Extended Version Here: • IK Rigging Extended Ve...
Just a quick intro to IK rigging! It's probably the most useful thing I learned last year (after putting it off for, like, literally a decade and a half).
Also- Been working like a wildman on Dynamo Dream. Sending it to the sound team in the next few days, then I'll be able to make a few more tuts! Have some stuff I'm really excited to talk about! - Фільми й анімація
That "Okay" at the beginning sounds like he knows he's committed only sin for 5 months
HE KNOWS!!!!
@Rylan Kieran shut up bot
😭💀
after he said "add your mech leg, or whatever, you ""add the control bone""", how do you add the control bone?? is there a shortcut for it?

Again a 1 minute tutorial, which helped me out more than most tutorials that were an hour long.
I never knew you could parent IK chains to IK chains, and it's immediately useful!
Chain limit is the key here or instead blender will start glitching
Blender is like ... once you get over the tip of the iceberg of pain when starting out, there's like all this wonderful shit underneath just hiding there :D
And he doesn't teach you how to parent things to the mesh, weightpainting, vertex groups. Etc, this is where hour long tutorials truly shine
@@roughdragonfly climb the icy snow covered deadly mountain.. legend says paradise is on the other side. This is the real reason none have ever returned.
@@cupcakemcsparklebutt9051 Nah, there's tutorials out there that can manage to explain the basics of rigging in like 20 minutes average, just because a tutorial is an hour long doesn't mean you'll gain that much of knowledge which can be simplified into shorter explanations and still be very easy to understand
And he came when the world needed him the most
Just for a minute

I am so sick of seeing this reply on yt videos. STOP. YOU HAVE NOT CONTRIBUTED.
This how you get thousands of people excited about rigging in less than one minute.

Now do one for weight painting lol
Fair enough xD
Dang...that was cool!
Hello Jared!

lol
Step 1 , ik
Step 2 , explore other constraints
Step 3 , draw the full horse
I feel like actually modelling the horse is the easiest part to learn, there's years of sculpting, anatomy drawing, and painting courses out there, it's learning the complex stuff that intimidates me
r/drawthefuckingowl
Yeah, the 1 min tutorials are fun but this grossly over simplifies rigging.
@@potaterjim you can learn all those in tandem. The years spent not learning them will eventually pass, it's up to you if you would have learned them or not in that amount of time
@@radicant7283 it's just a tip, something to say: hey look at this!. Not a complex tutorial on rigging,
"Lazy" is short for the best, most concise video that you will need, all in under a minute
Tutorial: 30 minutes to make
Short Clip at the end: 1 year to make
but did he land the backflip
We'll know when the scene finishes rendering next year!

Considering the craft HOVERS, I'd say hopefully no. :D
That's the question
Gonna have to watch Dynamo Dream to find out
Not joking last night I finally decided to tackle Rigging, after 3 years of using blender and not wanting to touch it. Let out an audible gasp this morning when I got the notification.
Oh finally an ik tutorial that doesn't make me feel like crying
The heck? Its not even 1 minute.
Imagine how mutch things he could teach us with that 6 seconds

I'm been obsessed with blender since I was in middle school, now I'm a freshman in college and still say "Eventually I'll learn and start working on blender one day." I really need to start learning. Watched hours of tutorials but never really tried to create my own things.
I love how they always show the best cinematics making us believe we can easily get to that point
I'm literally trying to learn rigging for my first model right now... Ian is telepathic! He truly is the Blender God!
holy moly..you just made one of the hardest thing very easy for me.
This 54-second-turorial changed my entire life

