It felt like Ben was trying to be the same person from the first movie but loses his spunk against the people who wronged the villain kids. But, damn putting them in that box too.
Ben's development as a character is horrible 1) Characters like Jane and Lonnie get more development 2) the guys in the series kinda get bad development in general because the target audience is tween girls lol... The villain girls get the most development. 3) Ben is characterized to be the "perfect, innocent prince" in all the movies, that the writer's glossed over all his flaws instead of making him acknowledge and actually grow from them
@@Anthony-fu6cl Yeah, totally. I wish we got to see more of the other characters. I wish that the other guys got more screen time and development. I feel like if there was more story and a little bit less music; a little, I'm not saying none, then the movies would be greater. The movies are good, I just gotta feeling that it can be better.
9:14 here's a quick backstory of "shrimpy" when mal and Uma were younger, they were really good friends. so on day they were trying to cruella de vil with a bucket of slime and mal accidentanlly slipped in it and Uma laughed at her, so mal dumped a bucket of shrimp on her head and now her hair permanently smells like shrimp. that's how mal an Uma became enemies and the origin of the nickname shrimpy
I noticed something when Mal put a spell on Ben when he was dating Audrey they were perfectly fine with it, they thought it was cute but when Uma does it, it's bad?? like...like...what?? Logic just went out the window there
That was kinda the point of the whole date scene in the first movie: he ALREADY liked Mal in that way, not 100% of course but there was chemistry and alot of interest from HIS side - not from Mal's tho. Mal had this internalized force to do anything to free her awful mother, she got taught to be bad but then she learned that being bad doesnt feel good through THIS spell, she even tried to undo it. Uma just puts him under a spell for her selfish reasons: wanting to be better than Mal, freeing her "lost boys" and be the ruler, open the barrier without a care about how awful it will turn out (the people on that island had a generation's worth of hate against the land people brewing and brewing, it just wont go well for any of the two sides... hence why i dont really like how they rushed the ending of movie 3 but eh). Uma doesnt care about Ben that way, putting him under this spell doesnt teach her anything, she is being 100% selfish.
@@melmarmoria167 See, I have a problem with this because it has been during all this franchise that Mal has been the selfish one. Putting a spell on Ben for her mom to be freed, fleeing to the Island without any explanation to Ben or her friends, saying the barrier needs to stay betraying her friends for sympathy from the rulers, she has always swayed and jumped from side to side, and truly stayed loyal to no one, not her mom, not her friends, and not Ben. Uma just wanted to free everybody from the start, something even the protagonists wanted in the end. She had a whole crew supporting her for a reason, in the third movie she could've stayed in the kingdom but she returned to the Island, and it was only until the barrier broke that she went WITH EVERYONE.
AHAHA STOCKHOLM SYDROME YEAH I FELL FOR YOU BABY LOOK WHAT YOUVE DONE TO ME BABY LOOK WHAT YOU DONE NOW BABY ILL NEVER LEAVE YOU IF YOU KEEP HOLDING ME THIS WAY
I'm a year late but did you know that at 20:32 Mal bangs the floor three times, it is said that in ancient mythology if you bang the floor with your fist three times its to summon Hades, Hades is her father...
I like how Hanna was so confused as to why Uma turned into a giant octopus like her mom isn't Ursula and is infamous for turning into a giant sea monster octopus Funfact: if Mal and Uma continued to fight we would think a dragon was stronger, but the octopus would have won. Once she grabs Mal it would have been over because its impossible to escape the grasp of an octopus
Ur wrong because if uma would’ve grabbed her mal would’ve blasted her with her fire causing uma to duck under and if she doesn’t duck then uma would’ve died
@@rat229 she wouldnt have died, but been burned. Ursula is a sort of goddess and was pierced through the heart but didnt die. Mals fire would have burned her, but Uma would be able to gain the upper hand quickly.
think ahead, geniuses... it's not only about grasping Mal, but the next move would be to pull her under and keep her there... can a dragon breathe in water? I'd be interested in that
@@lingyu9126 nope they can’t, unless they’re a water dragon but make breathes fire. So all Uma had to do was grab Mal, Mal would breathe fire, Uma goes under do dodge bringing Mal with her. Hold Mal under, Mal transforms back due to lack of strength and she dies
@@jamiedraper8031 Agreed. Probably my least favorite movie out of the three, but the songs are good. I still prefer the ones from the second on over the third movie though
@@relievedluckyduck1 Yeah. The second movie (overall story/plot, songs characters) I like better than the first and third movie but the third's songs aren't that bad
I just realized Uma made an extremely stupid move snapping the wand since there is no magic on the isle. Also I think she should have known something was up when Mal used magic on an island that blocks out magic.
yeah actually i thought of that when i saw the movie but then in decendants 3 a character says that evil magic doesn't work in the island so maybe a talking dog isn't exactly considered evil or something

