(Purple) Basically, she's missing the freedom she had when she was evil, because now she's in love with the king (Beauty and the Beast's son), and she's constantly under pressure. So in her mind, she just see her and her friends corrupting everyone in the wicked side.

In regards to the relationship between Mal and Evie, A LOT of the fans were desperately reading into it, and I think that song was their way of being like 'this is the best we can do under the chains of Disney', which was still greatly appreciated by almost ALL of the girls and gays hahaha [Edit to clarify that I am one of the gays that I'm speaking of, and there is no ill-will meant to either groups, just saying we appreciate the representation where we can get it]

In my opinion, I think Once Upon A Time is an underrated banger. I don’t hear enough ppl talking about it. It’s such a beautiful ballad and it may not be Queen of Mean or Good to be Bad, but it is an amazing song from D3. (I’m so happy I came to this vid early. I’ve never been here within the first hour).

I liked the song, but I see why most people don’t, Dove’s voice is probably why I really like it. Some of the lyrics are good like “it’s not your father’s fairytale, it’s not your mother’s fault you failed” and “life is not a storybook, but life unfolds in chapters”. But I don’t think Descendants 3 was that good, and they didn’t built it up well so that’s probably why people ignore the song (the movie having Mal wanna close the barrier and lying to everyone felt too forced)
So glad you did Space Between. Its one of my favourites and hit very hard for me a few years ago. I also cant take the knights seriously in Night Falls since I noticed the suits of armour are made out of foam and spray painted clothing 😅. I'll never forget the first time I saw "Space Between". My niece used to be hugely into Descendants, so whenever she was over it was almost always playing on the TV. And I'd never really seen any of them up to that point, but it was just one time when I walked out and that song started, and I also really thought they were gonna kiss when they leaned their heads in lol.
I had a very similar experience. I was introduced to Descendants through my nieces and nephews who I was watching over while my dad and half brother were at lunch. I hadn’t seen the first one, so I didn’t have a lot of context.
Space Between is right behind What’s My Name and Queen of Mean for me. My favorite ballad at the very least. Their relationship is just so sweet. I didn’t even fully watch the movies (and I still haven’t seen the third one) and their chemistry was insane to me.
Hey hun, answers about the dog. His name is Dude and we were first introduced to him in the 1st Descendants movie, he is the campus mutt in Auradon ! He was chasing Carlos (who was taught to fear/hate dogs by his Mom Cruella) and Ben said he was harmless so then Carlos warmed up to Dude and they basically became besties. Dude gains the ability to talk during Descendants 2 and helps rescue Ben off the pirate ship (you’ve reacted to the song that plays just before which was the “rap battle” between Uma (girl with blue braids) and Mal (girl with purple wig). Dude has some more features in Descendants 2 and 3 but I think you get the idea. He’s always by Carlos’s side :)

