Oh Carol I know, it does the same to me. absolutely heartbreaking. Both the song itself and the way all of this should have gotten so much more recognition and praise. I can only hope Steve knows how much we appreciate him and all these gems!!
What a beautiful song sung as only Steve could sing it. And that shot with Steve on the piano with that stadium full of people behind him? My God! He could have easily been a movie star in the 70's in films like "Vanishing Point". Anyway, I must say it's a rare and wonderful thing to meet a woman who loves Kansas and Steve Walsh. Thanks for posting.
Totally agree with everything you said Brett. I can totally see him in movies, or imagine him in like a rock opera made into a movie like JCS style.... !! Damn :) He will always be my favourite singer all categories, no question about it. No one else will ever move me the same way, even the times when his voice was shot, he still had that special something to me. Thanks so much for commenting!
Linnea you are a Wheathead Goddess! Don't know why but this song so simply done breaks my heart. I just can't get over the words. Why oh why did it never reach the airwaves????
WOW....Linnea, i have this in a dfferent form, no back-up vocals and no repeat of the bridge section. This is so beuatiful!! Thank you So much for posting! And I agree, Steve SHOULD be paid for every time!
Minhas preciosidades. 😍🎶🎤
@Linda, well awesome. One more new album available that we don't have to worry about YOU buying, and one more KANSAS concert seat available that we don't have to worry about YOU wasting. Those of us who have seen the new lineup laugh and point at people who say it's a "joke." The new line up is fantastic. Some of the new music is fantastic. The musicians are fantastic. Take your hate and your supposed knowledge of the dedication of this band to keep performing for the fans somewhere else. Nobody cares about your ridiculous opinions.
Spot on. I've been a fan since 74 and this lineup is the best they've sounded since late Audiovisions tour. Powerful is a word t use when describing these guys and I love The Prelude Implicit.
How did I miss this one!? He is amazing !! I realize this is a long time ago. I heard him just recently and his voice is coming back.he looks healthy again. Thank God he got clean. I wish we could go back to the 70s and 80s.
linnea none of the demos convert to audio for me can you suggest any free software? It does download as a video no prob but hell I am dying to play it in the truck!
When I first heard about Steve leaving Kansas..I was crushed!! but at the same time I understood.. I have been a singer my whole life and it has cost me a lot of time, patience, and money to follow my dream..at one point, in the late seventies, my band did a lot of Kansas covers and it was an honour to sing Kansas songs, as well as Styx and Queen ..for a living.. but if I was Steve at 63 years of age and don't forget the amount of touring they did, even when there were almost nobody there to see them.. aka Freaks of Nature tour....they hung in there!!! A BIG HUGE MAJOR KUDOS to them.. but sadly over the years.. you would see Steve with wrist bands...had a lot of trouble with his voice..because of obvious reasons ( insert rock star imaginations here)...had to give all the high vocals to Billy..and I think it came to a point that he knew he couldn't continue on..and btw..did you see any of the meet and greet photo's in 2014..he looked down right "miserable". But Steve is not a "meet and greet" kinda guy. Anyway..my point is ..it was time for him to leave... and I personally think that the band Kansas is a joke now!! Ronnie Platt on vocals, god knows who is the keyboard player..OK..save me some time..Phil and Rich are the only original members. so...can you say "cover band"? And to add insult to injury..these new..wanna bees are in the studio writing a new album...YES A NEW KANSAS ALBUM!!!! Phil and Rich Williams are the only existing members of Kansas and they NEVER wrote any of thier material!!! Only Kerry Livgren and Steve Walsh were the writers. Kerry has been gone for a long time now but would make guest appearances when Kansas was playing live while Steve was still in the band. Anyway.. I will NEVER BUY A CD OR GO TONS KANSAS CONCERT EVER AGAIN!! Steve Walsh is the voice of Kansas..without him..they are just a cover band like I had in the 70's doing Kansas songs.
+LINDA Madden Excuse me but that is utterly hurtful. Do you realise that? Do you realise that the original line-up also came from nowhere and worked their way up in a very harsh business, and that the band had evolved several times before that most famous line-up was even established? Bands evolve and go through changes, and we all have favourite eras (I know I do too), but what is it that makes you feel you have to be outright nasty about it? The current keyboard player and the current singer have worked their asses off to be where they are now, and they're extremely talented. I haven't been able to catch the current line-up yet either, but when I do, it's a relief to know people who act like you just did won't be there. Leave those seats for people who can treat others with respect. I honestly don't think that any of the original members including SW would wanna be associated with fans who's got your attitude- that's my guess anyway. Hats off to Phil and Richard who have been the backbone of this band for almost half a century!
+LINDA Madden, Before you denounce the new lineup you should see them live. Kansas is still a band. A band that is filled with not only two original members but made up of ultra talented musicians that have paid their dues to get to be part of kansas. Billy Greer has been with Kansas over 30 years playing bass/vocals. David Ragsdale has replaced Robby Steinhardt twice and not only contributes violin and backup vocals but also guitar! David Manion has been the lighting/keyboard tech for Kansas for years and has been in Billy Greer's band 7th Key for years. Ronnie Platt has been a vocalist/keyboard player/bass player for many years and has a history with Phil Ehart's drum tech's (Eric Holmquist) father musically. The man has pipes that are very reminiscent of a younger Steve Walsh. Yes, the band is in the Studio making a new album. Why trash talk until you hear the finished piece of work. Not only is it insulting to the die hard Kansas fans but to the Kansas family itself. Bite your tongue my friend...because you'll just make enemies with the direction you are taking..
I don't believe we've seen the last of Steve Walsh. First, he appeared in Europe (and sounded great) and I think he'll sing again. I'd love to see him set out on his own like Lou Gramm has done...maybe even team up with Lou for a show. That would be beyond incredible.
"Dear" Linda Madden, here you are again, trashing people as if you were the expert on talent and music. Being a singer in a band doesn't give you the right to mock people and put them down. At least, have the decency to shut the f--- up if you don't have anything good to say. It is very sad you never have anything good to comment in ANY group you're part of. I really question why you insist saying you're a fan, or to be part of all the Kansas (the band) groups if you despise them as much. All Kansas lineups had it's magic, whether you like it or not. The last one with Mr. Platt and Mr. Manion is another glorious one. Let me remind you that Mr. Ragsdale and Mr. Greer have been with the band for many years now. Steve decided to leave the band for his own reasons and is back on the music scene touring with other great singers as well! I would suggest you leave anything "Kansas" alone, you're definitely NOT a fan! Have a nice day! BONGO!
Beautiful song and perfect vocals. Steve is one of those once in a lifetime vocalists who can really move you.
I felt this in my heart , brought tears to my eyes , beautiful song , golden voice ❤️
Every time I listen to this I love it more, and for some reason that last picture always brings tears to my eyes...
Oh Carol I know, it does the same to me. absolutely heartbreaking. Both the song itself and the way all of this should have gotten so much more recognition and praise. I can only hope Steve knows how much we appreciate him and all these gems!!

And one more thing, that last line and how Steve sings it is so incredibly powerful that it brings tears to my eyes. A true gem. Thanks again.