@@LittleMan27 exactly! love the song! hate that the whole plot of it. hate the scene. hate that they thought it was a good idea to have that in the movie.
@@alice-mc8ki Evie deserves a better song. I think they did it because she's the only main FEMALE character without a solo song. (Even then her solo song had backing vocals from Mal and Uma)
They didn't draw attention to it, but they cast an actual one-handed girl as one of the pirates. She has a UA-cam channel where she talks about it. Her name is Kristie Sita. She is the one in purple just to the left of the throne around 8:31. She said that Kenny Ortega called her out and congratulated her in front of the whole audition group just for being willing to audition with one hand and told her right then that she would definitely be cast.
This is the first time I've ever seen someone prefer the first movie over this one. This one was phenomenal, it had action, intrigue, a great villain, cute couples, a great storyline, redemption for Lonnie, the fights were unique and well choreographed, the talking dog had a purpose, the songs blew the first movies out of the water (love first movie just they all like she said were jams), Jade was so much better and confident, there was spunk to every movement, and overall had a lot less cringe than the first movie. Come on
Yes, that actor is actually Scottish irl. Oh, and he and Dove actually dated for a short time. Also, King Tut was put in power at the age of 9 so Ben being king at 16 isn't that bad.
Queen of mean is LITERALLY the best song I've ever heard in a Disney Channel original musical in my life. Its in D3. please please please watch it. Audrey from movie one is back and the movie SONGS are INCREDIBLE!
And not only were they dating, they also made non-canon backstories where Mal and Harry Hook had dated... Sad thing that was never made canon but I'm pretty sure they stated in the first that dating wasn't a thing on the Isle.
@@kierstengusler8759 I've checked, there's nothing on it. Closest thing we know is there were matching tattoos under their gloves as a nod to the backstory/fanfiction they made.

the descendants franchise has heavy heavy implications of parental abuse. I saw descendants 2 maybe 3 months after moving out of my abusive mom's house for good. that group conversation after they come back from the Isle made me bawl my eyes out
I'm still mad that the daughter of Ursula and the son of Hook didn't sing any sea shanties. The music is good but I'm a little disappointed that it was all like synth pop. Really missed an opportunity to tailor the music genre to each character.
I loved what you were saying about her fighting "feminine and cute" because they are showing a girl can be that way while also being like, 'hey, i might like fashion or art or cooking, but im still a bad*ss and can win a fight against you anyday.'
The rooms aren’t sexist, in the first movie Mal and Evie had separate beds but they have bunk beds in this one so Evie has room for her fashion business
Nah but the guys having a full on gaming system in the first movie rubbed me the wrong way. Like Ik it wasn’t intended to be sexist but if I went to that school I’d be mad jealous
I love how Hannah is watching Uma and Ben’s dance and just say “Oh, it’s KISS THE GIRL” like “HoW DaRe ThEy” I did the exactly same thing. It strangely made the scene more evil-like 😅
It took me a full 6 months before I was able to watch the Descendants movies after his passing. Even then I couldn’t watch the whole movie at once. I had to watch them in increments.
The serotonin I have from you reacting to this and loving all of the numbers is crazy. I grew up watching Disney originals and you loving this series as much as I do is awesome
Am I the only one who thinks that Hannah should react to Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief Musical? The songs are great and honestly PJO is awesome in general, so yeah.
They never tried changing each other. Mal just felt pressure from everyone else and Ben was actually an angel with the way he handled her and tried to calm her
It's true he never tried changing her... but it is also true that he was a little bit inattentive and insensitive to her too. But, I mean, so was she to him. They were both so wrapped up in their own sides of it, and overwhelmed by everything, but they had to have some hurdle to overcome or else we wouldn't have had a 2nd movie(so you win some & you lose some I guess).😅😅🤷♀️ Lol
Yeah, actually at the end of the third book it explains that Mal just knew he had to change in order to become a Lady, so she asks Evie to help her with her transformation. They also kind of mention that Ben felt sort of guilty for not giving Mal enough time because of his Kingly duties.
"Why did they make a 16 year old king anyway? Can we talk about that?" Haha, yup, that's one of the main issues with the whole premise of the franchise.
@@firehell995 I mean, it makes sense to have a young king in that context if the previous one died or is unable to keep being king for some reason, but the dad here is alive and young enough that he could keep being king for a few more years till the kid's an adult.

It felt like Ben was trying to be the same person from the first movie but loses his spunk against the people who wronged the villain kids. But, damn putting them in that box too.
Agreed
Ben's development as a character is horrible
1) Characters like Jane and Lonnie get more development
2) the guys in the series kinda get bad development in general because the target audience is tween girls lol...
The movies are good, I just gotta feeling that it can be better.

here's a quick backstory of "shrimpy"
when mal and Uma were younger, they were really good friends.
so on day they were trying to cruella de vil with a bucket of slime and mal accidentanlly slipped in it and Uma laughed at her, so mal dumped a bucket of shrimp on her head and now her hair permanently smells like shrimp.
that's how mal an Uma became enemies and the origin of the nickname shrimpy
Tyy
i thought it was because uma wanted to join the gang and mal called her shrimpy? thats what gil said
@@neverendingcool7184 I honestly don't know its probably both

The chemistry is there because they were actually dating. I shipped it too though.
@@stephwiller9089 they weren’t dating here. they dated after the movie was finished filming.

I noticed something
when Mal put a spell on Ben when he was dating Audrey they were perfectly fine with it, they thought it was cute
but when Uma does it, it's bad?? like...like...what?? Logic just went out the window there
Right 😂😂
That was kinda the point of the whole date scene in the first movie: he ALREADY liked Mal in that way, not 100% of course but there was chemistry and alot of interest from HIS side - not from Mal's tho.
Tbf this is the whole point of the third film
@Anne Day that isn’t even a proper comparison wtf
11:04 i don't know why nobody ever talks about the fact that she curls her hair but it comes out straight

I like how Hanna was so confused as to why Uma turned into a giant octopus like her mom isn't Ursula and is infamous for turning into a giant sea monster octopus
Funfact: if Mal and Uma continued to fight we would think a dragon was stronger, but the octopus would have won. Once she grabs Mal it would have been over because its impossible to escape the grasp of an octopus
Ur wrong because if uma would’ve grabbed her mal would’ve blasted her with her fire causing uma to duck under and if she doesn’t duck then uma would’ve died
