I really like your channel! Have seen a few videos now :)
I am dutch. And I really like our song.
But as you said I am a little worried about qualifying with this one. But I still have hope. Staging can do a lot.
I hope they will perform live somewhere in the next few days. Usually the chosen artist does.
But if we manage to go to the final, 11th place again could be possible haha.

I'm Dutch too. I am a little worried there aren't any juries in the semi's this year. So I am not 100% convinced it will qualify. I think it should based on the quality of the song. I would've been less anxious if we were in semi 2. But for me personally something just doesn't click. S10 last year I was sold from the get go. I need a bit more time with this one I think.

@@Stonebrook83 I immediately liked the song. But that is just personal. But the selection commission should reconsider their method in the upcoming years. You really need something powerful. But I think this song had already been chosen when the EBU revealed the new voting system.

I sat with it for a while and I am starting to get into the lyrics more. You don't need to connect to leaving everything behind and starting over. You say goodbye to old life all the time...when you graduate, when you get a new job, when you get married, when you have a child, when you get a divorce, when you get really sick, when someone close to you dies, when you get sober..you leave pieces of yourself behind constantly while moving forward. It doesn't have to be chasing a big dream or highs and being afraid you don't have time to do everything..it can be about chasing little normal things that bring you joy. So I'm definately feeling this song more and more. It still didn't need two lead singers though :-) But i am enjoying it more for sure.

Thanks you for your words, I'm in this fase in my live after divorce, bad relationships, losing almost everything I worked hard for, this song speaks more and more to me and it has actually a very strong message in it for people who in stuck in this cycle of unhappiness right now. You have to break it and find what gives you real joy in live and chase that. It is a good message for europe with everything that is going on. Things changed so quickly in such a short time, the world is not the same anymore after wat we all have being through. It a message of hope for me.

@@Behavioralresearcher I am glad the song speaks to you and that you find strenght and comfort in it's message. At the end of the day that is the purpose of art. To make life a little more bearable when everything around us is so overwhelming.

I agree with almost everything you said in this video. Quality! I love this kind of music, but something is still lacking. I don't know what it is yet. My first thought is that the melody, which is beautiful, just isn't on level with Arcade and similar top notch ballads. I don't really feel it enough. But this is a song that will grow, I think. I will add that good lyrics can make or break a song. It's become more and more important to me because of all the very "cringe" and over used lyrics seen too often. Extra points to the Netherlands just for this fact. I also love melancholy, so...

I didn't know what to expect really. I was kind of annoyed that they were paired up for the purpose of Eurovision but that happens all the time so I put that aside. I am slightly underwhelmed. I like the song. It is well written, well produced and well sung. I like certain vocalizations and lyrics. But I don't connect with it at all. My biggest issue with it is that I do not understand why this is a duet. There is no reason for it. They both sing from the same perspective. I also from the video at least don't get a good feel of their chemistry. They don't really interact physically and vocally and when they do it's towards the end at the goodbye old life part but it takes too long to get there and it's over too quickly. I hope they perform this live soon and prove me wrong and i'll gladly swallow my words. Vocally they are both on point, staging potential is great. They need a good stylist to make them a more cohesive pair because it's a bit of a hodgepodge of styles at the moment. It has Duncan Laurence written all over it and I like his style of writing so that's something I like. I like it but I don't love it and that is odd because on paper it has all the ingredients for me to love it and yet I don't. I think for me the reason why I don't connect with it is because they don't seem to connect to eachother. They sing their parts and that's it. It's my own country darn it and I want to love it and fight everyone who doesn't :-) Like with S10 and Jeangu both times and Arcade I was hooked instantly and I don't get that with Mia and Dion. I don't like comparing but Ilse and Waylon had crazy chemistry. They had a falling out in Copenhagen, travelled home separately and had a very unpleasant public fight. But there was a years long friendship and respect there so those feelings ran deep and they were both hurt and felt wronged. That was painful to see. If Mia and Dion never speak again after this I would not be surprised, like i'm sure they like eachother and are friendly but if Duncan hadn't pressed for them to be in this together I doubt they would be and it shows. God please let me be wrong and make me fall in love with their live performance...please please please...Does this make sense? I like the song and I like them seperately but all put together it just doesn't work for me. Yet. Untill I see a live performance I hesitate to make a prediction about qualification. However in a televote only semi I worry, I am not gonna lie.

I like this song (looking forward the live performance). Like you said the themes are relatable: the ending lines made me think about how much the world has changed since the pandemic. To nit pic, "the same old cycle" sounds awkward to a native english speaker: "cycle" evokes something clinical or mechanical, and it is made worse when the backing vocals repeat the word cycle several times: made me cringe, oh well.
