I feel like the three symbols on their cutie marks represent passion(Scootaloo), talent(Sweetie Belle), and family/friends(Applebloom). I figure since all cutie marks are based around a natural talent, passion, or familial bond and/or how they help friends/family. Scootaloo has a passion for all things fast(with Rainbow Dash speed incarnate the lightening bolt makes sense ). Sweetie Belle likes to stick with what she is naturally gifted(singing). Last, Applebloom has an apple mark and on this show Apples are synonymous with family/connection to society.
Probably the closest we are going to get to the writers at MLP tackling the subject of the divorced/separated family issue. I liked this one a little bit more than the previous episode.

Finally getting her own solo is amazing after eight season is crazy but kinda crazy how long it took. Her voice sounds so powerful! I’m so surprised we haven’t heard it like this till that episode. Quite a birthday gift of an episode, wasn’t this? I knew it would be a ‘check mark’ episode for you on several counts, cuz it threw a lot at us: the Crusaders being called by the Map, the return of Mt. Aris and Seaquestria, and Seapony Crusaders! =D Thank you for clarifying the issue of the Map supposedly only calling those related to the Mane 6. Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash are sisters-at-heart, but they’re still not ‘related’. There’s definitely something interesting going on with this Map in the problems it detects and the ponies it summons. I wonder who it’ll call next. It was great to see Mt. Aris and Seaquestria again, and see how things are after the Storm King was defeated. It was also interesting to see the social structure of both communities (along with their taste in fish-related delicacies, lol), and to see how some hippogriffs elected to either stay hippogriffs, or go back to being seaponies. And yet, even though there are couples who are divided by this choice, like Sky Beak and Ocean Flow, they’re still on very good terms with each other despite their living preferences. It puts a more heartwarming light on the metaphor for separated families that it seems to present. Still, interesting to point out that things might not have been so cheery for a long time after if not for the CMCs. I’m glad Twilight accompanied the Crusaders. She never gets to go on these Map missions otherwise, but she at least has a school-related excuse, lol. You’re right, tho: Twi and the Crusaders haven’t had a lot of bonding time since Twilight Time, so it was extra sweet to see them together. Plus, it was heartwarming to see how welcome Her Studiousness was among the hippogriffs and seaponies, after the whole Pearl fiasco. Seems she made amends with Novo, and she really got to enjoy herself in this one. =) Poor Terramar, tho. He’s been going back and forth between his parents, worried that if he settles with one, he’ll disappoint the other. I know the feeling of being in the middle, and feeling like I’ll let someone down no matter what I choose, so I can sympathize with him. Plus, everygriff his age already chose where they want to live, so he felt pressured by this ‘coming of age’ dilemma, and thought he needed to decide, too. Still, as you say, this is what the Crusaders excel at: figuring out what a pony’s future path is. They helped Gabby, even though she didn’t have a cutie mark (even if she wanted one), and coupled with the fact they’re still kids themselves, they were best suited to help Terramar. It was sweet seeing Sweetie Belle enjoy herself in the natural beauty and music of Harmonizing Heights (I didn’t even notice her horn glow when she ran off. Good eye. XD), but it was nothing compared to Scootaloo enjoying herself underwater. It’s the closest she’s ever come to flying unsupported, and it twanged at my heart to hear her say so, as much as it completely shattered yours. I’d be all for her being given one of those necklaces, but I agree that this flying issue of hers needs to be resolved before the show ends. It was a little jarring to see Sweetie Belle so grumpy about being in Seaquestria, but perhaps if they started there first, and then went to Harmonizing Heights, it’d be Scootaloo who would be in a bad mood. The song was really enjoyable, but soured at the end with Sweetie and Scoot refusing to speak to each other, especially after Terramar left. Extreme? Maybe, but they’re still young, and, like you said, was a good representation of Terramar’s problem. Moreover, let any adult who has never acted childish or over-the-top in regards to their passions cast the first stone... Besides, at least they had Apple Bloom there, as the sensible and impartial one. I think AJ would be proud to hear how she didn’t take sides and made it clear that she didn’t support her friends being so stubborn. And at least they made up in the end.

All I want to know from this episode is this... Did Siverstream's mother sign the form or not!? Also, as you stated, the map can call anyone it wants. Hence Starlight in "A Royal Problem", she's not related to anypony in Ponyville. Sure, she's Twilight's student in that episode (well, in a way, even though she technically graduated at the start of season 7), but other than that, no other real connection. All I want now is the map to summon Trixie sometime for a mission of her own.