Night Falls is one of my favorite Descendants songs, the best part for me is the change in the chorus each time. It goes from Watch Your back, to Back to Back, to Got Your Back, as the song progresses and they start working together.
Everybody has more chemistry than Mal and Ben, we all saw Mal and Evie’s in Space Between, but I also saw A LOT for Evie and Ben in Chillin Like A Villain and for basically all their scenes in Descendants 2, same for Uma and Ben in their scene when he was tied up and she explained her life story
"Night Falls" is my favorite song from all of the movies. And yeah, Mal (Dove Cameron's character) has slightly different hair colors each movie. Purple in the first movie, a lighter purple (bordering on magenta) in the second movie and a darker bluish purple in the third movie. I highly recommend watching the movies. It really helps give context for all of the songs.
Some context on Ways to Be Wicked: This is the opening song of the second movie, the scene of them turning the school bad with poison apples is all in Mal's head, as she misses doing evil with her friends, now that they're "reformed".
This so perfectly captured how i feel about the descendants movies. By all rights they should be a cheap, cheesey Disney channel cash grab but they're so good! The costumes and backgrounds have so much love in them, the actors were obviously having so much fun, the messages are good and every song is an absolute banger!! I love them so much and if that stuff interests you you should definitely watch them!
actually dove cameron has mentioned before that she ships mal and evie, and said in her heart mal is in love with evie so its not disney canon that they're together, but space between made them pretty much canon in everyones hearts
one detail I love from ways to be wicked was that during the "Mother always knows best" lines Mal, Carlos, and Evie sang about their moms basically because that's who they have left "taking care of them" and Jay joined in with a different line moving the song along! I will explain Night falls: so this is when the groups of the VK's the 4 villan kids we've known from the first movie i.e. Mal, Evie, Carlos, Jay and the new additions from the ile of the lost where all the villans are were named Uma, Harry, Gil, and Cecilia as well as some newer kids brought over for the 3rd movie. But for this song in particular its just the main four plus uma, cecila, harry and gil , oh and Dude aka the dog! So they are trying to work together as a team throughout the song and before the song starts and Evie is sort of being the bridge between the two groups of the OG VK's and the Pirates who have history with each other... The dancing scenes when the knights copy Uma and Mal were because Mal took over Audrey's spell she was using to control the knights.... One thing to note is that Mal's magic shows when she's using it in her eyes they turn Green... And I guess since she's been in Auradon for a few years now she's gotten stronger with her magic abilities and since Audrey was only having magic because of Maleficent's Septer she was still pretty new to magic... plus Uma at this point has been roaming the oceans since the second movie and only just now returned to the Isle of the Lost when the Vk's were bringing new kids to Auradon... so it would make sense that her power's improved as well!
And yet another 20 minutes VERY well spent :) I love watching people being blown away by the descendants songs (and Julie and the phantoms too, let’s face it). You and me is probably my favourite song. It’s so good, and the choreography is also very cool!

It is actually just a daydream Mal(Dove Cameron's character) is having because now that she and her friends are good she misses some of the villain life. Once Upon A Time: Descendants 3, Mal and friends have been working together to stop Audrey(Queen of Mean) from turning everyone to stone out of revenge. It is revealed Mal lied to the group about getting rid of the barrier on the Island with all the villains and villain kids and they end up being caught by Audrey's magic and turned to stone. Mal then sings about her entire journey throughout the 3 movies. Right after the song Mal and Audrey's final conflict starts. Also the dragon is Mal, since she's Maleficent's daughter she can also turn into a dragon. Space Between: Descendants 2. Takes place right after chilling like a villain, (Reminder: Mal ran back to the villain island because she couldn't handle princess life) Evie talks with Mal privately about how she can always confide in her. Night Falls: Descendants 3, Mal's group (The main 4 protags seen in rotten to the core and ways to be wicked) and Uma's group(The main people from What's My Name) are working together to stop Audrey, Uma's group agreeing under the promise that the barrier around villain isle will be removed. They're going through the castle working to take down Audrey when Audrey uses magic to bring the suits of armor to life and a fight starts. Descendants 1: Protagonist: Mal, Evie(Blue Hair), Jay(Beanie), and Carlos(White Hair) Antagonist: Maleficent(Mal's Mother) Descendants 2: Antagonist: Uma (Ursula's daughter) Descendants 3: Antagonist: Audrey(Sleeping Beauty's daughter, direct rival to Mal in the 1st movie and Ben's original girlfriend, Queen of Mean in the 3rd movie because Mal and Ben become engaged)

Mal's hair looks different in every movie, yeah. The purple from the first movie is likely her natural hair color. In the second movie it's briefly dyed blonde in an attempt to "fit in" more with Ben's social circle, but she gets that blunt banged cut and dyes it that pink-purple after she runs away to the aisle - classic breakup behavior. By the third movie, her hair is a darker purple with blue streaks, because she starts using Hades' magic.
Well Matt I can tell u that knight scene is almost just as wild being in the context of Descendants 3 as it is being out of context. Descendants 2 where most of these songs are from has a great soundtrack. Very fun movie song review & commentary!

My high school performed ways to be wicked, (I played Jay) and we had to jump up and down and shout during “hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!” So that when we got to our solos, everyone was out of breath. In my opinion, I think Once Upon A Time is an underrated banger. I don’t hear enough ppl talking about it. It’s such a beautiful ballad and it may not be Queen of Mean or Good to be Bad, but it is an amazing song from D3.