Yay, lazy tutorials are back! They can't beat the magnificent content on Patreon, but they are SO cool :)
HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! HE'S BACK! OH MY GOD, HE'S BACK! I LOVE YOU!
Hey man, if you love his content, he posts amazing content DAILY on his patreon for 7$ a month, it's so worth it.
I told you guys to TRUST THE PLAN!
@@Herzfeld10 are all of his stuff using blender?
@@azraeikun7877 Yes, everything. Sometime you'll see a bit of compositing using after effects, but it's mostly blender. You also get free assets, 3D scans, rigged models and it's really really amazing. also you get tutorials that last over an hour of him building stuff.
Btw i'm not sponsored but i'm spreading the message cause I used t be a youtube fan but I barely even check out his youtube channel anymore. So much content on his patreon.
This is the kind of tutorial we really need more of, no slow explanations for 20 minutes on how and where to click 5 times.
You’re a straight-up legend and I’d easily pay for an hour of “lazy” tutorials rather than 10 hours of “training”. Your tutorials are the best way to learn Blender !!
Another thing to learn instead of doing homework,
Yup
This hit wayyyyyy too hard
For some of us - this is homework.
Man if your procrastination is learning this super cool useful shit you’re going far in life. Grades are what they are, but skills is the meta
Prob learn more from this than school anyway 🤷♂️
rigging is probably the one thing holding me back from doing any sort of serious animation work. Very helpful as always 🙏🙏🙏
It is a very complex process, very difficult to get it right.
Wait till you start animating... FUN! no... not really... but ye ye ye, its a thing!
I was watching a UA-cam video with a guy who animates for Pixar talking about how he doesn’t even know how to rig. Some people model, some texture, some rig, some people animate, some learn to do any combination of those things. Up to you what you want to learn, but if rigging is keeping you from animating, you just need to buy a pre-rigged model, or you can upload your model to Mixamo and it’ll rig it for you (assuming it’s a human model).
you have NO idea how long i struggled with this concept of pistons... you are doing God's work Ian...
This is honestly such a good tutorial. I've watched multiple 10 minute videos on this topic but none have explained it as well as this
Thinking to myself: "Should I just do my animations programmatically with DoTween? I know I can work out the animation controller, but I'm not sure how to rig this"
Ian: *slaps me in the face* "You're gonna rig it, loser"
The legend is back!
This one video has helped me more then a 90 minute lecture at university on the same topic.
Now we want the full tutorial because I don’t feel lazy anymore after watching this ! Wow
He came when we expected him the least, but needed the most.
You tellin' me. I was on my way to Grant Abbitt's and now look at me being spirited away on the Hubert train.
Friendly reminder to open the link from description for detailed explanation ❤️
I had just been revisiting old Lazy Tutorials a few days ago. I can't express how happy I am to see more.
I've been using blender for 6 years now. And never had the guts to get into rigging. Idk why. Just couldn't convince myself to do it. Always passed it on to someone else. But now lord Ian has Said it's easy. Which means it is. And i am finally gonna do it.
Easy IK Rigging in THEORY. Rigging complex mechanisms with pistons is hard and often you have to play with drivers.
I've been using IK for pistons, too! Just constrain all the bones to one axis, with one in the middle that can stretch. Kind of a weird way to do it but I've been loving it.
Me: Yeah its cool! I can make robotics arm for some factory scene or something. That should impress everyone.
*Example at the end of the video*: Pathetic!
You're an inspiration. I hope to peruse blender and someday be able to bring my imagination to something more physical like you do. Keep working hard, it makes me want to work hard to follow.
Is it just me or did this get everyone hyper excited about rigging
Today I made a rabbit model. I made my first working rig and got everything attached. Now I am working on my first IK setup. Productive day. Edit: IK setup worked great. Fantastic Tutorial. Thanks!
The amount knowledge he gives in under a minute is actually insane I love you Ian
Dude you're crazy. I've been struggling with rigging for days and you just do it in 30 seconds like it's nothing. God bless you champ👊
when the world needed him he came back
bro what why is this more helpful than all of the full length tutorials that i have watched. legend
that transition from 0:41 to 0:45. it's like every video "you just drag the bone, Shift+I and add final touches for the finished result"
As someone who loves blender but terrible adhd induced patience issues. I truely love short and sweet stuff. I cannot stand watching an hour long tutorial i always end up just messing around with stuff about 20 minutes in.
IH is shockingly good at making things seem straight forward, possibly the best I've ever seen.
dude i just made a full blown leg when you told me the shift + i ... how did a 1 hour tut not tell me that your crazy bro luv it!
The final product of your Lazy Tutorial series always turns out like something straight out of Hollywood movie. Great work!
I've watched hour+ long tutorials on this subject and I feel like I've learned more in 1 minute from this video.
New Ian Hubert upload. life is good.
OMG YOU JUST TAUGHT ME WHAT IVE BEEN TRYING TO DISCOVER FOR YEARS
OMG I was going through your videos this morning and thinking you haven't posted for 5 months where have you been, and you post it in the afternoon!!!
Oh god, that backflip! , Welcome back man
YOUR BACK!!! we missed you man!!!
I got headache warching rigging but fun.but this one is what i always looking for!! Many thanks matee
I'm so grateful to you for this. Your tuts are so short yet complete at the same time. It's ridiculous.

1- for this awesome tutorial
2- for making a sci-fi crash that does not involve the entire vehicle bursting into flames and fucking exploding into a massive explosion.

Super! Please feed us with more lazy tuts! It brakes the whole workflow to super easy things! Very helpful👍thank you !
Dude, PLEASE, make more, you truly have a talent.
Youre back!
Not only the king has returned, but he made EASIEST tutorial to add IK bones too?! I'm definitely using this, I'm not longer gonna be stressing out about this as much.
Can’t wait for dynamo dream. Watching Ian
‘s animations rejuvenates me to start rigging and animating again for my own short film! Love this channel to DEATH BRO!!!
Time to become a blender mastermind using your tutorials
I feel like these tutorials are just a way for Ian to show off what he's working on. I'm not complaining though his work is epic!
Legend is back 💪💪💪
MOOOORE!!!!! I miss new stuff in this series!!
Omg I was just practicing blender and the man, the myth, the legend comes back
Always been intimidated by armatures because every tutorial or explanation is so unnecessary long. This helped me to get started right away, thanks!
HE'S BACK
Finally a new lazy tutorial!
The return of the king
It's the tutorial we needed, and it's the tutorial we wanted. Best blender tutorial I've seen so far.
Dude whenever i see your videos i go to blender and fail so many times until i got and nail it! Thanks for these videos lol
Jezus, i was working an a mechanical skeleton for a game and skipped pneumatic actuators and stuff because i just did not even know where to look, AWESOME!
you are sent by blender gods.

Great stuff as always
Glad you're back to doing lazy tutorials. Really missed these.
Easily the most useful short I have seen in the past six months :0
Good to have you back
(edit: you've really been an idol my whole 1 year of blender please keep uploading)

The return of the king 💪
Great video 😊.
And if any of you interested in learning about all the constraints
I have tutorial ❤️🙏
What a prime time for this to come back when I just started using Blender this year
Welcome back Ian! Missed your tutorials!
The Return of The King
This guys gonna make me learn blender. I have zero knowledge at this point but these videos make it seem like a reasonable goal.
Just what I needed on a Monday at 2:05 AM. You're awesome man.
I love it. Blender is on my "Things to learn" list for 2021 and robots are a big part of the films I want to make.
THE LEGEND IS BACK