This is my fave episode of the season, so far! I had the SAME reaction when the CMC's got called and that they were going to Mount Aris. And seeing more of the hippogriffs is ALWAYS a plus. I LOVE Terramar as a character. I also had a WILD reaction at first because his voice sounded like Thorax, so I thought he was voiced by Kyle Rideout. Turns out, I was wrong and he's voiced by Cole Howard. First time writer + first time voice actor + great story = OUTSTANDING episode! 9/10 stars for me! Oh, and happy late birthday...yeah, some present, AMIRITE?!
First of all, Happy belated Birthday Applegeek! I absolutely had fun with this episode! My reaction to the CMC getting summoned for a map adventure and the destination being at Mnt. Aris was very similar, I loved that feeling. I had hoped that we’d get to learn more about the lifestyle of the hippogriff’s/hippocampi(as well as getting confirmation on how the can change forms at will) and I couldn’t have been more excited than I was. Getting to know Silverstream’s family members was very nice, including Terramar. I can see why Sweetie Belle loves Harmonizing Heights, being a calm, cool and serene location on Mnt. Aris and Scootaloo loving the thrill of living in Seaquestria; I can vouch for that because I have a great fascination for ocean life. By the way, the song featured in this episode is one of my favorites sung by the CMC. I throughly enjoyed this episode, it may be the best of the season yet! I’m excited for the next non-Equestrian location that the map will select for our fellow characters. Excellent reaction as always, Applegeek!😉
I loved how they chose to tackle the subject of divorce. I have divorced parents and their relationship isn't a healthy divorced relationship unlike this one.. although it is still very relatable. We've seen MLP base episodes about certain struggles before, (For example "Tanks for The Memories" which represents the loss of a pet), but this I believe is the most straight forward episode that tries to connect a hard hitting subject to the MLP world. I prefer rewatching your reactions when I want to watch MLP instead of watching it by myself which is why I'm back here 5 years later.
Camille Bethyler i am disabled myself. And I don’t really see her as disabled. I kinda see it as her wings haven’t grown in yet. She’s still young and her wings are just small. I think they referenced the idea that her wings just need time to grow more then once throughout the story, however briefly.

We've been waiting a long time for a story where the Crusaders get called by the map, so Hasbro gave us one. They also gave us more Hippogriffs/Sea Ponies and references to the movie, without actually featuring characters like Queen Novo or Princess Sky Star. I get that hiring their voice actors would be expensive, but their absence is noticeable. Anyway, let's see what the next episode has in store. And hopeful the problem won't be so easily resolved this time.
As much as I should be upset for watching this episode back in December when it was leaked. Seeing your reaction now, just made me actually happy to have seen the episode then because even though I was spoiled, it still was a great episode/moment to remember. Also, I realized that it would've been a better idea for me to see this then with less spoilers, than to see it now with getting completely spoiled. This episode makes me think of two things. One, the plot from Little Mermaid 2. And two, a child forced to choose where they're going to live in a divorce case.
In the leaked version, the chorus of "Don't forget about me" played at 22:42. I thought it was awesome that they made a reference to the breakfast club. It made the episode that much better.
I love watching your reactions and commentary again (^w^) Sweetie Belle’s excitement over Harmonizing Heights I felt wasn’t weird at all and for in totally with her character. Yes, we haven’t gotten much backstory for her but we do kno Sweetie loves music, it’s one of her favorite hobbies and past times (On Your Marks, Show Stoppers, etc), she can sing, and she has a music note on her cutie mark, so I think we know that’s Sweetie Belle is very passionate about music. And if you really listen to the orchestral piece playing while Sweetie is frolicking around Harmonizing Heights, it is very beautiful. I used to play violin in DC’s Youth orchestra and I can definitely feel Sweetie’s connection and live for the music. (Setting aside the fact Sweetie is my favorite CMC) I loved the lesson in the episode and I’m sure it is very relatable to many people. I thankfully did not have to worry about my parents separating but I do remember when I was 12 in middle school, seeing a peer sobbing constantly because she was told she had to choose which parent she would want to live with as they were separating...I couldn’t imagine good my through that, as my struggles are more personal to myself and mental illness and traumas...I love my family greatly, and to go through something so colossal and life-alternating as separating parents and feeling as though you have to pick one and especially from m such a young age....It’s heartbreaking and heartwrenching and my heart goes out to those who had had to and are still going through this right no. I’m glad MLP tackled this difficult subject even though the implications were subtle and I think they did a great job handling it this episode. So sorry for the long post...It’s been a long while since I’ve actually commented on one of your videos. But thank you for doing what you do Applegeek Sir, and you’re still and always will be awesome to me! (^w^)
This is personally one of my favorite episodes since the moral was really personal & relatable to me. However, I'm still surprised that none of the Hippogriffs or Seaponies showed any resentment & animosity towards Twilight for trying to steal Queen Novo's pearl.