I liked the song, but I see why most people don’t, Dove’s voice is probably why I really like it. Some of the lyrics are good like “it’s not your father’s fairytale, it’s not your mother’s fault you failed” and “life is not a storybook, but life unfolds in chapters”. But I don’t think Descendants 3 was that good, and they didn’t built it up well so that’s probably why people ignore the song (the movie having Mal wanna close the barrier and lying to everyone felt too forced)
So glad you did Space Between. Its one of my favourites and hit very hard for me a few years ago. I also cant take the knights seriously in Night Falls since I noticed the suits of armour are made out of foam and spray painted clothing 😅. Like, i get WHY they were made that way but it makes ne laugh so much 😂
I couldn’t take them seriously as soon as I saw the dance moves at 18:15 😅 (but seriously, the spray painted armour is hilariously bad 😂)

I had an INSANE obsession with the song "You and me", it’s seriously my favorite, down from choreography to the singing, just absolutely beautiful
I'll never forget the first time I saw "Space Between". My niece used to be hugely into Descendants, so whenever she was over it was almost always playing on the TV. And I'd never really seen any of them up to that point, but it was just one time when I walked out and that song started, and I also really thought they were gonna kiss when they leaned their heads in lol.
I had a very similar experience. I was introduced to Descendants through my nieces and nephews who I was watching over while my dad and half brother were at lunch. I hadn’t seen the first one, so I didn’t have a lot of context.
Space Between is right behind What’s My Name and Queen of Mean for me. My favorite ballad at the very least. Their relationship is just so sweet. I didn’t even fully watch the movies (and I still haven’t seen the third one) and their chemistry was insane to me.
RIP Cameron Boyce( Carlos De Vil), was a great actor and person. the descendants music is always so gooodddd !

Hey hun, answers about the dog. His name is Dude and we were first introduced to him in the 1st Descendants movie, he is the campus mutt in Auradon ! He was chasing Carlos (who was taught to fear/hate dogs by his Mom Cruella) and Ben said he was harmless so then Carlos warmed up to Dude and they basically became besties. Dude gains the ability to talk during Descendants 2 and helps rescue Ben off the pirate ship (you’ve reacted to the song that plays just before which was the “rap battle” between Uma (girl with blue braids) and Mal (girl with purple wig). Dude has some more features in Descendants 2 and 3 but I think you get the idea. He’s always by Carlos’s side :)
Has anyone suggested Sofia the First music yet? I remember hearing My Once Upon a Time for the first time and being struck by how much it sounded like something from Sofia the First, which, for the record, also has shockingly good music! And has anyone suggested Lemonade Mouth? It's another Disney Channel Original Movie with a great soundtrack!

Night Falls is one of my favorite Descendants songs, the best part for me is the change in the chorus each time.
It goes from Watch Your back, to Back to Back, to Got Your Back, as the song progresses and they start working together.
Everybody has more chemistry than Mal and Ben, we all saw Mal and Evie’s in Space Between, but I also saw A LOT for Evie and Ben in Chillin Like A Villain and for basically all their scenes in Descendants 2, same for Uma and Ben in their scene when he was tied up and she explained her life story
"Night Falls" is my favorite song from all of the movies.
And yeah, Mal (Dove Cameron's character) has slightly different hair colors each movie. Purple in the first movie, a lighter purple (bordering on magenta) in the second movie and a darker bluish purple in the third movie.
I highly recommend watching the movies. It really helps give context for all of the songs.
Some context on Ways to Be Wicked:
This is the opening song of the second movie, the scene of them turning the school bad with poison apples is all in Mal's head, as she misses doing evil with her friends, now that they're "reformed".
This so perfectly captured how i feel about the descendants movies. By all rights they should be a cheap, cheesey Disney channel cash grab but they're so good! The costumes and backgrounds have so much love in them, the actors were obviously having so much fun, the messages are good and every song is an absolute banger!! I love them so much and if that stuff interests you you should definitely watch them!

