Prepare to be stirred.

This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHC of a concert of Maestro Domingo and he dreamed from that time of meeting and working with him. I am sure Dimash appreciated the opportunity to support young classical artists as a judge of the Virtuoso program at the invitation of Maestro Domingo. We hope all of Dimash's dreams come true and we will be here for him.
Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip. Maestro Placido Domingo was of course 1 of the Three Tenors (with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). And let me tell you (I'm here for the first time) that I really love and appreciate you and your attitude, you belong already to our community that I am proud to be a part of for 5 years now (oh gosh, how time flies - with Dimash by your side it has become a much happier and more joyful life...). Samaltau is about a young Kazakh who was forcibly recruited by Russia in 1916. He was forced to leave his home country and his elderly parents to go to war (WWI) and does not know what awaits him there as a soldier or how his elderly parents are to manage without him. He was forced into a war that is not his. The best version in my opinion is from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. It’s pure emotion.

Normally there are no vocal acrobatics in his native songs and I love them a lot. In every of this songs you can hear the great love and devotion to his country and his people.
You also really have to hear another beautiful song in Kazakh.
Qairan Elim means Holy Land and is a prayer and an expression of fear about the fate of Dimash's country and the world in general. The MV is fantastic and he even directed it. The man, Renat Gaissin (a Kazakh composer) on the piano is also a friend of his and he has also written songs for Dimash such as River Of Love, an instrumental in which Dimash plays the dombra, and the song Òmir Òter (Ode to Life). This MV was presented of the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence. Also a must see but switch on the subtitles. A masterpiece. Goosebumps!

And an absolutely mind blowing bonus, if you hear and think the Qobyz sound is so incredibly beautiful and unique then there is a video on yt showing rehearsals for his Almaty concert in September 2022 on Qairan Elim. Olzhas Qurmanbek, who always plays the Qobyz in his songs, wasn‘t there or not yet there. Than Dimash sang the sounds of the Qobyz. It took me a a while to realize that this isn’t an instrument at all, it's Dimash‘s voice. At first I couldn’t believe it, but then I thought, Ok , it’s Dimash😄.

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. (singer and composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!

Oh yes, the Live Stream performance he did for the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2020 during quarantine is gorgeous. Heartfelt and intimate. It is the story of a young Kazakh man conscripted by the Russians into the army to fight in WWI while his people were forced to quit being Nomads and subsequently were starving. The words of the song were taken from a letter that was found in the young man's belongings and put to music by an unknown person.

Dimash was asked to participate as a judge in the competition for young classical musicians... and then... he gave us dear ones this wonderful jewel.
Maestro Domingo invited Dimash to sing the duet with him the day before. Dimash only had a short night to learn this song in French... and besides, Dimash had a cold with a cough. (You notice it more clearly in the second song at the end of the concert.)
Dimash would never act recklessly towards his duet partners. With good manners and respect, he would never drown out Maestro Domingo (then still 82) with his voice. He even adapts to Maestro Domingo's vocal color.
Dimash opens a new world to many Dears... the world of classical music. You can change people's behaviour with kindness, not threats. Anyone reading a threat will likely resist it. Yet a gentle polite request will almost always work. This is a wonderful, gentle and loving reactor who truly appreciates Dimash. I am sure he will add the links. Perhaps he has to find out how to do it first. When I first uploaded videos to YT I had no idea how to do it. There is a lot to learn on YT. Dears are a loving, respectful and supportive community, like Dimash himself is. I believe it is very important to keep it that way.
