The songs she wrote as a 15 year old make me wonder what exactly it is that's keeping me from even attempting to do something as great at my age of 15. She should be an icon to teenagers! :) So here I go, ready to try to do something great and kind. :)

Couldn't love this more, if the rest of the album show's this I will be very happy. each album seems to be really different and this seems to be a slightly more mature sound. The joni mitchell ref is spot on!!

i went into HMV and there was a slot for this album and i was shocked and so excited and had a look and then i found out hidden by other CDs it said - coming this september.

@HeatherHORRORz I agree. She does seem kind of caught up in herself. She's not self-centered, but she's kind of in her own little world. I wish she would pay more attention to her fans. It would a give her a spark that I would love to see more of.

@mdsq36 It will be Sophie Milner (check out her website!) , she does the cover art for Mumford and Sons too. She just graduated from Edinburgh College of Art this year, I went to see her degree show!

@jobiwonkinosi @tom9987 I stand corrected :) I knew Alas for sure...I thought she had illustrated the CD sleeves for I Speak as well. The box set I bought said the postcards were drawn by her so I thought the rest of the album would've been too!

I have a really weird theory about this song being both lyrically and musically indicative about getting over a relationship with Marcus Mumford.

@mdsq36 It could be Laura herself...she did all the artwork for "Alas I Cannot Swim" AND "I Speak Because I Can".
@tom9987 Wasn't the Alas I Cannot Swim artwork done by the company Mockett and Moquette? In the album notes it says the woodcuts are by them. They might be taken from Laura's designs I suppose...?