one detail I love from ways to be wicked was that during the "Mother always knows best" lines Mal, Carlos, and Evie sang about their moms basically because that's who they have left "taking care of them" and Jay joined in with a different line moving the song along!
I will explain Night falls: so this is when the groups of the VK's the 4 villan kids we've known from the first movie i.e. Mal, Evie, Carlos, Jay and the new additions from the ile of the lost where all the villans are were named Uma, Harry, Gil, and Cecilia as well as some newer kids brought over for the 3rd movie.
But for this song in particular its just the main four plus uma, cecila, harry and gil , oh and Dude aka the dog!
So they are trying to work together as a team throughout the song and before the song starts and Evie is sort of being the bridge between the two groups of the OG VK's and the Pirates who have history with each other... The dancing scenes when the knights copy Uma and Mal were because Mal took over Audrey's spell she was using to control the knights....
One thing to note is that Mal's magic shows when she's using it in her eyes they turn Green... And I guess since she's been in Auradon for a few years now she's gotten stronger with her magic abilities and since Audrey was only having magic because of Maleficent's Septer she was still pretty new to magic...
plus Uma at this point has been roaming the oceans since the second movie and only just now returned to the Isle of the Lost when the Vk's were bringing new kids to Auradon... so it would make sense that her power's improved as well!
And yet another 20 minutes VERY well spent :) I love watching people being blown away by the descendants songs (and Julie and the phantoms too, let’s face it). You and me is probably my favourite song. It’s so good, and the choreography is also very cool!

Ways to be Wicked: Descendants 2, The intro song for the second movie like rotten to the core was for the first one. It is actually just a daydream Mal(Dove Cameron's character) is having because now that she and her friends are good she misses some of the villain life.
Once Upon A Time: Descendants 3, Mal and friends have been working together to stop Audrey(Queen of Mean) from turning everyone to stone out of revenge. It is revealed Mal lied to the group about getting rid of the barrier on the Island with all the villains and villain kids and they end up being caught by Audrey's magic and turned to stone. Mal then sings about her entire journey throughout the 3 movies. Right after the song Mal and Audrey's final conflict starts. Also the dragon is Mal, since she's Maleficent's daughter she can also turn into a dragon.
Space Between: Descendants 2. Takes place right after chilling like a villain, (Reminder: Mal ran back to the villain island because she couldn't handle princess life) Evie talks with Mal privately about how she can always confide in her.
Night Falls: Descendants 3, Mal's group (The main 4 protags seen in rotten to the core and ways to be wicked) and Uma's group(The main people from What's My Name) are working together to stop Audrey, Uma's group agreeing under the promise that the barrier around villain isle will be removed. They're going through the castle working to take down Audrey when Audrey uses magic to bring the suits of armor to life and a fight starts.
Descendants 1: Protagonist: Mal, Evie(Blue Hair), Jay(Beanie), and Carlos(White Hair) Antagonist: Maleficent(Mal's Mother)
Descendants 2: Antagonist: Uma (Ursula's daughter)

Instead it's just. Night Falls. Spoiler? Ugh.
5:38 the do is there because Carlos is Crualla's son and she raised him to be afraid of dogs, so when he goes to Aurdon he meets the dog and he bonds with it. the dog represents the character development of that character and also is really special to Carlos.

Mal's hair looks different in every movie, yeah. The purple from the first movie is likely her natural hair color. In the second movie it's briefly dyed blonde in an attempt to "fit in" more with Ben's social circle, but she gets that blunt banged cut and dyes it that pink-purple after she runs away to the aisle - classic breakup behavior. By the third movie, her hair is a darker purple with blue streaks, because she starts using Hades' magic.

For extra context, they don’t stay villains throughout. By the end of the movie their basically good guys they just don’t forget all their villainous ways but they don’t do anything bad (minus Mal technically 😂).

Dove/mal/purple hair used to play a seris called Liv and Maddie where she played a set of identical twins by herself. One was sporty and one was an amazing singer/actor. She then went on to start Mal, daughter of malifecent and Hades, in decendents. Now after the death of her close friend (a.k.a the dog man from your reaction, rest in peace😔) she refuses to go on with decendents and will no longer be with Disney.