Also just side note that when Scootaloo in the underwater scene really reminds me of the song For a moment from The Little Mermaid 2 movie in which Melody (Ariel's daughter. Not only did it call the CMC, but further than Manehattan and Canterlot. END OF THE WORLD! XD That map is as sentient AND mysterious as the Tardis! That's my headcannon! And I too loved Scootaloo's mention about swimming being like flying. Kind of reminded me of something she said to Dash in The Cupcake Chronicles. Hope that checkmark survives the season. If something blows this episode out of the water you'd probably rip that thing.

Quite a birthday gift of an episode, wasn’t this? I knew it would be a ‘check mark’ episode for you on several counts, cuz it threw a lot at us: the Crusaders being called by the Map, the return of Mt. Aris and Seaquestria, and Seapony Crusaders! =D
Thank you for clarifying the issue of the Map supposedly only calling those related to the Mane 6. Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash are sisters-at-heart, but they’re still not ‘related’. There’s definitely something interesting going on with this Map in the problems it detects and the ponies it summons. I wonder who it’ll call next.
It was great to see Mt. Aris and Seaquestria again, and see how things are after the Storm King was defeated. It was also interesting to see the social structure of both communities (along with their taste in fish-related delicacies, lol), and to see how some hippogriffs elected to either stay hippogriffs, or go back to being seaponies. And yet, even though there are couples who are divided by this choice, like Sky Beak and Ocean Flow, they’re still on very good terms with each other despite their living preferences. It puts a more heartwarming light on the metaphor for separated families that it seems to present. Still, interesting to point out that things might not have been so cheery for a long time after if not for the CMCs.
I’m glad Twilight accompanied the Crusaders. She never gets to go on these Map missions otherwise, but she at least has a school-related excuse, lol. You’re right, tho: Twi and the Crusaders haven’t had a lot of bonding time since Twilight Time, so it was extra sweet to see them together. Plus, it was heartwarming to see how welcome Her Studiousness was among the hippogriffs and seaponies, after the whole Pearl fiasco. Seems she made amends with Novo, and she really got to enjoy herself in this one. =)
Poor Terramar, tho. He’s been going back and forth between his parents, worried that if he settles with one, he’ll disappoint the other. I know the feeling of being in the middle, and feeling like I’ll let someone down no matter what I choose, so I can sympathize with him. Plus, everygriff his age already chose where they want to live, so he felt pressured by this ‘coming of age’ dilemma, and thought he needed to decide, too. Still, as you say, this is what the Crusaders excel at: figuring out what a pony’s future path is. They helped Gabby, even though she didn’t have a cutie mark (even if she wanted one), and coupled with the fact they’re still kids themselves, they were best suited to help Terramar.
It was sweet seeing Sweetie Belle enjoy herself in the natural beauty and music of Harmonizing Heights (I didn’t even notice her horn glow when she ran off. Good eye. XD), but it was nothing compared to Scootaloo enjoying herself underwater. It’s the closest she’s ever come to flying unsupported, and it twanged at my heart to hear her say so, as much as it completely shattered yours. I’d be all for her being given one of those necklaces, but I agree that this flying issue of hers needs to be resolved before the show ends.
It was a little jarring to see Sweetie Belle so grumpy about being in Seaquestria, but perhaps if they started there first, and then went to Harmonizing Heights, it’d be Scootaloo who would be in a bad mood.
The song was really enjoyable, but soured at the end with Sweetie and Scoot refusing to speak to each other, especially after Terramar left. Extreme? Maybe, but they’re still young, and, like you said, was a good representation of Terramar’s problem. Moreover, let any adult who has never acted childish or over-the-top in regards to their passions cast the first stone...
Besides, at least they had Apple Bloom there, as the sensible and impartial one. I think AJ would be proud to hear how she didn’t take sides and made it clear that she didn’t support her friends being so stubborn. And at least they made up in the end.

Also, as you stated, the map can call anyone it wants. Hence Starlight in "A Royal Problem", she's not related to anypony in Ponyville. Sure, she's Twilight's student in that episode (well, in a way, even though she technically graduated at the start of season 7), but other than that, no other real connection.
All I want now is the map to summon Trixie sometime for a mission of her own.
It'd be a great way to have another 'background ponies' episode someday, maybe... have the map call 'em!

