time jobs could afford was once considered essentials , are now luxuries ( Car , food , house payment ) Those three things now are now crazy expensive . Great video BTW . Take Care - Jman
Great Video! and thanks for watching us!
Cheers.

Agreed. Let's hope we see some price drops.

I can get just about any style of guitar with any wiring schematic brand new, for under $500.00. Absolutely no reason to buy used at inflated prices.
Yeah, buying used doesn't make sense right now, unless they're offering a legitimately discounted price.
Crack is expensive tho
