How precious is Alika, she was so gentle and it looked like she wanted to cuddle. It's sad to see Effie appearing to be struggle with motherhood, so it's nice to see that this baby can get lots of love from a big sister. Maybe like Toto and Sumomo's relationship. 💖💖🦍
That is just beautiful❣️😍 If you watch carefully, without judgement, two things happened there: firstly, Effie became very alert and was observing very closely as Li’l Eff approached Alika and, secondly, Alika remained very still and allowed the baby to touch and smell her without attempting to pick the baby up or disturb it in any way. I believe the baby is around 6 months old now, which is a perfectly appropriate age for it to begin exploring a little and experiencing some gentle interaction with the rest of the family. Baby was close enough for mum to step in if there was any danger.❤ Also, there was a video recently that showed Effie breastfeeding Li’l Eff for a long time. She was in the background of the main action, but she was holding baby and caressing his head - I think it was on the Cute Animals channel. I noticed there were very few comments on that video… 🤷♀️ I get so much enjoyment from channels like this one. I find the behaviour of the gorillas fascinating and try not to judge because they’re gorillas, not humans. I trust that the gorillas know best how to be gorillas, that the zoo staff know best how to care for their gorillas and that we distant observers are only seeing short glimpses of the gorillas’ lives. I’m very grateful for the videos, but they don’t make me a gorilla management expert! Maybe people would enjoy the videos more if they tried observing the gorillas for the amazing creatures they are, rather than looking for things to criticise and get worked up about. ❤😊
Poor baby she just wants somebody to cuddle her . Effie is motherless with no affection towards the baby. She does not even want to be touched by her. Effie pushed the baby on that branch and it had points in the branch. The keepers should watch her.
Effie doesn't seem to want to be a mother. She leaves the baby for extended periods of time, and blocks her from cuddling and eating. I feel bad for the little one.
Effie's little one is absolutely adorable. I am glad there is another mother in the troop who is amazing. Hopefully Mjukuu can give some motherly love to Effie's baby in the near future.
I just recently started watching this troop, so I won't be too judgemental BUT .... Effie seam to be disconnected as a new mom. I imagine the keepers are monitoring the baby though. Reminds me of another troop I watch via these fantastic UA-cam videos, where two new mothers in the same troop couldn't be more different.

Effie seems to lack good motherly instincts at this time. I'm glad she's trusting others help.

Effie is not nice to her baby at all...
Good Lil Effie needs some motherly affection

If the mother rejected the baby would be dead...too bad human parents do not realize their children need to be self reliant.
I hate mommas that block there baby from cuddling or eating!

When she fell over the rope I thought she was going to start crying and mama was gonna come running!
It looked to me like the baby made the first move and tried to grab onto her leg and then she picked the baby up.
I never see Effie baby feed, I am sure it must but I worry it’s not getting enough.
How sweet❤

The baby seems to look for affection in the other females, sweet little gorilla! Where is the Dad of this gorilla group?
