Thanks Neal! While I was initially drawn to Glass Harp through Phil's work, John Sferra's songs are among my favorites, especially on those first three albums. I had the pleasure of meeting John on both Phil's Crimson and Blue Tour as well as a Glass Harp reunion concert they did in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and he revealed to me his love for the music of King Crimson. Sea and You, much like I Talk to The Wind, has a calming ambiance that is nothing short of timeless.
Wow what a treat ! Thanks so much for doing this. I hope that perhaps John, and Daniel and even Phil might be so inclined to post some more interviews.
Thank for posting and sharing the interview with John Sferra, never saw the vintage band with Phil way back when. Did see them upon releasing Hourglass CD and DVD Live from '72! Amazing musicians and hope they will record another album one day through Kickstarter or available on Bandcamp? Thanks again!
Awesome job Neal & John...Besides seeing GH many times,Phil,a few times,John & Daniel w/Mike Baranski in The Fuzz.I saw John & The Survivors in Hermitage Pa. in the 80's.I also had the pleasure of recording w/John,Gary Markasky(former MSB guitarist)& myself on Bass,in John's basement in Howland,Ohio in 1991.I wish I had those recordings(lost in the shuffle from moving a time or so)...I wonder if John has any copies of that night.
What a wonderful interview, Neal, thank you so much for sharing it with us. Be sure and thank John for opening his memories and heart to all of us. Is there a link to that Bug Out session you guys talked about, super interesting mix of songs, bet it was good !!
The Sea and You is a fabulous song by John. Great interview. A class act.