This episode is the best tackling of the topic of divorce I've seen. Kudos to the writers.
This is my fave episode of the season, so far! I had the SAME reaction when the CMC's got called and that they were going to Mount Aris. And seeing more of the hippogriffs is ALWAYS a plus. I LOVE Terramar as a character. I also had a WILD reaction at first because his voice sounded like Thorax, so I thought he was voiced by Kyle Rideout. Turns out, I was wrong and he's voiced by Cole Howard. First time writer + first time voice actor + great story = OUTSTANDING episode! 9/10 stars for me!

First of all, Happy belated Birthday Applegeek! I absolutely had fun with this episode! My reaction to the CMC getting summoned for a map adventure and the destination being at Mnt. Aris was very similar, I loved that feeling. I had hoped that we’d get to learn more about the lifestyle of the hippogriff’s/hippocampi(as well as getting confirmation on how the can change forms at will) and I couldn’t have been more excited than I was. Getting to know Silverstream’s family members was very nice, including Terramar. I can see why Sweetie Belle loves Harmonizing Heights, being a calm, cool and serene location on Mnt. Aris and Scootaloo loving the thrill of living in Seaquestria; I can vouch for that because I have a great fascination for ocean life. By the way, the song featured in this episode is one of my favorites sung by the CMC. I throughly enjoyed this episode, it may be the best of the season yet! I’m excited for the next non-Equestrian location that the map will select for our fellow characters. Excellent reaction as always, Applegeek!😉

I loved how they chose to tackle the subject of divorce. I have divorced parents and their relationship isn't a healthy divorced relationship unlike this one.. although it is still very relatable. We've seen MLP base episodes about certain struggles before, (For example "Tanks for The Memories" which represents the loss of a pet), but this I believe is the most straight forward episode that tries to connect a hard hitting subject to the MLP world. I prefer rewatching your reactions when I want to watch MLP instead of watching it by myself which is why I'm back here 5 years later.

Overall, this was a brilliant episode (and reaction). If anything, I think it shows how much the series really listens to its fandom. We've been waiting a long time for a story where the Crusaders get called by the map, so Hasbro gave us one. They also gave us more Hippogriffs/Sea Ponies and references to the movie, without actually featuring characters like Queen Novo or Princess Sky Star. I get that hiring their voice actors would be expensive, but their absence is noticeable. Anyway, let's see what the next episode has in store. And hopeful the problem won't be so easily resolved this time.

As much as I should be upset for watching this episode back in December when it was leaked. Seeing your reaction now, just made me actually happy to have seen the episode then because even though I was spoiled, it still was a great episode/moment to remember. Also, I realized that it would've been a better idea for me to see this then with less spoilers, than to see it now with getting completely spoiled. This episode makes me think of two things.
One, the plot from Little Mermaid 2.
And two, a child forced to choose where they're going to live in a divorce case.

In the leaked version, the chorus of "Don't forget about me" played at 22:42. I thought it was awesome that they made a reference to the breakfast club. It made the episode that much better.

Sweetie Belle’s excitement over Harmonizing Heights I felt wasn’t weird at all and for in totally with her character. Yes, we haven’t gotten much backstory for her but we do kno Sweetie loves music, it’s one of her favorite hobbies and past times (On Your Marks, Show Stoppers, etc), she can sing, and she has a music note on her cutie mark, so I think we know that’s Sweetie Belle is very passionate about music. And if you really listen to the orchestral piece playing while Sweetie is frolicking around Harmonizing Heights, it is very beautiful. I used to play violin in DC’s Youth orchestra and I can definitely feel Sweetie’s connection and live for the music. (Setting aside the fact Sweetie is my favorite CMC)
I loved the lesson in the episode and I’m sure it is very relatable to many people. I thankfully did not have to worry about my parents separating but I do remember when I was 12 in middle school, seeing a peer sobbing constantly because she was told she had to choose which parent she would want to live with as they were separating...I couldn’t imagine good my through that, as my struggles are more personal to myself and mental illness and traumas...I love my family greatly, and to go through something so colossal and life-alternating as separating parents and feeling as though you have to pick one and especially from m such a young age....It’s heartbreaking and heartwrenching and my heart goes out to those who had had to and are still going through this right no. I’m glad MLP tackled this difficult subject even though the implications were subtle and I think they did a great job handling it this episode.

This is personally one of my favorite episodes since the moral was really personal & relatable to me. However, I'm still surprised that none of the Hippogriffs or Seaponies showed any resentment & animosity towards Twilight for trying to steal Queen Novo's pearl.

Also just side note that when Scootaloo in the underwater scene really reminds me of the song For a moment from The Little Mermaid 2 movie in which Melody (Ariel's daughter. Look it up if you haven't heard it or seen it) sings about how she's happier in the sea rather than on land.

And I too loved Scootaloo's mention about swimming being like flying. Kind of reminded me of something she said to Dash in The Cupcake Chronicles.
